Hi Ken, Nice to see you back at the old layout.. I was told years ago.. always put the lightest carriages at the end of the train which causes fewer derailments, if they are in the middle of a consist they are the ones that will fall over or try to straighten out the bends because you have 3 forces acting on it, forward, backward and sideways. Enjoy.
This looks really cool! Some things I would recommend would be a steam locomotive to go with those old 1860s wooden coaches, the BNSF diesel looks so goofy in front of them a large town somewhere next to the lake and some advice, instead of having 3 different units throughout the entire train, I think having all three or 2 of the units at the front and one at the back so it would be more realistic. Cheers!
Try to put all the engines together at the front of the train. With them in the middle they can push the cars off the track. Glad to see you enjoying your trains
Hi Ken! Great channel.....love the trains! Just a thought or idea....in the room with the original layout, might it be possible to make an elivated layout of tracks mounted to the walls mounted above the original layout, using it as a mountain train pass ( like in tbe alps ). You could dismantel what ever you need from the second layout and repurpose it to the room of the original layout, keeping cost of materials to a minimum. Maybe paint of purchase a mountain scenery back drop to the walls to give it the effect of a train running through the mountains. May build a small mountain village along one wall with a tunnel running across another wall. Just some food for thought. Good luck and please keep the train videos coming!!! 👍👍👍
Well first off you need a little town with an old-fashioned church. If you don't have an old-fashioned church, it aint a good train track. Another thing is you need a railroad yard. And another thing you definitely need. Maybe some housing farmhouses. Barns, you know some stuff like that on there. So it'll look good.
I like both tracks. This one has a ton of time invested, from the appearance. Be very cool to see the new buildings when you have time. This one has come along nicely lately with the grass and dirt road additions. Looking sharp! The other one seems urban and this one rural ... I like the contrast.
Hey Ken. Have you looked at Temu. They have some great miniature outdoor decorations and bridges. I bought a heap off there to help decorate around the base of the wire bonsai trees I make. I bought some fake hills and boulders as well. Jus type in miniature bridges and ponds.
A switch yard and industry. This could be added to the original layout by extending your original layout. I enjoyed switching cars from a mainline to different industries. Have fun.
@@Kens265 I knew a guy that worked at Amtrak in Beech Grove, IN. He had a Ho 4X8 Layout with an Elevated Track Section. He run his Locomotives like Slotcars Real Fast! But he made his own Signs, Lights, & Buildings for the layout. Short Story, my brother has his Layout!
Speed matching locos running DC is very difficult. We saw the second loco catch up with the tail of the train. That can only mean that it is faster than #1. They say to just make sure the fastest loco leads to keep from compressing couplers. Have fun.
Hi Ken & it's is Randy and i like yours video is Cool & Thanks Ken & Friends Randy & Super Cool Ken & The Bets a Luck On The New Layout Thanks Ken & Good Friends Randy
Once you get some more rolling stock each loco should easily pull 10 cars so putting the train together like your doing you should break your record with a 30 car train!!! 😁👍
I like this layout, its relaxing to look at. The other one envokes tension. Maybe because it has no scenery? Ha ha ha Congrats on making the three locos work.
Great running session !!! My current record is 38 cars: www.youtube.com/@tomsmaerklintrainlayout6742/search?query=38%20cars. I tested a bunch of my locos and all of them were able to pull this pretty heavy freight train (a lot of cars have metal chassis).
Whatever layout you do on the other one it will definitely take time which is not a problem for a retied person, unless youre Ken because he seems to of not slowed down any 😊
Cool, can just image the people stuck in traffic for 21 car to roll by. Hopefully they are not impatient drivers. That layout looks too peaceful to have complaining drivers. Hahahaha! Are there going to be cars in this lay out or are you going to go way back and have horse and buggy. 🐴
My longest US freight train so far in 2021, need to try this again with all the US cars I've acquired since then: ua-cam.com/video/TgZM48g5FaU/v-deo.htmlsi=P__QDsOqI6eGv60N

I sure enjoy the locomotive noises. It adds a lot of realism to railroading.
You know, I actually think I like this layout better. Both are great, but there's something about this layout that my eyes prefer.

Try two leading and one in the middle..great layout.

Thanks so much!

That's a great idea! Thanks
I like this layout way better, keeping it simple and beautiful is where the enjoyment comes from, full steam ahead.
Thanks
Do they make a tiny camera you could mount on the locomotive to get a track view 🤔?
It was nice of Chad to come over and keep you company while you played with the trains :D Don't need height out in the rural areas!
You got that right!
Cool Video! Sometimes one has to step back & have Some Fun!
You got that right!

Good advice. Thanks
Ken you need a dust sheet for the layout to keep it clean and ready to play old boys with their toys
I do!

Wow, its been a year since this jouney started, where did time go?
I know. Right

I think you’re right
Hey! I don't think that Chad is paying attention!!! :)
Haha

Love the old lantern, not HO scale.
Haha
Good day.
Good day to you

Sweet
The rolling stock look too good. You need some graffiti on them.
Haha you’re right
Get your brother help on changing plastic wheel sets to metal wheels
