Dear Farah,
Thanks for all the content you put out. I just had a call with a recruiter yesterday and all the tips in your video really helped me to prepare for the inevitable question, "Tell me about yourself". Call went well, and now I'm just waiting on my technical interview to be scheduled. I've been on the hunt for a while now after experiencing a lay-off and the passing of a loved one, and your content has been an incredible resource on my job hunt journey.
Some of what I love:
- how you break down concepts and tackle problems with formulas
- video editing
- the little bits of humor that add some levity
All the best,
JB
I love the way she keeps her videos under 10min esp 6-8 min, 👍
Farah’s formula for writing your personal logline: 1st sentence: describe your profession and your passion. 2nd sentence: drop your relevant achievements and why you are interested in this role.
Example from video:
“I am a results-driven marketer with a passion for creating impactful campaigns. My experience includes launching successful brand initiatives and executing targeted digital Ad strategies.”
Here is how i answered this question for a medical sales role:
I am a healthcare clinician with over 20 years of experience, a successful pharmaceutical sales rep with 5 years of experience, and happen to be a happily married man of 15 years with 2 beautiful sons. The one thing that those traits and this role I am applying for have in common is active listening skills. As a clinician, I have to clearly understand what problems my patients are having so that i am able to conduct the proper diagnostic tests to accurately treat the problem. As a sales rep, I have to understand the physicians' and office managers' concerns to properly position my product to best solve their needs. And as a husband, it is extremely important for me to listen to my wife to keep her happy and to avoid sleeping on the couch.
I was told that that was one of the best "tell me about yourself" statements they have ever heard, and it addressed one of the most important roles of a medical sales rep, which is actively listening (one of that companies core competencies listed on their website)
I also wanted to show that I can be fun and have a sense of humor
“Why should we hire you?” counter, “Why did your last employee leave?” 🤔
Right!
It could be a new position.
A good question could be " Is this position open to fill a gap or for growth? "
Maybe someone left or simply they are expanding the team.

😂😂😂😅
Farah improves these videos day by day. Thank you!
Love the tip to not say anything after your response… give the interviewer time to digest everything you said. Nice video!
Thanks!
I've been struggling to get the response to this common question just right, but this formula will fix that. I have two phone screens / interviews on Friday 6/16, and I'll use this strategy. Thanks for these crystal-clear insights!
Your welcome! Sending you best wishes, good luck!!
How did it go?
Highly entertaining 😂 Relevant for current circumstances, I’ll be using these tips!
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it!!
This is such great content, I can’t understand how this hasn’t gone viral yet! Something must be wrong with our UA-cam logic
Thanks! Glad you are enjoying my content. I'll be posting more in the upcoming weeks. Life got in the way but more to come soon 😊
@@Farah_Sharghiyour ability to convey information is invaluable, thank you. Do I really need to make a LinkedIn account for pharmaceutical sales /liason positions? I really dont like using social media per se. Thanks for any advice
Awesome I made it !00!! just found you today.. love your information for career development ...
I am happy that i got myself into this channel. I am really learning alot from you. This alone is mind blowing. Thanks for the insights and the video as well :)
You’re so kind, thank you! Appreciate you letting me know! I’m glad you are finding my videos helpful 😍
You're so artistic :) and informative. Thanks.
I am skeptical about the last part of the response. I wonder if it may come across a bit rude or over confident.
Anyways they will remember you for that, and it matters a lot
This logline seems oversaturated with corpospeak 😐
Hi Farah and thank you for the amazing video.
I have a question: i am switching carreer from hospitality to to cyber security because i am just finishing my master.
Of course i have no relevant experience in the field. How should i talk about my past?
Just wanted to comment that you look like Katey Sagal :)
I kind of wish your scenarios would have been all stitched together at the end of the video. It went from hair salon to marketing. It's hard for me to understand how the structure of the flow is.
Okay I love these !!!
Really very useful tips, keep it up.
Glad you found it helpful!
Brilliant 🎉😊
Glad you liked it!
Hello my name is Brandon. I have an interview tomorrow and I was wondering if you ever help people prepare for the interview I've watched all your videos and been trying to use my experiences and relate them to the job posting but I'm completely anxious and spinning circles. Let me know if you help people I would greatly appreciate it
Does this format apply to technology domain? I expected you could have told us something unique for it.
The formula and the points made are spot-on, but the language sounds so canned and overly formal, as though you’re just reading your cover letter aloud. Doesn’t that run the risk of coming off as unnatural or insincere?
Thanks for the feedback & I see what you mean about the delivery. It’s tough when making videos for an audience that will resonate with as many people as possible with varied backgrounds. Yes it sounds canned because it’s an example. You have to add your own unique experience so that it sounds more like you. Formality depends on the company & job you’re applying to. Goldman Sachs has a very different culture than Google so adjust accordingly
00:30 is that a reasonable potion about her eyes to face !?
The problem with is that they may have a second question- why should we hire you. But you have given the answer I the first question
That’s your perspective… first off, it’s a terrible question but if you are asked they want to understand if you understand what value you bring based on your knowledge of the position so far
It s actually cool if you already replied to this question in your previous answer…
If it s what you expect to happen after then extend a bit on elements that you mentioned prior. 😊
The game of interview is to ensure the recruiter asks predictable questions and spend time on this ones.
Then your ability to ask good questions makes you really differentiate :)
Thank you @@Farah_Sharghi
Hah, will try this "Kick in the neck" trick next time! ))) Thanks!
