Helen Wagner said the first words of ATWT: "Good Morning, Dear." I wish she had been around to say the final words: "Goodnight, Dear." She came so close.

@@martinanderson784 Haha! Right. I updated my comment. I was confusing her name with that of the actress who played Maeve on Ryan's Hope.

Isn't it amazing. Marie Masters was one of the first Female Doctors on As The World Turns as Dr. Susan Stewart and Elizabeth Hubbard played Dr. Althea Gibson on The Doctors. She also appeared on the German Soap Opera Verboten Liebe. The Fans had no idea who she was until A Talk Show Host talked about her legacy. Co incidentally in The UK there's a Soap Opera called Doctors.

I would have loved for Don Hastings to have met William Roache who is now the longest running UK Soap Actor in TV History as Ken Barlow on Coronation Street since it's debut on December 9th 1960. As Dr. Bob Hughes, he could go to Coronation Street and have it be discovered that they were Old School Pen Pals.

I wonder if they had a Room above The Garage like Dr. Ed Bauer did back in the day. It could have been converted into an Apartment for Grandpa.

I told UK Soap Fans how they do SORAS (Soap Opera Rapid Aging Syndrome) and they were in stiches. When A Child is on the Show they "Grow Up" in front of the Soap Nation. I told them about the Alumni who got their start on the Show, Marisa Tomei, Julianne Moore (who are cousins), as well as Lauryn Hill, Ming Na Wen, and Jason Biggs.

@@bubbastill2040 Yes. Also in the UK The "Shows" are broadcasted in The Evening. Recently on December 9th Coronation Street celebrated it's 60th Anniversary. The Day afterwards, Barbara Windsor who played Peggy Mitchell on Eastenders died who was battling Alzheimer's and in The US Marguerite Ray who played "Mamie #1" on The Young & The Restless also died the very same day.

Also they are both award winners. Hele got an honoray Daytime emmy while Lauryn got one for The Miseducation Of Lauryn Hill.

Isn' it amazing how Daniel Cosgrove is always a "Recast". First as Scott on All My Chidren, then Bill Lewis #3 on Guiding Light then as Chris. Here's another fun fact, a Poster of The Fugees was on the Wall of Leeanne Battersby on Coronation Street.

On April 25th last year Bill Roache celebrated his 90th Birthday and he is in The UK Edition of The Guiness Book Of World Records as the longest running Soap Character in UK TV History as Ken Barlow on Coronation Street. He like Don Hastings debuted in 1960 on December 9th and 20 years later John Lennon would die.

    FINAL SEASON

Interesting thought or 2 I've had about As The World Turns... (1) If Procter & Gamble Productions had sold ownership of the show to CBS, as in letting CBS buy it, I could see ATWT still being on or lasting a few additional seasons. (2) Or if CBS and P&G had shortened ATWT back to half-hour broadcasts. While CBS' other P&G-owned soap Guiding Light may have been on life support in its final few years on the air and wish it could've gotten a 6-month extension, I honestly believe ATWT was getting better near the end of its long run.
I also miss seeing Another World, One Life To Live, and All My Children as well. Capitol was another good soap opera that was years ahead of its time that I believe had potential to be a long-running series.
Unless the streaming services, like Peacock and Paramount+, can acquire reruns of the canceled soaps, even if reviving them in terms of all new episodes may be unlikely.
