I love this replay analysis ur doing. I have the monty and the hindy so I can really see what these 2 players tried to do and what exactly they did wrong. Please continue this.
Hi, so I'm the one who sent in the Montana replay, and I did it primarily because I had trouble citadeling the enemy Montana and couldn't figure out why. I understand that I was aiming too high now, but I learned a lot from this replay besides that. I had completely forgotten about locking on to another ship when targeting ships in smoke, I learned that I need to learn when to disengage earlier, and I learned to have proper respect for enemy battleships when I'm maneuvering while detected. I do still prefer the legendary module to the concealment module (particularly in the era of permaspotting by CVs), but I still respect Flamu's opinion on it. However, I do have one question for Flamu, and the viewers if he doesn't see this comment, that I wasn't able to ask during the commentary, and that is captain build. I am running my only 19-point captain in the game on the Montana, and I have built: PT, EM, SI, CE, FP, BoS, and AR. I don't yet have Halsey, but I was thinking of either putting him on my Montana, or putting him on my DM and moving John Doe (my current DM captain) to the Montana for the enhanced skills. My question is which skill to give up to spec into EL as Flamu suggested, as that seems like a good idea to me. My thought was to trade FP for EL, PM, and HA. Is there more optimal trade out there?
Flamu's build trades BoS for EL and JoaT. It is more important to keep FP than BoS. (You can see example in, for instance, the Alaska commentary: ua-cam.com/video/owz7Z3LxKqs/v-deo.html )
Flamu, thank you for doing this type of vid. The moment to moment commentary is extremely helpful with understanding your thought process and how you approach a match. I am learning tons, so again Thank you.
russian cruiser: just because they have radar not mean it need to go front early on to spot DD. difficult to disengage coz poor rudder, large turning circle and concealment. if stuck behind island, also hard to shoot anything due shells ballistic
Yeah for some reason people often try to take the Donskoi into radar range. I often have to tell clan mates to stay the fuck away and ignore the radar for the first half of the match. Strangely if I ask them if they played the Chapaev this aggressively they usually say they didn't. I wonder what makes them think doing it in the Donskoi would be a good idea.
Hi Flamu, first of all thx to the players who send you the Vids. Its not only good for them to learn from there mistakes, no its also good for us. Also your comentary about every situation , and how they should have perfomed it was great. I watch your vids everytime time i get a new ship!!! And if not :-) Right now its the Tschapa . Just after 5 min mark, I just learnt something new after 1000's of games. Smoke shooting being locked on a different target. That's a real pro tip. I like it.
I can appreciate that I have become a more than decent player from watching a daily dose of warships videos for years now. Right as Flamu started calling mistakes my butt puckered a second before. It's a good sign. That means my map awareness as I am watching a battle unfold is on point. I dont necessarily always know why I am doing things the way I do in the exact moment I do it. It's based on feeling that is in turn based on experience. But it starts by taking advice seriously and being open to learning from potato games you yourself played.
These are in fact the 2 ships I play most so this is a most welcome video for me. Totally (accidentally) tailor made for me! The way the Donskoi is played in this match is also very much similar to how I play it so the criticism here is VERY much what I needed to hear.
That commentary on the 2nd one was amazing. :'D And I agree with the rework statement of yours. I am still struggling playing the moskwa - positioning and everything - cause its really different to everything before.. with Donskoi I was always on the move and kinda far away to lob these fires onto them.. not what you gonna do with the moswa though. :D
I think that the Donskoi player had actually asked his teammates not to run at around the 21min marker, perhaps he thought that his flank should be left guarded lest those enemy ships roll-in and catch his team in a crossfire
@@TheGrandexeno I agree, he could have better defended that side of the map by doin a kiting defense at the spawn instead of anchoring at that island. Good intentions but bad executions.

Thank you : ).. Had really good games on donskoi.. Commented before the end of this video.. that video you showed is the one that helped.. !!
iirc, the Donksoi has insane turret traverse angles if you're facing your ass towards the enemy. You can get all your turrets on your enemy by showing absolutely minimal broadside if you're guns are pointing to the rear.
I feel like these replays are too bad to get the most out of this format- the mistakes (2nd one particularly) are so obvious that the players must know what was wrong- they're not idiots, they're Flamu subs so clearly that's not their standard. I feel like a reasonably decent game by an average player would be great for analysis since many of us would be thinking it's good and we could learn where it could be better. Edit: To be clear though, I love this format.
I've never seen a reason to play Dmitri with anything other than the 20.6 km range build. Sure it suffers more at close range, but I can happily zip around shelling BBs while dodging their fire. Maybe it's a bit ridiculous to have that much range, but for me it works
I do agree that both players have Target Fixation. If anything, mini-map awareness and reading the flow of the battle is the most important skill as a captain. E.g. the Montana should have disengaged from that flank as he had no support once the other ships turned round towards the islands. Same thing could be said for the Donskoi as he kept trying to farm the Jean Bart when his flank utterly collapsed and left it way too late to leave.
Not right, if he had a steath build and he could aim a bit better to devestate the enemy monti, he could easy stay on the flank an be a big problem for the smolensk and the other ships, giving up a flank is the last possible way to stay a live.
I played her with the reload module, captain skills are fairly standard cruiser skills. Some play her with the range module, but for me this didn’t work well, it lacked the dpm for me

I have watched iChase's videos on aiming, I've watched Flambass and Flamu for over a year, and my aim has improved marginally if at all over the past year. At this point I'm wondering if its a neurological issue because I have major issues with spatial reasoning in real life as well.
@@heardistance I do understand basic techniques, such as angling. The issue is decision making and anticipating what enemy players are going to do. The former is something I need to get better at, the latter is something that I'm not sure I'm capable of getting better at.
@@heardistance dude u literally hv to play nothing else than Wot if u want to reach T10. The climb in Wows is long, but balanced. He simply didn't know how to improve
The Montana game is a perfect example of someone who didn't actually play through the BB line and used free Exp to get to it. Everything, literally everything that player did was wrong in so many accounts. What's more infuriating, is he played the ship enough to get the legendary module, yet still plays like an absolute potato. He didn't even know the weaknesses of his own ship that he was playing against...
I am the person who sent in the Montana and I did not use Free XP to get ANY of the ships. I played played through them all to get to the Montana, which was my first Tier X ship. And while I disagree with the characterization of playing as a potato (I DO know the weaknesses of the Montana rather well, having played 159 games in it), I know I'm not a very good player, which is why I sent the replay to Flamu to try to improve. In fact, I recorded his commentary using my camera because I didn't know he would post this to UA-cam. I learned a lot from what Flamu said, so I hope you'll understand that I'm trying to get better.
@@mknote ok, thanks for replying. I will say it was admirable to send something in to be evaluated. I understand now that because Montana is your first tier X, you need more battles in it to get a better feel for it. Sorry if I seemed harsh, but you need to understand that after 159 games in the Montana, you should be rather effective in it, think about your teammates. What I'm trying to say is, you should go back to the NC sometime, it's the perfect ship to teach this type of gameplay. If you knew the ship's weaknesses, it would have shown in the demo. You're not going to convince me after me seeing that. Go back to the roots and fundamentals, and build up from there. ✌️👆😉 I too learn from these videos, because flamu always has something great to provide for all skill levels.
@@renski8976 I will go back to NC (and Iowa) to try and learn these things better, but I do have a grasp of the fundamental ideas (angling, aiming, etc.) even if I suck at the implementation. For instance, I know I need to angle (there was a point I did that when closing distance with the broadside Montana), but my brain can't tell the difference between a 65 degree angle and a 70 degree angle, so often times I find I'm not angled enough and I get a nice juicy 30k zapped from my health bar when I thought I'd be bouncing shells. And I actually thought I was aiming low enough, which is why I was confused I wasn't hitting the citadel. And then there's decision making (knowing when to disengage for instance) and keeping an eye on the whole battlefield instead of just what's in front of me, issues that I don't know if I'll ever be able to fix due to certain mental issues I face (I'm basically incapable of multitasking).
@@mknote There are ways of figuring out if you're angled enough, for instance, in the video flamu said the best way to keep angled is to make sure your back turrets are at the perfect angle right before you can't shoot them, the Montana was designed with this in mind (unlike the GK). Next time when you're playing, don't push up so close to where you're tunnel vision keeps you from noticing the minimap, make the map bigger by using the plus key on your keyboard, or whatever key you use lol. You don't need to multitask much if you have better positioning in the Montana, you have literally 30 seconds between each shot to figure out what to do next. I'm glad you're taking this serious and wanting to improve, I hope the next time you play the Montana, or any ship for that matter, you will do great.
@@mknote Don't worry, I can feel you since Monty was also my first T10 BB. "30k zapped from my health bar when I thought I'd be bouncing shells." Monty can eat huge chunks in this close battles when you don't expect it. Even Flamu got a 23K slap in his Georgia commentary when he thought he was well angled. Yesterday I got a Salvo in on a angling Yamato for 21K (only pens) which is kinda impossible with the normal rng and dispersion... it just happens. So if you use your rear turrets, do it with thinking of the trade is worth it or you angling allows it. And for the multitask, you will get there when you understand the mechanics behind everything all will become an automatism. So good luck captain and thanks for your bravery to entertain and make us all better.
That was thee worst play I've probably ever seen in that Donskoi match... If he wanted to island hug and play that passively then play a US light or heavy cruiser line instead. After playing that far up the Russian light cruiser line I dk how a player couldn't be used to the whole drive full speed 24/7 and kite with HE around the map play style of the Rusky CAs from like tier 6 and up until you hit Moskva.

@@heardistance Yes, my aim does suck, and I have no idea how to improve it (Montana replay was mine).
I too learn from these videos, because flamu always has something great to provide for all skill levels.
NA server and not a survival expert 🤔🤔
That was thee worst play I've probably ever seen in that Donskoi match... If he wanted to island hug and play that passively then play a US light or heavy cruiser line instead. After playing that far up the Russian light cruiser line I dk how a player couldn't be used to the whole drive full speed 24/7 and kite with HE around the map play style of the Rusky CAs from like tier 6 and up until you hit Moskva.
Hey flamu make a shikishima vid please
With the average level of the comunity you got years of work in this kind of section called ¨Doctor i´m in troubles!¨, good luck with that.
Lol i played as well as the donskoi today for me just a giant shitshow
watching flamu and still playing so bad? lool
Donskoi sucks, its way too easy to blap it from any angle.
Dis
That donskoi player was dreadful...
