    LOVED (and salivated!!) watching the video! Sugg (if I may), I'd use a CLEAN grease catch pan and SAVE that bacon grease (it can be stored in the fridge)!! Use it when cooking eggs or potatoes or ???? It will ADD a TON of flavor to the NEXT ingredient, believe me! I can smell it now, espec, if you're brewing coffee in the outside kitchen! I doubt, it will only be those in the tents; it'll be a MASSIVE number of fellow campers hangin' out at your campsite!
    Y'all Be Safe!

    Another professional and always interesting video, after only a week from the previous one, like the good old days 👌. BTW for such cases, I like to use grilling sheets as an alternative to the griddle and in order to use the most out of the grate's surface. Thanks a lot.

    Nice video as usual. And I also really like mine. Just for all the campers and other outdoor grillers, break your eggs at home, stir them and transport in a small water bottle. Saves space in your cooler and avoids mess. Will stay fresh for several days when you respect standard hygienic rules.

    Food on the grill good to see. Now I know you want to use your Q griddle, but considering the bacon grease problem and you did say the Q runs a bit hot why not just use a cast iron skillet. I believe a 10" would fit nicely. Just a thought. Now about the eggs. The way to tell for freshness is by how runny the whites are . If firm fresh. A bit runny, not as much. The color of the yolk depends on what the hen's have been eating. Some folks give things like marigolds flowers to really improve the color. And the color of the shell has to do with the color of the hens ears for some reason. They are a way to find out who's laying and who's not. Just a little information from my little homestead. I like that you did something different. I always liked how you mixed things up. Looking forward to seeing your next vid. 🐓🍳🥓

    • @victorbenner539
      @victorbenner539 5 років тому

      @Gavin Smith first off just so I'm not misunderstood I have a great deal of respect for his videos. As to where to place the skillet I believe a 10" would fit nicely in the middle of the grill. And the extra iron from the skillet would tame the heat from the Q. I'm hoping that he responds to the question. He's good at replys. And he might remember I'm a big fan of cast iron when I can use it so please keep that in mind if in the future you see me suggest it. Some griddles might even fit on the Q. But it makes sense to use the Q's griddle if you already have one,right?

    • @GallaghersGrub
      @GallaghersGrub  5 років тому

      Interesting info about the eggs. I do vids for the griddle because I know people are considering buying one and want to see it in action. I kind of like it. I have used a cast iron skillet on the Q before in my beer brats vid. A 10.5 inch skillet fits fine as long as the handle isn't very long. Watch the vid here:

    • @victorbenner539
      @victorbenner539 5 років тому +1

      @@GallaghersGrub I have watched it and enjoyed it and others you have done. I only mentioned the skillet because of the potential grease problem. And I almost didn't say anything about the eggs but in the end I thought you wouldn't mind. The rich golden color does make the eggs look much better and I'm considering growing a lot of marigolds for the chickens next year. Here's a egg nugget for you. If you don't clean the eggs they will last 3 weeks on the counter at room temperature. But the US department of agriculture requires egg producers to clean them shorting their shelf life. In Europe the egg producers are not allowed to clean them and that is why you will find them on the counters at the grocery stores there. When you raise your own chickens you do as you please. 🥚🐓🥚🐓🍳

    great videos, I noticed in your unboxing video of the griddle, you cooked bacon, seasoned the griddle and used olive oil prior to cooking your bacon. have you discovered oil isn't needed on the griddle when you are cooking, now that you had pre-seasoned it?

    • @GallaghersGrub
      @GallaghersGrub  4 роки тому

      I don't think you actually need to season it as it is enamel coated cast iron. Plus, Weber recommends you can use soap to clean it. Just used the griddle yesterday and yes, I used oil. Hope this helps.

    Oh, sure, BACON! There we go again. Now, let's take this up another level 😋 If your cholesterol level is OK (or when in possession of some good cholesterol lowering medication), instead of getting rid of the bacon grease (shame on you sir) just take a blueberry jam or wild cherry jam sandwich and soak it in the bacon grease. I'm not kidding, it's heaven (or straight to heaven if you have cholesterol issues).

      Congrats on the new Q. It's a great little grill. I try to put the temps in my videos. When using the griddle like in this video, just know that it gets hot and will burn butter so I typically run it on low to medium low heat.
