Great that these gems keep popping up on UA-cam. I've seen most of these shows back in the day. The live audience and curtain calls are always fun! I think the stagehand was having a little fun with the curtain...
Can't even believe I'm seeing this. Saw this original Bway production shortly after it opened, when I was 16 years old. Fell in love and went on to see the show a total of 20 times, the last being the final performance at the St. James where it had moved by then. I still have the pictures and news clippings. This is like walking back in time, seeing the incredible Lee Roy Reams, Wanda Richert, and of course the BEST Julian Marsh ever, Jerry Orbach, who went out of his way to say hi to me EVERY time we passed on the street years after those many times I hung out at the stage door and had moved to Manhattan to make my own career in show biz. He was one of a kind. If any of you original 42nd Street chorus kids see this, none of us are kids any more, but boy did you all give this kid a HUGE thrill every time I saw you. I'll never forget it.
Saw this same production, very early in the run - I was smitten and hooked from the opening number !! Jerry Orbach was Magnificent ! The voices, those huge voices…..and correct me if I am wrong but No microphones in their wigs. Gritty and gripping, this is times musical theater at its best.
@@zmaxhunterThank you. Yes I have also seen her on Facebook but have unfortunately been disappointed in her political opinions which she shares very frankly. It turned me off. I respect her right to that opinion though and respect even more her contribution to my love of tap, my love of 42nd Street, and the thrill I had many times seeing that show (several times while she was still in it).
I remember seeing this production on Broadway. I'm so happy to see it was recorded for prosperity.
To actually see Jerry Orbach on the Broadway stage!!! Heaven!,
Thank you so much. 😊❤️🎶👏👏👏👏👏👏👏

I recall seeing 42nd street with Lisa Brown 4 times. . Just a classic! Jerry Orbach was phenomenal. Met them backstage too.
I saw the show on Broadway in the original run, but in 1985. I doubt many of the original cast was still in it.
