    OMG the leaf-blowing neighbor LOL. I'm getting an '01 set up like this. I can't wait. Last year I got the DT250 for putting around town. I just love smokers.

      @@ZSharkPH Thanks! Likewise. I also had a plated XR250R that was cool. Plating the KDX might not be easy in WA because it already has the damn ORV registration, however there is always Vermont.... PS: the DT: ua-cam.com/video/vz7naEpg1Mc/v-deo.html

      MichiganMotoMan I highly recommend it.. I noticed a lot more power threw out the power band after the FMF.

    Dude. Awesome audio quality! Sounds exactly like my KDX 200. You can hear that classic rattle too. That rattle is totally normal too actually, they all do that. Still super reliable engine. I'd love to ride the 220, everyone says it's a lot torquier than the 200. Peace.

    Nice job on the install man....might have to fatten up the main jet do a plug check. I'm still south of vegas at the moment so still unsure which direction I'm headed. I will keep in touch with you and give you some notice if I'll be headed your way cheers awesome fleet of toys!!

      Thanks WCR.. I did end up going one size bigger on the main jet. (145 stock to a 148) not sure if it was needed. As my pre mix oil was a little rich at the time. But she's running like a top now. For sure let me know if you swing threw. enjoy your trip.

    Should use blue loctite on those pipe and silencer bolts, dude. I didn't throw away my airbox cover, just modified it to flow more air.

    • @ZSharkPH
      @ZSharkPH  6 років тому

      Not a bad idea about loctite.. But mine haven't loosened at all.. thanks for watching.

    Lookin sweet, its gonna fly now! One thing, I always like to put a rubber cover/hose over the connection between the header and the silencer, keeps the noise down I like to think. Looks like someone has deleted the airbox cover for you already. Also, I recommend a cheapo spring puller for isntalling/removing exhaust springs. Cheap tool that saves your hands. I dread removing my pipe.. its so smashed up that I need a prybar to remove/install it haha.

      @ZSharkPH  7 років тому +2

      Thanks for the good info man. So are you saying I should put the lid back on? For sure going to get the rubber gasket. I'm surprised FMF didn't supply one. And I'm not looking forward to denting this pipe. But I'm sure it will happen eventually :)

    • @baruin2
      @baruin2 7 років тому +1

      Yeah, I still have the stock silencer so I just stuck the OEM one between the header and silencer.

    nice. I have that same set up. bikes runs way different with a good pipe. need to get a descent pipe guard for protection.

    • @ZSharkPH
      @ZSharkPH  7 років тому

      Couldn't agree more. Biggest improvement mod you can do to this bike. And I wasn't going to put a pipe guard on. But you have me thinking now...haha

    The 2003 220 I'm picking up next month already has the Gnarly pipe and FMF silencer (not sure which, exactly), as the owner sounds like he has it dialed in. Will check on what he's done with the piston.

    • @ZSharkPH
      @ZSharkPH  6 років тому

      Yeah I would use that as a bargaining tool if it has the OEM piston.. Even if its a original tire bike. The stock 220 piston has been known to cause problems. I would change it to a wiseco for peace of mind. Good luck with the purchase.. It's a great bike.

      Z Shark I already have a KLX 300 and really like the 4 stroke but wanted a 2t alternative without breaking the bank. As a lower-intensity rider, I can't justify spending $$ on top shelf rigs.

    Sweet! While 2-strokes are getting harder to come by, I find it fascinating that the Hard Enduro guys use them almost exclusively! I've sold all of mine except the Odyssey 350..getting old...lol

    • @ZSharkPH
      @ZSharkPH  7 років тому +1

      Cool man, I had to search a couple videos on the Odyssey. Looks like they go pretty good. And yeah as you can tell I like 4 strokes and 2 strokes. But I'm loving this KDX right now. Fun light little bike with some go.

      I vaguely remember hearing about them back in the day. But I've never had one, or know anyone who has. You should make a video on it :)

    how did she run out? i am running the stk exhaust with the air box lid removed.jetting is still rich on mine.have to lean it out some.....i have read on the forums to replace the stk piston asap when mounting an aftermarket exhauat on the 220.

    • @ZSharkPH
      @ZSharkPH  7 років тому +1

      She's running almost perfect. FMF's website said to go one size up on the main. Needle in 3rd clip position. So thats what i did and it runs great. And Yeah the OEM piston is a ticking time bomb from what I here as well. I'm going to replace mine pretty soon. For sure get the FMF desert gnarly pipe. It's a whole new bike. Night and day..Video coming soon.

    Did you change out the jets in the carburetor?

    • @ZSharkPH
      @ZSharkPH  6 років тому +1

      Initially I left the stock jetting to see how it would run.. I later went up on the main.. Not sure what size.. can't remember.. And also changed one clip on needle. I had my pre mix off on this vid also.. She runs much better now.. thanks for watching.

    • @dajackisback4609
      @dajackisback4609 6 років тому +1

      Thanks so much, do you recall what website you bought the jets from? I’m having trouble finding the whole kit and the single ones.

    • @ZSharkPH
      @ZSharkPH  6 років тому +1

      I use Rockymountainatv for most of my purchases.. Pretty sure you can get individual jets or a kit. Give them a call. Most of them are pretty knowledgable.... 75 or more is free shipping also.

    KDX 220 .... What a disaster on low end torque compared to the older 200 sent my motor to "pro circut" they guaranteed I would be happy with their porting on the exhaust port by lowering it which included welding and re nickle sil ,with a work's "wood's pipe" , $1700 later and my stock 95 KDX200 with a FMF pipe would not only pull logs further but also outrun it on the big end ! same gearing BTW ! KDX 220..... DISASTER IMO!!!

    • @StilwellMotovlogger
      @StilwellMotovlogger 6 років тому

      When I bought my 95 kdx 200 it was already ported, didnt find oit till months later when i had a bunch of motor work done. I have power whenever I want it. My bike has great low-end but you can still get on the gas and fly through some trails
