How I have Set Up Reverse On The Hyper MT Nitro

- In this video i go through how i have set the reverse up on my Hyper MT Nitro. It is set up using the option part listed below as well as a JX Ecoboost CLS6336HV servo. This servo is overkill for the job, but i plan on using a LiFe receiver battery, so i would like to switch over to all high voltage servos.
The is also a running demo of the truck going both forwards and backwards when i am still breaking the engine in at the park. It is still running very rich, but you can see i am able to stop, switch to reverse, go backwards. Then go forwards again.
The reverse does add a lot of extra rotating mass as well as the extra servo, but i think when i am running in the woods it will be useful to have reverse. The engine should have plenty of power once tuned properly as well, so it should still be pretty quick and get into 2nd gear.

I literally had no clue there was a reverse option for this kit. Thanks for the video and you're correct, there is barely any videos of this nitro truck on the tubes.
Yes. I didn't either until I looked in the manual and saw it as an option. It's one of the main things that sold me on the truck.
I also could not find any videos of it reversing.
Unfortunately I am having some drive shaft problems so any more videos are on hold until it's fixed :(
God damn this is an amazing video. I just got an MT plus 2 and after watching this I’m kind of wishing it was nitro. I had no idea how reverse worked on a nitro and you just explained it perfectly.

Finally, I’m not 100% but I believe your low speed needle sounds slightly lean.
Thanks! Yes in this video I think the exhaust gasket was causing and air leak. I have fixed the problem which is in one of my later videos. I was going to run again today, but there were too many people in the park, so I will have to go back later :)
I also nearly went with the hyper Mt plus 2 as it is a beast and fixes many issues this truck has. They didn't do a nitro version of it though, so I went with the older model and got some upgrades like the wheelie bar, front brace and reverse kit.

Thanks for this video. Iam going to install mine soon. Reverse ability is one of the main reason i chose this Hyper MT nitro. 😍 It is bad Ho Bao did not include details instructions in their manual. Even no mention on how to change the 2 speed tranny changing timing.😂
So I'm a little confused... I was expecting to see a home built solution, but what I'm seeing in the comments indicates that this is an option for the specific car/truck you have. I'm trying to figure out if it might be possible to add reversing capability to my nitro rc rally car. I just realized I haven't checked your description, so hopefully you listed info on the reverse upgrade so I can get details on how exactly it works. Thanks for sharing the video! 😁👍😎
Yeah this is a optional part for the truck, but the instructions don't really show how to set it up at all

Hi chap I just got on off these cars finding hard for parts were do you get wheely bar and the reversing kit and some shock socks and eny hop ups toowhat's the weak points of the car

I dont actually know what the weak points on the stock truck were because i bought most of the optional parts from new. I would actually recommend you get a rechargeable hump pack as the only upgrade to start with.
I would recommend you watch all my videos on the truck, but stick with the stock engine.
Do you happen to know why there isnt always a reverse built in?
Yes, there are a number of reasons.
1) it adds an extra set of gears in the gearbox which is extra rotating mass, which makes the truck slower
2) in this case it requires an extra servo and channel on the remote which would increase the cost of the truck initially.
3) people are mostly dumb and put it in reverse while going forwards and break it.
4) it's an extra linkage to set up at the factory on the assembly line.
Back when nitro cars were very popular in mid to late 2000's there were a few manufacturers that had reverse from the factory in models that were £50-100 more than the standard model and they didn't sell as well. They weren't really set up right from the factory, so people thought they were not reliable, so many people ended up doing a forward only conversion and taking the reverse kit off.
In this case for me, the reverse kit was an £75 option part, I already had a spare servo to use for it and my remote has 6 channels so I had the perfect switch to use it.
@@LawrenceTimme .. I'm person type number 3. :D I'm very bad at these things. My car has survived(except for crashing into objects) from 2010. Main issue for me is that I'm chewing through batteries..

@@LEADER0FY0U luckily on mine it's on a 3 position switch rather than 2 so I have to go into neutral before reverse.
What receiver do you use?
I think it's the fly sky BS-6. The transmitter I used is the fly sky GT5
