Yep it's a good price! It's around that from most net-shops. Have a look at the Vintage and Rare Guitars website for fuzz stuff though, and Charlie Chandler's Guitar Experience too - both have a great selection.
iv been looking at alot of fuzzes and I usually buy j rocket audio or wampler pedals or some boutique but I gotta say this fuzz sounds better then alot of the more expensive ones iv been looking at.
Wasn't talking about this pedal in particular...just what you wanted. If you want two different sounds like that you'd be better off with say, this one for the more modern sound, and a germaniam of some kind for the vintage sound...or even a Solid Gold FX '69 (think it's called sumit like that) I'm pondering getting one atm...
The pedal modifies the sound that is coming from your guitar, the amplifier still produces the changed sound for you to hear. Guitar-----Pedal-----Amp, the dots represent cables, the same so you plug into your amp.
@ritaritafans I personally use the FZ-5 with a SD-1 and it gives it some clarity and a bit of overdrive, the versatility is amazing too. I can play anything that I want.
I just got a tube amp yesterday, and I love it, but it doesn't have very saturated distortion unless you crank the thing (and that's not gonna happen in my house since it's 120 watts hahaha) but i was wondering if this would be a good pedal to use sometimes on top of the tube overdrive for a nice lead tone?
I'd agree about In Utero. But last I heard Turbo Mode 1 was exactly the same as the DS-1 tone. So couldn't you get the Nevermind sound with the DS-2? (Except Lithium, of course, that's the Big Muff.)
This may come as a shock to you, but some people don't need to make it to have "made it". I love music, plain and simple. Hopefully you will enjoy it for what it is someday. Good luck with your pop, love to hear some of it.
@KingHellFrown The bootique pedal market is bigger than ever now, there's a zillion excellent sounding clones as well as original designs out there for anyone's style, taste and budget. It's never been this easy to buy or even build a kickass sounding new pedal or a replica of some vintage fuzz.
PLZ PPL I NEED YOUR OPINION :) i've only got a distortion atm and i was wondering watt should i buy digital delay or fuzz (i want a red hot chili peppers sound) and i have a strat
Generally the fuzz pedal is catagorised with 60's and 70's rock bands, such as the Jimi Hendrix experience (hence why he plays the purple haze chords a lot), and Cream used it excessively. Thats probably why he is using bluesy rock riffs. :)
@MrGroovySmoothie Anything would 'work' on bass, but a fz-5/3 would probably my last choice as a Bass fuzz. FZ-2 might sound cool though, depending what type of tone you're after.
does anyone know which pedal I should get, I'm looking for a Guns N' Roses sound, should I get a marshall jackhammer jh-1 or a boss ds-2? Or has anyone got any suggestions? Could someone please reply to this message or send me a private message, thanks
The people complaining about the quality of this video or the quality of the FZ-5, obviously don't know the pedals it's meant to emulate. The maestro is supposed to sound like crap and the octavia is supposed to be noisey as hell. Most of the classic recordins done with the FuzzFace were done as much with an overdriven marshall clean channel as they were with the drive from the pedal. So yea, this pedal pretty much does what it's supposed to.
At 2:16 when he turns to the MEASTRO setting and changes the fuzz to 12 o'clock and beyond I think it sounds pretty good. I would use that setting for certain very simple synths (like the Moog Rogue or the WASP and things like that) to make them sound more expensive and variable.
i have this, good for the 60s and 70s classic rock, going into the boost side of the fuzz control just kills the sound, cant hear notes properly, its like using metalzone and metalcore together on the octavia setting full fuzz
@triviani1234 It seems all of my favorite players that had some kind of boss pedal have switched to MXR or a signature from another brand. MXR, EHX, Way Huge, Dunlop, DigiTech, DeviDriver etc. I have a few, but they are good. I want to swap them though! The only Boss pedal that will never leave my board is the TU-3!
zvex is pretty cool. i think their fuzz factory is going to be, pretty much, the modern equivalent to the big muff. as far as popularity, and coolness. i also have recently gotten a 70s fender blender. INSANE. check out pro guitar shops video library for different fuzz pedals... i really like the black out effectors fix'd fuzz. that is one WAY cool fuzz.
Although Dunlops up there too :) I have the original CryBaby :D Works great but I'm looking for a Boss BD2 Blues Driver or a pedal like it to get that kind of Slash/Hendrix sound . Maybe experiment it with the CryBaby and see what happens :D
When you are using a foot pedal you need 2 cables. One cable plugs from the amp into one side of the pedal and the other cable plugs in from the other side of the pedal to the guitar. When you press the pedal on., the sound comes out of your amp. Hope this helps. Good luck with your music.
weird, ive got a good old EHX Big Muff Pi NYC and it sounds nothing like id hoped.cause John frusciante has an amazing fuzz tone, and thats his main fuzz, but to me it sounds nothing alike.
Prog stuff requires a very tight distortion. DS-2 would be a pretty good call. I actually (I know I'll get all kinds of rage thrown at me for this) would recommend the Ibanez DS-7, it has loads of growl and sustain and it's still smooth enough for shreddy leads. Also it's very cheap, I got mine for like ten bucks.
It wouldn't matter who the reviewer is, everyone would hate him; seems to be some trend or something. I paid attention to the pedal, and learned most of what I needed to know about it. It could be Doris Day demoing the pedal for all I'd care.
i have this Fuzz Fz-5 and mine sounds a lot fuzzier and makes notes hardly ring, mines more of a buzz, he obviously uses his amp to make the pedals better than they are.
i salute you my stoner brother... well fuzz today is mostly used on the stoner and all that stuff... but also used on hard rock or plain rock, vintage rock also but of course the tune of guitar gives the PUNCH they need to,
i do that all the time man kicks ass! gives it a nice crunchy tone
another great review
Love the guitar's color!
Yep it's a good price! It's around that from most net-shops. Have a look at the Vintage and Rare Guitars website for fuzz stuff though, and Charlie Chandler's Guitar Experience too - both have a great selection.
great review i was waiting for it, how bout one with the dyna drive, the giga delay, the slicer, all of the double pedals, it would be pretty cool
And here comes vocabulary to try to make up for lack of any real experience shown. True UA-cam greatness.
i just saw that same guitar on ebay it had the stickers and everything!
iv been looking at alot of fuzzes and I usually buy j rocket audio or wampler pedals or some boutique but I gotta say this fuzz sounds better then alot of the more expensive ones iv been looking at.

That"s Right!All the cool licks!:-)
Love the maestro mode! Almost sound like Dwarfcrafts starve feature
I like the fuzz face sound in this
The pedal modifies the sound that is coming from your guitar, the amplifier still produces the changed sound for you to hear.
Guitar-----Pedal-----Amp,
the dots represent cables, the same so you plug into your amp.
Smoke on the water+Boss fuzz pedal=Masterpiece
and he loves that riff...
@ritaritafans I personally use the FZ-5 with a SD-1 and it gives it some clarity and a bit of overdrive, the versatility is amazing too. I can play anything that I want.
yeah, this COSM stuff just does not cut the mustard.
i had the fdr pedal by boss and got rid of it quickly.
got to have the real thing.
Im looking for a thick, but smooth distortion with plenty of mids available, anyone got any suggestions?
i have an octavio octave fuzz and i dunno whether or not to get a big muff or a fuzz face now to compliment it
What should i get Boss FZ-5, Ibanez TS9 tube screamer, or electro harmonix Big muff??
I'd agree about In Utero. But last I heard Turbo Mode 1 was exactly the same as the DS-1 tone. So couldn't you get the Nevermind sound with the DS-2? (Except Lithium, of course, that's the Big Muff.)
@WuzzMcWaffleStein Go for the Danelectro Coolcats. I think they sound really great.
This may come as a shock to you, but some people don't need to make it to have "made it". I love music, plain and simple. Hopefully you will enjoy it for what it is someday. Good luck with your pop, love to hear some of it.
jason spencer is tha man

PLZ PPL I NEED YOUR OPINION :)
i've only got a distortion atm and i was wondering watt should i buy digital delay or fuzz (i want a red hot chili peppers sound) and i have a strat
what is the difference overdrive and a fuzz? iam sorry kinda newbie thanks
i like fuzz , sounds great on stratocaters
I have a distortion pedal. Do you reckon it's worth buying a fuzz pedal too?? They sound great dont they.
Was that the fuzz pedal witch Jimi Hendrix used and if not witch fuzz pedal is it
What pedal has less gain: Fuzz (FZ-50 or Overdrive (OD-3)??
@Kradoz He's also always playing with the knobs! guitar, pedal, amp knobs! Sometimes he just touches it without even turning it!!! ...
Generally the fuzz pedal is catagorised with 60's and 70's rock bands, such as the Jimi Hendrix experience (hence why he plays the purple haze chords a lot), and Cream used it excessively. Thats probably why he is using bluesy rock riffs. :)
anybody knows if it works well with a wah?
@95leftover It looks stupid but I don't mind the mellower sound.
i liked the overdriven octavia sound. pretty sweet. i would have loved to hear some riffage as opposed to the wankin.
What's the best fuzz pedal for early Zep sounds?
@MrGroovySmoothie
Anything would 'work' on bass, but a fz-5/3 would probably my last choice as a Bass fuzz. FZ-2 might sound cool though, depending what type of tone you're after.
is this pedal good to play a music like mudhoney or 90's altern. rock??
What are the 2 other pedals that you are using with that FZ-5 ? I see Dyna drive, but whats the white one ?
exactly. i like either usa big muff or russian big muff.
would this pedal be good for that early Pumpkins sound?
hey how much is the pedal
yay it does
Nice.!!
Can you use this with a bass guitar?
yup..its really expensive for a guitar pedal, but its really worth the money..i just bought it from ebay, the zvex series..sound awesome!
@falloftroy555222 it's not a distortion pedal though
can u get a fuzz factory tone with this?
does anyone know which pedal I should get, I'm looking for a Guns N' Roses sound, should I get a marshall jackhammer jh-1 or a boss ds-2? Or has anyone got any suggestions?

is the octa-mode a sub or an up octave?
@Kimmocheck unfortunately, that is true, "In a long time"
however, that does not say that he is very good at all.
which guitar does jason uses there?
fuzz and distorsion are the same????
Why I can only see a green scrren?
@prophetdude2 are you saying John fruciante is a bad player? do you know anything?! anything at all?
At 2:16 when he turns to the MEASTRO setting and changes the fuzz to 12 o'clock and beyond I think it sounds pretty good.

Haha when I saw your name in my inbox thing, I thought it was my name at first haha
@95leftover
best of both speakers? ;D
what amp are you playing through?
this is the bloody sound of the desert
how much is that?
I like the Fuzzface setting.
@triviani1234 It seems all of my favorite players that had some kind of boss pedal have switched to MXR or a signature from another brand. MXR, EHX, Way Huge, Dunlop, DigiTech, DeviDriver etc.

NICE FUZZ
I liked it :S

whats COSM?
that white pedal is a noise suppressor
the octave up sounds more subtle in this pedal.
@prophetdude2 uhmm well he is just one of the best players in a long time
The maestro mode sounds messy. I LIKE :D
@superskatefreak3000 I recommend just checkin some pedals on youtube that you enjoy. for example I like MXR pedals.
This pedal or little big muff?
@vetzaaak Please,puedes traducir a español?
Zep didnt really use pedals. Just turn your volume up and you will start to distort.
and I also forgot to mention that it also makes you feel like its slicing your signal in half. Like fruit ninja or something, only precious signal.
yup...thx man
of course
Although Dunlops up there too :) I have the original CryBaby :D Works great but I'm looking for a Boss BD2 Blues Driver or a pedal like it to get that kind of Slash/Hendrix sound . Maybe experiment it with the CryBaby and see what happens :D
Listen to one of Mudhoneys album and you might start to like it
@chuecco
i have been a youtube viewer for years
and i think this is the best comment ever!

@vetzaaak - Ha ha ha, I know, right???? It's like hanging out at Guitar Center on a Saturday afternoon!
Get the original crybaby and the boss OS-2 it's a Overdrive/Distortion Pedal that gets any sound you could ever want in terms of crunch/grind/fuzzish
weird, ive got a good old EHX Big Muff Pi NYC and it sounds nothing like id hoped.cause John frusciante has an amazing fuzz tone, and thats his main fuzz, but to me it sounds nothing alike.
both clip the audio, but I think fuzz does it a bit 'cleaner' if you get me - fuzz is more of a 'broken amp' tone
Prog stuff requires a very tight distortion. DS-2 would be a pretty good call. @vetzaaak Ahah yeah, i am also tired to hear blues licks over and over and over again when i want to check out a pedal!
i have this Fuzz Fz-5 and mine sounds a lot fuzzier and makes notes hardly ring, mines more of a buzz, he obviously uses his amp to make the pedals better than they are.
good name
I was thinking the same thing.
@PhilFoxNJ Wow 120 naa man u got just go to guitarcenter and buy it for $97.97 probably even cheaper if u want a used one on ebay or anywhere else!
fuzz is more like a buzzsaw sound. Fuzz is kinda warm toned too.
Distortion, is well, loud.
Two pedals are better than one if you're wanting two different sounds...then you can switch while gigging obviously
i salute you my stoner brother... well fuzz today is mostly used on the stoner and all that stuff... but also used on hard rock or plain rock, vintage rock also but of course the tune of guitar gives the PUNCH they need to,
