RK3 Designs is a learning studio focused on teaching how to create beautiful epoxy finishes using Stone Coat Countertop Epoxy. These tutorials include epoxy countertops for kitchens, bathrooms, and much more. This channel provides tutorials for DIYers, contractors, designers, or artists.
Rhonda Dracoulis Founder and Primary Instructor
RK3 Designs started as a way for Rhonda to showcase her creativity but has blossomed into a way to help others find theirs. Her obsession with painting led her to start refinishing furniture and kitchen cabinets. She found customers wanted a nicer option than laminate but more affordable and customizable than natural stone, which lead her to countertop epoxy! Since then, she’s helped thousands of students, from across the country (and even Canada eh?).

I think it looks so much better when 'softened', but still leaving some of the darker bits - it makes it look more 'real' - It looks Beautiful :)
Thank you!! I agree 😊😊
Less is sometimes more! What you and your husband came up with at the end was great. How you finished with very subtle touches in the vain was absolutely perfect 👌
Thank you so much! I appreciate you leaving a comment!
I loved the softened veins so much! 💖 I think that is more what I'm looking for, but with a quartz look(lots of bling) and touches of gold. 🌟 I'm not big into black, but I love the look of marble. It's so rich! Diamond dust for the win!! 💎 This must have been so difficult for you, staying subtle! It looked awesome! 👏👏 I hope you and Kenny are having a blast with Mike, Erika, and crew!! 🌊💙
Lol. You could tell I was struggling not to keep playing with it 🤣. We are having so much fun!!!! Thanks for your continued support ❤️
Love this. I have a picture of one very similar to this, I'd like to show you. The veins are somewhat tan/grey. I'd like to know what colors to use.
Loved the softer veins, end result was beautiful
Soft veins perfect like always.
Thank you!!
I just keep watching this video....... this is such a classy, elegant finish!!!! I love learning how to soften the veins. ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Awesome. Glad ya like it. 😊😊
I liked the info regarding the mixing of the epoxy and why and what happens if.....I thought I would like the way the veins went on in the first application, but as you softened it, then went back and added just a touch, I thought made it look more real looking! I really liked how it turned out! Thank you for sharing your great talent and pro tips!
You bet. Thank you so much for watching!! ❤️❤️
The softened veins makes this finish look soooooo authentic. Looove the tip about using the plastic bag!!!! Great finish...... could be done with soooo many different color combinations. Awesome job Rhonda and Kenny!!!! Thanks so much for these videos.
Thank ma’am! 😊
Rhonda this is one of my fav videos and recipes you've done so far. So beautiful and I can't wait to try it. Veins are very hard to get to look beautiful with contrasting colors in my opinion. Thanks for sharing. Vaghn
I assume you use the moisture resistant MDF? Also is the MDF primed with a two pot epoxy white primer?
Is it normal alcohol spray. Love your work
91% or higher.
Why did the part b have a purplish/bluish tint? I like the softer veins best.
It’s the UVA additives. 👍🏼
I thought it was better softened also👍👍
Thank you!! 😊😊
Liked before the veins
It really is a pretty finish on its own. Thanks for watching. 😊
I've been doing epoxy countertops for a year now. I watch ALL the channels. Leggari is the best dirty pour channel. But you are, by FAR, the best at detailed advanced art. I have used many of your techniques. You're helping me out a ton. Seeing how you fix veins on the fly. I always thought I messed up and had to accept it. You helped me make it right.
Wow, thank you! I really appreciate your comment. 😊
Can I buy the product here in Canada
I love it! But from a distance you can not see veins. So for me I would like the veins to be just a little more apparent.
Thank you!! Unfortunately the video doesn’t really give you the full effect. It’s so hard to video white. 😩. Thank you so much for watching!! 😊
Yes, your husband was definitely right, you should have left it alone after you softened the veins IMHO 😉
He’s usually right 🤣🤣. Thanks for watching. 😊😊
The very soft! I didn’t really like how straight the lines were for the most part, however once you softened them it looked great!
The veins are good soften but i dunno about your design it could've been better alll u did was make V shape all around maybe few X or some other shape wouldve make it pop more
I actually liked it softer. Looked more natural that way. Too many veins for me..still it beautiful
You know I liked the veins at first, then you softened them and I realized they did look natural. Great job
Thank you!! In real life it really did look more natural. 😊
Its perfect. This is the tutorial I've been searching for! This is exactly the type of look I want to do to my countertops :) Thank you!
Thank you!!!!
I’d make one with the detail, and one without. Calcutta marble looks just like this, and it has a couple variations.
Great idea!!! 👍🏼👍🏼. Thanks for the feedback!
I did epoxy in my converted bus.
I’ll bet they looked awesome.
I absolutely love your work! So beautifully artistic! My question is regarding your “canvas”. You said you use 3/4 inch MDF…. Did you spray paint it white? Do you have a video on the process of prepping your board?
I prepped it with our Undercoat but you can also use a latex paint. Check out our beginner playlist. 😊
Loveeeeeee the softened veins! Kudo’s Kenny! It’s a perfect end result with the bits of highlights too Rhonda, AS ALWAYS….your work is ahhhmazing!
Thank you!!! I’m so glad I listened to Kenny ❤️
is the top coat of epoxy needed? I thought you just did the ultimate top coat after 1 epoxy pour.
I like the end results with the soft veins with hints of dark/light spots.
Wow! Absolutely stunning! Soft veins with tiny details was perfect.
Thank you!! I’m glad I softened them up. 😊
Softer is better .It was great teaching watching how you adjusted it .
Thank you!!!
It looks really nice with the lite veining.
Can you tell me how long you have to actually work with the product? Also, I see some drips on the edge, are you using your hand or a paint stick to level that out once it starts to cure?
Depending on the temperature, about 45 minutes. You can scrape the drips a few times until they stop dripping.
It doesn't look organic. Those "Y" shapes repeated all over the place look man-made.
Thanks for the feedback. 👍🏼👍🏼
What? No bling? 😆 I liked the distinct veins but when you softened them up, I liked them even more. As usual, very pretty end result! 😍
I know. Very out of my realm 😊. Thanks for watching.
I really love the soften veins
softer is better choice. a little detail is nice too. NO BLING on soft marble. Keep up the good work! Hubby got a looker not a cooker!
Lol. Thank you!!! I’m definitely not a cooker 🤣🤣
Interesting input...hmmm...I guess the quest would be good balance with scale, texture, pattern, & color throughout a space. Isn't that the designer's job, not the tradesmen? If one has pattern, color & texture in 1 part of a room, shouldn't that be cohesively balanced in other areas of the space? ... On another note: Rhonda I've watched several of your Stone Coat videos; Re: this video, I preferred the softer veining, although I thought too many/prominent for the muted background
Ma’am I like all your work
It’s my suggestion for you is pl. translate this all project’s Vidio in “HINDI” language, you can get thousands of viewers more from “ INDIA” and other countries
Hey guess what, I just found the aquadefense waterproofing and crack isolation membrane paint! Woohoo! I will bring it and leave it for you guys to use this next week.
"Ok...I think I am totally girl crushing on you right now!!!" Because you are being the "cherry chapstick"...that's making me want to kiss you right now!!! I have a piece of stone somebody want me to duplicate...and child..."This is it!" Except, it has your final little every once in awhile darker, as well as a TEENEE TINY bit of brown and cream, with just a vein going the other direction. SOOOOO, thank you, thank you, thank you!!!! But, also, more of a matt etc finish... "You know, I used STONECOAT, literally when Mike was either in his kitchen or his garage. I have always loved the product and customer service of the gals, but have really wanted to meet you and your daughter as well...LOL Thanks again.
Why do you want to know what we (your audience) would do? Because you know damn well you don’t give a damn what any of us would do. That’s just your way to manipulate your audience to boost UA-cam’s algorithms.
The faint details after the softening are MONEY!
You definitely nailed it with softening those vein towards the end. Its stunning! It definitely was beautiful before but the last touch really brought up a notch
I absolutely love your work! I am new to your page and came to it at the right time. I am creating this exact same look for some countertops and your video is spot on what I needed. Can't wait to explore your page more and learn a whole lot more.
The softer veins look much better and more realistic. Another way I've found to effectively soften veins is to use as heat gun directly over top and follow the vein. it kinda pushes it down into the epoxy. then I trace my vein with clear or a touch of white
Great tip. Thanks!! 😊😊
Way to go Kenny! Absolutely love the softer veins, looks so natural especially with the tiny bits of detail.
Thank you!!! 😊
With a project like this, il we end up mostly with mo veins,or accent colors on the border sides?
The softener veins came out beautiful considering that’s what customer wanted I like something much more bold and colorful however you’re trying to meet their needs!
You are absolutely correct. I tend to like them bold as well, but customer wanted very soft veins. 😊😊
good choice in muting the veins. they were a bit strong to begin with, the calmer version was more visually appealing.
Quick question. I have a small amount of craft coat left, can I mix formulas?
I totally agree!! No, you don’t want to mix the QC with another product. Thanks for watching. 😊
❤
These definitive veinings look so fake and contrived in my opinion. A softer look should be the goal in epoxy. The problem a lot of “craftsmen” have is thinking their product/work is the only thing going into a space when in reality it’s a singular piece that is sharing a space with 20 other finish products in a space. It then becomes a competition for the eye and visual attention. Good design remembers “it’s the SUM of all the parts”, otherwise it’s a schizophrenic space full of every trademans ego.
Am a designer.

Perfect beautiful you can call Picasso art 🖼
A little late to the party, but I liked the 2nd version, very, very soft veins.
Love your finsh touch!
Rhonda never quits until is is perfect.
Never thought about doing my RV.
Sure thinking about it now. 😃
Great for RV’s 😊
Amazing. You are so talented.
Looks great! Where can you purchase the alcohol?
I agree with your husband. I prefer the "ever so soft" veins.
I like it now. It was to Bold at first with just a soft touch makes it look so much better.
I love it how you left it, nice and muted! Beautiful work! As usual!
Thank you!!! I’m real life it really nice. Thanks for watching!!
Its lovely. Personally id go with your husband and lightened the veins up even more instead of darkening it up again with the steps it took to add the "details" towards the end. To me the veins are still too prominent and not subtle enough. It is beautiful though
Thank you so much!!!! ❤️❤️
I love your work.
Thank you!! I really appreciate you watching!!!
Hi, it was perfect every way you did, beautiful.
🙂👏👏👏How artistic and beautiful you are. I really enjoyed seeing your art and I learned a lot. I wish you good health and happiness with your husband. Thousands of likes from Persia 👍👍👍
You are so sweet! Thank you!!
It's perfect for the look your client is requesting, I love the softness of the veins. Very nice look.
Yes, he was right. I love the soft veining ❤️
The softened look with the touch of highlights better
Your an artist! Great Job! Love it.
Love the softer veins with just a little less bit of accents.
This turned out soooo good!! Just what I am wanting to do. Thank you for this!
Would the Ultimate Top Coat provide a similar amount of UV protection that Art Coat provides? I'm wanting to do a white marble floor similar to this design using SC floor epoxy then topping it with UTC.
It will add some what more UVA, but not as much as the Art Coat.
Thank you Rhonda. I like the softer veins. My daughter had real granite and hers has the soft veins, you can barely tell they are there. The softer veins looks more natural. Do those people know Rhonda can’t stop!!
I really like the subtle veins even though I like to keep playing 🤣🤣
Best epoxy instruction video by far. So many tips.
Wow, thanks!
If you roll a thin coat of clear epoxy on countertop first, and tape your edge, you can do a dirty pour with same colors until you use up all your material and it will flow and spread all over the top in a beautiful, natural pattern. After about 45 minutes, pull off tape and let it flow over the edge of counter. This technique gives you a fabulous rolling natural pattern that looks so real. It's absolutely fabulous! No brushing, no bubbles, no torching....
I l9ve the soft vaina
Yep. It was too much at first. Perfect retouch! Nice to know that this product is forgiving.
Thank you!! Yes. Very forgiving!! 😊
Added more detail
Yep - it’s perfect
Very nice I like it
less is best for me
Very very very soft
Nice work with the softened veins…. I came on here looking for some ideas for a white countertop I have to do today! This is exactly what my customer wants with the softer veins. 👊
I love the soft look with less deep color veins.
Thanks 😊😊
Love this! I admire the bolder, more colorful ones. They are gorgeous. BUT - I am not sure if I could live with it. This I could live with. And save the bling for smaller projects.
I like it
Lindo trabajo
I like how it looks like the cracks are deep in the stone and just lightly showing through on the polished surface.
It turned out perfectly! I agree…..the diamond dust would have been next level.
I like it the way you ended it. No more, no less
Thank you!! 😊
Great look....I like the added details. You did Awesome!
I'm fixing to do this same look for my first customer.
Thank you!
It’s a work of art I can see the details! Softening was great idea and I saw comment to add gold is a look too. Perfect marble 🙌
I like the brush technique to soften the veins. Had not seen that before. I also use a heat gun to move and soften veins.....but I like the brush. thanks.
I like the last coloring in the veins and thanks for the hot tip with the pasture bag set up
much better with whitening/softening the veins :) and the details in the end are awsome :)
The final product was just right and it should look great in the RV!
The small detail finishes at the end were just what it needed. beautiful!!
Thank you!!!!
Great value in this one. !!!!!!
Thank you so much!!
Love the softer veins! Good call!
Thanks so much!! 😊😊
I love!! I want!! Great video!!!
Awww…thank you!!
Stunning...love the soft with the added detail!!
