Wow. Definitely did not expect my band (REFORMED) to be shouted out on an Apologia Studios podcast. Amazing! It’s really crucial for men to be masculine and Christian metal is a great way to do that. Definitely gonna check out Kyle’s content
I am totally gonna use this line when someone says something off base:
"That's an interesting point of view, I think we need to change the subject"
Hat tip
Content starts at 8:18
Glad I'm not the only one who struggles with christian music.
You’re not the only one 😶
Same here brother.
I been retired from contemporary Christian and gospel music lol. I only listen to Christian hip hop and Christian rock.
Yep same, it is a struggle for sure.
We need more men and churches like this. Glory to God for apologia church
My 2 favorite podcasts! I always thought Kyle Thompson was reformed leaning based on his guests
Bro, I love both of your channels. You guys are awesome, God Bless!
This was a great show. The way youve explained things is encouraging. Thank you
Thanks for this brothers.
"We figured out a way to manage our schedules for play and bonding with friends but we never consistently find time to catechise our children. This is shame."
Fellas this was great inspiring, motivating and convicting. Thank you
Will Spencer just had a most excellent interview with Pastor Toby Sumpter on this topic on his Ren of Men podcast.
Storm the gates of hell by demon hunter is one of the best albums ever!
28:58 this may be an area that is different for everyone. I fit every category description given except the music. I listened to, and enjoyed, Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth, etc. through my teens and up to a couple of years ago (I'll be 50 this year).
I only listen to Christian stations now and don't like that music anymore. I'd never tell someone that thier preferences for music risks thier salvation but mine definitely changed.
Love to hear the support for ABR, Oh Sleeper, For Today and Convictions.
I wish For Today was still together. I'm glad we still got Demon Hunter and Impending Doom
Don’t sleep on Wolves at the Gate if you’re into the others mentioned.
Kyle, you can certainly flow, pack truth in small nuggets, you need to throw down some bars with christian rappers. 💥
Good Fight Ministries has some good stuff on secular music (i.e. Metallica, etc.). Beware. Preferences need to be submitted to Christ, too.
I need one of those lions.
So you go from someone telling you that your musical preferences put in question your salvation, to you saying other men's musical choices put in question their masculinity? 🤔
Respectfully this verse came to mind, James 1:25-27
Legacy Standard Bible
25 But one who looks intently at the perfect law, the law of freedom, and abides by it, not having become a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, this man will be blessed in [a]what he does.
26 If anyone thinks himself to be religious while not [b]bridling his tongue but deceiving his own heart, this man’s religion is worthless. 27 Pure and undefiled religion before our God and Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained [c]by the world.
In here hoping we can win Kyle over to reformedom. Lol
Why?
@@Stix_n_Stones I’m just being tongue-in-cheek bro.
I know Kyle has wrestled with the Doctrines of Grace so I was just having a little fun with the fact that he was hanging out with these guys.
@@Stix_n_StonesBecause it’s the biblical teaching, at least regarding Salvation with respect to the Doctrines of Grace
@@tb2324 ya, what about the rest? Why are you assuming he is not covered by grace?
@@Stix_n_Stoneshe said that Kyle was wrestling with the ‘doctrines of grace’, not that he’s not covered by grace.
But unto the Son he said, “Thy throne, O’ God” (Hebrews 1:8):
God glorifies himself in his Son. Why? Jesus is just like his Father; all things God has, he has given to Jesus. God speaks and does all things through his Son (Hebrews 1:2); thus, Jesus is the brightness of his Father’s glory, and the express image of his Father, and the Father is well pleased in his Son’s representation of Him. Just as Jesus tells us, we are to strive to be one with them (John 17:22). In John 10:34, Jesus said “ye are gods;” by no means are we actual ‘gods,’ but we are to resemble God and do all things as Jesus did. This is what it means for us to become one even as *they* are one.
It is the Father’s spirit that dwells in us that will raise the dead, cast out devils, and heal the sick; those who behold these wonders will witness the Father's power and spirit working through us. This is only true for those who are truly of God. As it is written in 2 Corinthians 6:16, “I will live in them and walk in them, and I will be their God and they will be my people.”
Too many soy orbitals behind pulpits. And there is no place for single people in most churches. Thank God we can get food online hah! 1 tim 3:11. (Start there! Likewise!)
As a single person in a church, i am pretty much invisible.
Forced-birth extremist: My religion says you can’t have an abortion.
Me: Your Bible says life begins at first breath; clumps of cells don’t breathe air in the womb. Genesis 2:7, He “breathed into his nostrils the breath of life and it was then that the man became a living being.”
