The pre-RDR2 theory I read was that the Strange Man takes different forms for different people to try and gain their trust I guess, and used Trelawny's appearance for John. Doesn't really work though, since John would surely remember Trelawny in 1911.
I always considered The Strange Man to be God. The response he gives to John's "damn you" (like"God damn you", or Goddammit" or any other variation), and by how he judges John's actions throughout the game, always subtly nudging John towards the righteous path, but ultimately letting him exercise his free will. That and The Strange Man is shown to be omnipotent in how he knows everything about John, something that's normally a trait associated with God/gods, and not normally with depictions of death.
@@TbYolo hermes in fact did deliver souls to the ferryman under his title as a psychopomp, of which the grim reaper is the most widely known, though every culture has a version of the psychopomp. Also hermes is the god of travellers, prostitutes, thieves and tricksters, the psychopomp aspect is part of the god of travellers, as he acted as a guide for all who were lost or travelling, souls included, which was the most important aspect as the dead were not meant to wander.

There is a door in St. Denis where you can hear Trelawny and his wife and multiple kids talking and stuff. Playing as Arthur he asks “Trelawny is that you?!” But is quickly turned away as he also tells his children to go up to their room. He never opens the door but apparently Trelawny is a family man with somewhat decent morals. Impossible for him to be the strange man

Trelawny is clearly intended to give off Strange Man vibes. They talk in story about him popping up unexpectedly in places, how he just knows things and of course his look, but he just simply is not the Strange Man. He's a strange man, in that he is odd, but not *the* Strange Man, the supernatural entity.
I always say he's a reaper, we have thousands of incarnations of those who "judge the dead" be it st. Peter, anubis or any of the other adjudicators, the strange man clearly speaks of your moral choices and says "oh they will" when John says he'll let the proper authorities judge his sins. Implying he is that authority. He's not God or the embodiment of death he's the scales, that will measure your heart against a feather. He would be privy to who will live or die the part that's tough for me is armadillo if he has a part in it the question is how? Now sure the literal writing on the walls says he offered a deal "happiness or two generations" we don't know the moral standpoint of pre-cholera armadillo but he offered us choices as well as a test.
I always thought the similarities between the two were purely coincidental or a joke. I always just assumed the strange man was death, what with him wearing all black, being impervious to bullets and knowing where John would be buried.
Trelawny and the strange man look identical so honestly , I mean compare him to a picture of the strange man they don't just look alike , every single facial feature, nose , chin right down to the exact mustache is the same. It could be to throw off red dead fans or personally I think Herbert Moon offered him to the strange man as a host body esp because he hated the English.
@@aprioriontoast704 No Trelawny and The Strange Man are completely different I think Rockstar just made them look similar for coincidence. The Strange Man seems like an entity or something that's supernatural and cannot be explained. Josiah Trelawny is just a Con Man who helps the Gang out and disappears sometimes and I think the Reason is because he has a Family in Saint Denis there's a Secret Random Encounter where Arthur can hear Josiah talking to his children at his Apartment in Saint Denis
I like how people think Trelawny is the Strange Man when there's literally a model for him that you can see in the mirror of the Strange Man's cabin when the painting is complete
@@girf4233 I dont know. The way Bill described it, the guy he met knew everything about him. Hes says "He knew everything about you, Morgan. I mean everything." So it could very well be him
@@jasoncrawford4185 arthur is a wanted man. Knowing everything about him is quite easy as from a wanted poster you could easily see how old he is what has he been apart of etc...
I feel like trelawny was a strange man scape goat not just because of the look, but also because he just appears whenever he wants and at the most random places, like the story of dutch being in some backwater store, goes to the outhouse and theres trelawny, talking about bad oysters. Nobody in the gang knew where he went, came from, or how he manages to know everybody wherever they go.
The Strange Man does appear IN RDR2. If you go to the store in Armadillo where the guy in the first game was alleged to have done some shady shit, which is also the only unaffected building by the disease, purchase clothes, and change your outfit in the changing room, in the mirror you will see the Strange Man standing behind John and observing him from the doorway. He has a unique model from Trelawney, and is clearly a different entity altogether.
You can literally see him when you go to a house and after sometimes you go to that house and check out the theories and the changes showing the strange man picture, when you look to the mirror of the house, strange man appears behind you but when you look at him he just dissapears.
Perhaps death chose the form of a Trelawney-esque character to seem familiar to John. Like a ghost of Christmas past. Perhaps indicating that Trelawney had died. Also John only knew Trelawney for a short time almost ten years prior. I probably wouldn't have recognized him either. Especially seeing all the trauma John had been through since then...
Another thing to add is, in chapter 6 there is a specific back alley in Saint Denis you can go down and in this alley is a door and you can hear trelawny talking to his family or a family comprising of a mother a son and a daughter, he says how he misses them all and gives them gifts in a showman kind of way and then tells the children to "play while mother and I read the paper's" what's interesting is Arthur upon trying to enter will say something along the lines of "trelawny? Is that you?" To which there's a lot of hushing thus ending the event. Don't know if it adds anything to the theory but its still cool to thing Trelawny is a family man.
TBH I think it's quite impressive they made a character design that is simultaneously super distinct, identifiable, eye-catching, and attention grabbing AND just... a guy and pretty "normal" and "mundane" looking for the time period and not at all out of the ordinary or weird or out of place, just looks like any other man of the time
One might say that, as we know, Trelawny was always back and forth all the time within extended periods of time and thus John might’ve not recognised him after over a decade. Not to mention Trelawny’s abrupt departure from the gang. John shooting ‘The Strange Man’ is the in definitive reason why he is not Trelawny. Unless he’s somehow acquired the power of gods.
Notice when he talks about Heidi, he says “the (ferry) you also got shot on”. Meaning he’d remember John from this because it was a near death experience. If he’s death, then john would have literally stared death in the face which is why he feels as though he looks familiar when he sees that portrait of him in the shop in RDR2. And it’s not just the once that he’s had a close shave.
@@Redknight74 he does say something along the lines of “oh I know you from all over”. Also this is RDR1 and not 2, and the event where he nearly gets eaten by wolves is at the start of RDR2.
I can see why the thought might occur to some people since Trelawny does look similar to TSM and he is said to be a "magician" so him knowing certain things wouldn't be such a shock but it was always the fact that John didn't recognise him that made me think differently and bc if Trelawny was TSM, I feel like he would've said something cryptic to Arthur during their short times together.
At first I thought the strange man could be the ghost of Trelawney, and that’s why the bullets go through him. Also, Trelawney never had any interactions with John in RDR2, and he doesn’t even live at the camp, which is why John may have had trouble recognizing him.
Compare pictures of Trelawny with the strange man , every single facial feature is the same the only difference is the sideburns. But they are clearly not the same person personality m voice and accents are different *but* could a demon be using trelawny as a host? Could Herbert Moon who hates the British have offered him as part of the deal he made? Another thing could be ............The creators of red dead are trying to wind us up x]
The ONLY thing that points away is that Trelawny has a family. It seems that The strange man is also the nun(they share a donkey, Strange mentions her, And she starts to reappear asking for cash) So he could take the form of Trelawny, not to mention the gang wonders how Trelawny appears in locations in the middle of nowhere. (But Trelawny has a family)
I saw a comment on something saying that the strange man took the form of trelawny because of some reason or another, and that he might only look like trelawny to John because John knew trelawny and forgot him. Or something like that.
People don't think that Trelawny is the Strange Man JUST BECAUSE they look similar, it's because of how mysterious Trelawny is and all of the little things we're told about him throughout the game.
@food wich stop fookin' lying beach. We all knew the blonde girl ( Sadie ) was bonnie but we were wrong. Only your shit ass friends believed it was Abigail you focker get the fock out of here you focking beach fock you and fock all idiots like you
I can see why people might think it though. Arthur mentions hims as if he has magical powers. He says how he just disappears yet always manages to find the gang somehow
I say the strange man is the grim reaper taking the form of a man similar to trelawny. Why? Idk maybe to symbolize how John’s past sins will catch up with him. Or something like that.
It always seemed to me that trelawny was a more mysterious character, who would always run into the gang at strange times. You learn more about this fishing with Dutch and Hosea. However the voice isn’t much of an indication as he would not be the first person to have a different voice than the first game. The biggest difference probably being Javier.
That never sat with me though, how do you 'damn' death? There's at least three meanings, Christian, damned to eternal hell or extremely unfortunate and ill fated. Then there's just to damn, strongly critisize so forth. Then there's the origin of the shortening to damn into middle english from latin/old French that means, loss and damage, inflicting loss on?
Probably that third one, when someone dies the people that cared for them would feel hurt and loss with the passing of a loved one, so damning death would make sense, with death inflicting the loss of a love one onto the living.
Yeah pretty sure death doesn’t have a family. You can hear Josiah talking to his 2 Little boys and his wife in a building in saint denis. Although you can not physically see them, this is confirmed to be Josiah from when Arthur will say “Trelawny?” He then will respond with “Arthur? What are you doing here?”
I in no way believe that he is the Strange man but as sort of a joke theory, Arthur can bring up "what if there's a hundred Trewlanys?" What if there's a hundred strange men but Trewlany is just one of them and some sort of outcast of the group who had a family and fell on with the gang?
I have a theory that’s somewhat related, John shoots The Strange Man 3 times. John says he won’t be responsible for his actions but the strange man replies “Oh but you will.” I think those 3 shots represented a death each, Uncle, John and Abigail.
Now I may be wrong but aren't the strange man missions optional, I haven't played the first rdr too much after rdr2, but if you don't do it, then how does that explain the deaths?
duh "and You have forgotten people more important than me" AKA Arthur Morgan..John forgot about Arthur and the Strange man commented on it in the first game
@@dhruvsbeloved tbh Arthur Morgan wasn't even in rockstar mind when RDR was released. Since strange man is a deity is it there a possibility that Josiah Trelawney is his alter ego? The gang mention multiple times that Trelawney always disappears without a trace and always comes back to help the gang whenever shit is about to go down like when he showed up at Valentine with Dutch to tell you about Sean. Strange man being a deity could imply that he could alter his voice and another thing I've noticed is that when you're scouting blackwater with Javier and Charles when Trelawney shows up and starts lower his voice he loses that distinctive accent he has. Replay that mission and see for yourself.
Second they gave up on easter eggs for a minute no reason y lost faith on red i guess make your search you gona find out hes involved in some killing that is very other world ish
Well it’s not just the appearance is the mannerisms and his line of how John has “forgotten many more important people then me” showing John had known him, but probably not trelawny
What if dutch's betrayal "broke" trelawny. Make him snap. And then he droped the pompus act for an intense, mysterious attitude.and thats why jack cant pin down who he is. He recognises his appearance, but the persona seems different.he then uses his network to keep tabs on john and gets john to do all the dirty work in his scams.
@@Angry_Peanut_52 no, but he bore wittness to both his metal decline, and his. Willingness to give up on everything he claimed to believe for self righteous greed. The blackwater massacre is just the catalyst of the gang falling apart but without dutch going nuts and turning his back on the gang and pursuing his irrational pipe dream of becoming a tahitian plantation owner in saint denis.
There's lots of evidence it's Trelawny. John recalls the stranger looking like Trelawny off the photo in armadillo. Trelawny has children and the strange man tells John he has children as well. I agree with you and think it's not him but that they have some sort of connection. So there is an argument to be made even though I think it's false.
Though the Strange Man only mentions one son whereas Trelawny had two. It would be odd for him to only think of one. As for the claim of the picture, it acts as both a reference to RDR 1 and also comments on the strangeness of the Strange man. That John feels he knows him from the picture but he doesn't. Like a sense of Deja Vu but you know you have never been through the experience before. Only to forget later on due to how life goes. More evidence that disproves them being the same beyond their voice is their manner and how they carry themselves: -Trelawnys entire manner is vastly different from The Strange Man. Trelawny is very extravagant and a performer with his magic tricks but is always engaged in the world and is human as seen with his last encounter with Arthur. Hes very scared yet tries to hold his performer facade. -The Strange Man however seems very disconnected from the world. Like hes not really there and Carries on whether John agrees or not. Hes simply an observer and has no care that John is a killer and could shoot him at any moment. Which John does but the Strange Man doesnt even turn around or care.
Idk man. There’s several pieces of dialogue in the game that paint Trelawny as mysterious. I remember one moment where Arthur talks about him with Hosea I think and they keep talking about his strange ability to be somewhere and then to be gone the next.
He looks familiar to John doesn't he? He knows everything about the gang. He seems to be everywhere at once. Have a think about it. I can put on a high pitched voice too. He doesn't recognize because of aging and years without seeing him
I mean as devils advocate it would make sense as Trelawny would know who John is, might have found out about the girl in blackwater and could very well have just known of the events that the strange man tells John. they also look very similar so it would seem obvious at first glance
Well Trelawny can't be TSM since TSM can just not be harmed well Trelawny was really beaten by those super bounty hunters. Regardless, let's say Trelawny is TSM, him knowing where john would be buried, could be Trelawny after learning of John's death, found Abigail and remind her of the past there shared, and recommended the grave spot since it's a beautiful place, and Abigail agreed.
My theory was that The Strange Man was Jack Marston, time-travelling from the future, or perhaps just projecting himself from the future. This would explain why John thinks he recognizes him, and would explain why he takes such an interest in John and the Van Der Linde Gang's complicated morality. If he is just a projection, it would explain why John can shoot through him in their last encounter, and why he is able to disappear. The appearance of a time traveler in RDR2 only cemented my belief that Jack Marston is The Strange Man, and the time traveler is perhaps hunting him. I've read that if you take a photo of The Strange Man in the mirror in the cabin in the swamp, The Rock Star Social Club will identify him as "serial killer". We know that Jack becomes as deadly a killer as John at the end of RDR, and he is living at a time where being a killer is increasingly difficult to get away with, so fleeing into the past would allow him to get away with his crimes more easily. There are a number of strange, unsolved murders and ritual killings scattered around the landscape of RDR2. These could be Jack's victims.
I think rockstar made the strange man to be a human embodiment of God or a representation of him. He eerily knows peoples locations at any given time, he tells John where certain people will be even though he has no connections with them. Lastly when the strange man is looking over John’s house, John loses his temper and says “Damn you!”. The strange man proceeds to reply “Many people have John.”. This is interesting because people often use the expression “Goddamn” or damn God himself when they are angry. Also the fact that John shoots the man but it has absolutely no effect on him.
People say that the main factor between them is one has an English accent and one has an American accent, but we never get proper proof of trelawny being English (I think) he could presumably change accents, hence strange man.
ngl this didn't really disprove the theory. Let me elaborate: Trelawney had a wife and kids during the events of RDR2, and was never really a big part of the gang. More of an associate with intel or something along those lines. At the same time though, Trelawney was also known to be something of a performer/good at magic tricks. I think people suspect Trelawney to be this strange man on the basis that none of John's bullets hit him during the RDR1 encounter. Only someone who's good at magic tricks could have pulled off such a trick (or a ghost, as some suspect). Another thing I'd like to add is that Trelawney actually asked Arthur about the death of Heidi McCort in the early parts of RDR2. Like, the situation was none of his business and asks about her name explicitly because it was "the talk of the town". Strangely enough, the strange man will also acknowledge the name of Jimmy Brooks in RDR2 depending on if you spared him or not. Only someone from the gang could have known something as explicit as that. With those two contextual clues, I can see why some might suspect Trelawney to be the Strange Man. Plus, John Marston's ranch was no secret by the time RDR1 happened. Everyone knew where to find 'em. But at the same time, it definitely doesn't explain the two generation curse thing with Armadillo. Heck, Trelawney doesn't even look or sound Jewish as the Strange Man's described in the Moon letter. Besides, the guy only pulled simple magic tricks, never was shown to have the power to begin an chlorea endemic. But then again, what would I know? I just personally think the whole "devil" theory works in this whole Strange Man situation. Kinda wish this video spent more time talking about The Strange Man's Armadillo schemes, and how the Moon guy deified him akin to a god. That alone would shut down the possibility of Trelawney being the Strange Man. The clues are there to signify that The Strange Man is more than just a guy with an act.
Me and my bf just recently played through RDR2 together and we both thought that Strange Man was Trelawny until we read up on the evidence against it. I however, still like to imagine that Trelawny is Strange Man simply because we had so much fun trying to figure out how it was all connected and how the theories we came up with and believed was so much fun to explore lol!
Not only because of the Top Hat and Moustache Its the fact that the gave sliglthy hints toward he being supernatural and no one knows anything about him and he just dissapears Also he does magic and one of the characters says hes the bloody devil, and Hes a kind devil I think the voice change was just rockstar trying to make it not so obvious
Also the SM has a house in the bayou but Trelawny has a house and family in Saint Denis. And a family is something an omnipotent entity like SM wouldn't have time for.
Maybe I consider Trelawny as The Strange Man because of three reasons: 1- He is a Magician (Arthur, Dutch and Hosea thought he's Magician) 2- he never met John Marston in Rdr2, I guess. 3- he "easily" spotted Sean when he was captured by bounty hunters in Blackwater, also he kept travelling everywhere in Rdr2. He might have changed his voice tune and his accent just to have some magical fun with an old member of the gang, or maybe he was afraid to reveal himself to John as he was an ex member of the old gang, just like Javier and Bill, I don't know I'm confused tbh but hit me with some conclusions if I'm wrong
When the strange man mentioned about John getting shot on the ferry boat and said "why would you remember me?" And "You've forgotten far more important people than me". I believe that since many people and including an npc say that the strange man is the grim reaper of death or the devil,Perhaps the strange man was there during the raid on the ferry boat to take Heidi to the afterlife.
"Why would you remember me, friend? You've forgotten far more important people than me." It's likely John forgot about him since he doesn't appear in camp much, especially since John left the gang for a while so they only have a short time to know each other Plus, accents can dissapear after years living in America. I'm not saying he is, but i can see why people would think they're the same
What if there was a gang of strange men, Josiah, strange man, and many others. All secretive and talks in riddles, never there but always there ? Just a theory
I think the fact that John doesn't recgonize the Stange Man as Trelawny throws this theory right out, you'd think someone he was in pretty consistent contact for several years would stand out more.
I personally think death took the appearance of treylawny and that’s why John always thinks he knows him from somewhere but since he doesn’t have the same accent John can’t put his finger on it
If the strange man is death it would make sense that john has seen him before. He would’ve seen him when he was in the mountains after being shot and attacked by wolfs and probably had an encounter with him before charles and author found him.
During the entirety of RDR2 Trelawney and John were never seen together. Whenever John was in camp Trelawney was gone, when Trelawney was in camp John was gone. Trelawney knows everything about Dutch's gang, so does the Strange Man, and (this part is a little nit picky) but it's real easy to change the pitch of your voice, especially when it's a decade later, ESPECIALLY done by a vocal grifter like Trelawney. And just a last bit I remembered everyone who personally knew Trelawney (aside from maybe Charles since he went off to Canada and Arthur cause he died of Tuberculosis) was killed by John.
Late to the party but thought I should point out that the Strange Man vaguely matches eye witness description of serial killer, Jack The Ripper. He’s been described as “evil incarnated” and nobody knows who he was

I do remember a video where he said the picture of the strange man at the general store in Armadillo was of trelawny
MrBossFTW's an idiot
Yeah, is no one gonna talk about how stupid that dude is
@@Atriox2004 because we have the right to express our opinions
Corrections, he always was a strange man but he’s not THE strange man boah.
Hahahaha.... how do you feel about him visiting your dear ol pal john?
Oh wait.... YOOOUUU DIIED!
Saves you the annoyance of him visiting you though.
Arthur ya gotta keep faith just have faith sooooooon
Would we even have enough money to go to Tahiti
Trelawny is clearly intended to give off Strange Man vibes. They talk in story about him popping up unexpectedly in places, how he just knows things and of course his look, but he just simply is not the Strange Man. He's a strange man, in that he is odd, but not *the* Strange Man, the supernatural entity.
This is pretty easy to explain, the stange man is most likely death and he knows john because john had near death experiences.
I like this
Also, John has seen death throughout his time in the Van Der Linde gang because of how much people they kill.
@@bartoszsyrocki8660 also John has been close to dying several times in the Past
He's also killed a shitton of people
I always say he's a reaper, we have thousands of incarnations of those who "judge the dead" be it st.
Only an O'Driscoll would make such an uneducated comparison
I like how people think Trelawny is the Strange Man when there's literally a model for him that you can see in the mirror of the Strange Man's cabin when the painting is complete
Theres even a camp encounter where Bill comes up to Arthur saying he met the strange man. Not Trelawney
@@S4YT3N No, but it occurs when at Shady Belle
doubt that would be THE strange man.
@@girf4233 Well, Bill makes it seem like this guys knows things nobody else knows. Plus it's in the swamp, where the strange mans cabin is at
I feel like trelawny was a strange man scape goat not just because of the look, but also because he just appears whenever he wants and at the most random places, like the story of dutch being in some backwater store, goes to the outhouse and theres trelawny, talking about bad oysters.
He's rockstar's 'machination of ambiguity', that is all.
YES! I’ve always thought it was one of the dumbest theories out there
Another thing to add is, in chapter 6 there is a specific back alley in Saint Denis you can go down and in this alley is a door and you can hear trelawny talking to his family or a family comprising of a mother a son and a daughter, he says how he misses them all and gives them gifts in a showman kind of way and then tells the children to "play while mother and I read the paper's" what's interesting is Arthur upon trying to enter will say something along the lines of "trelawny? Is that you?" To which there's a lot of hushing thus ending the event. Don't know if it adds anything to the theory but its still cool to thing Trelawny is a family man.
Fitzhy ends the reign of MrBossFTW finally
Lorna Topping finally someone else who noticed this 😂
Can u summarize it😢
If that was the case he would had remembered him when he John almost got eaten by the wolfs
He stays at the camp after we rescue him from the bounty hunters in Rhodes. While there he probably interacted with John too.
Wears a top hat.
*Assumes Trelawny is The Strange Man*
Compare pictures of Trelawny with the strange man , every single facial feature is the same the only difference is the sideburns. But they are clearly not the same person personality m voice and accents are different *but* could a demon be using trelawny as a host? Could Herbert Moon who hates the British have offered him as part of the deal he made?
Another thing could be ............The creators of red dead are trying to wind us up x]
@@aprioriontoast704 You're fcking stupid
a priori on toast idiot
The ONLY thing that points away is that Trelawny has a family.
It seems that The strange man is also the nun(they share a donkey, Strange mentions her, And she starts to reappear asking for cash)
So he could take the form of Trelawny, not to mention the gang wonders how Trelawny appears in locations in the middle of nowhere.
(But Trelawny has a family)
I saw a comment on something saying that the strange man took the form of trelawny because of some reason or another, and that he might only look like trelawny to John because John knew trelawny and forgot him. Or something like that.
Trelawny and John Marston never met in Red Dead Redemption 2
Even if we never interact with each other, we can still assume they have met as John has been running the gang for like 10+ years.
People don't think that Trelawny is the Strange Man JUST BECAUSE they look similar, it's because of how mysterious Trelawny is and all of the little things we're told about him throughout the game.
I thought the mission you were playing the guys name was professor shitface
Shiftacre I think it is, but in the French accent I too heard shitface
Theory: If the strange man is a demon, it could of taken a similar form of tralawny and that is why John says ‘Do I know you from somewhere?’
Trelawny is actually my favorite rdr character by far, what a disgrace comparing him with the almighty death
I guess you go to the Saint Denis tailors to get suits
Me too
In my last playthrough, John & Trelawny were in camp at the same time & had a brief interaction. Both tellin each other goodmorning
Thank you for clearing it up, Jack Swift didn’t die in the mansion, he IS the stranger man.

Red Dead Redemption remaster:
Strange Man "Hello John, John Marston"
John "Trelawny??"
Strange Man 😶😶😶
Last I checked, trelawney wasn’t bulletproof. The end
Me a strange man?? Nonsense dear boy!
I think a reason is that because trelawny always appears and disappears but it doesn’t hold much weight
I found trewlawny speaking to his family in saint denis
It always seemed to me that trelawny was a more mysterious character, who would always run into the gang at strange times. You learn more about this fishing with Dutch and Hosea. However the voice isn’t much of an indication as he would not be the first person to have a different voice than the first game. The biggest difference probably being Javier.
During Trelawny's missions they keep referring to him as "strange"
Lol he says he's from Jupiter, his matches literally says "Red Devil's matches" but no, he's not the Strange man at all.
Also if you watch the magic tricks he dose for Karen and Mary Beth, well they look rather real lol. He literally spawns a live bird from thin air
Saying Trelawny is the strange man is like saying Franklin is CJ
No, there’s actual theories about it, since he already mentioned Heide Mccourt and theres another stuff too, just check out the theories
The strange man is jack swift from red dead revolver
Lol
Lol I was thinking that myself ffs 🤣
That's even worse lol
I personally think he is the Saint Denis gunsmith.
The Saint Denis gunsmith is Chinese
Likckle Pikle Science why Chinese
@@camerontoy8154 You can tell by the accent he has. Plus Saint Denis has a lot of Chinese immigrants especially with Chinatown
charles on trelawny " i don't know him well enough but he is a strange one "
I just realized John also wore a satchel in RDR lol
Trelawny: thank you my boy
Guys I figured it out
Trelawny is Gavin
Uhhok 3 he disappeared on Nigel
Yeah pretty sure death doesn’t have a family.
You can hear Josiah talking to his 2
Little boys and his wife in a building in saint denis. Although you can not physically see them, this is confirmed to be Josiah from when Arthur will say “Trelawny?” He then will respond with “Arthur? What are you doing here?”
If the strange man is josiah john will reconize him.
Huh
Now I may be wrong but aren't the strange man missions optional, I haven't played the first rdr too much after rdr2, but if you don't do it, then how does that explain the deaths?
duh "and You have forgotten people more important than me" AKA Arthur Morgan..John forgot about Arthur and the Strange man commented on it in the first game
No shit
I could NEVER understand how people can connect in their heads that they are the same
He's the devil from the crossroads making deals with the live for souls its very simple. Don't know how ppl dont got it yet
Well he can materialise behind you like a ghost
Second they gave up on easter eggs for a minute no reason y lost faith on red i guess make your search you gona find out hes involved in some killing that is very other world ish
And it was hilarious when john shot strange man and john was just like " DAMN YOU!
The strange man used a similar appearance to remind John of his past. ?
Thomas Shaughnessy but he’s also in rdr2 with the same clothes
Thomas Shaughnessy The guy you can meet at a campfire in New Austin tells you that everyone sees the strange man the same (Black suit, top hat)
Well it’s not just the appearance is the mannerisms and his line of how John has “forgotten many more important people then me” showing John had known him, but probably not trelawny
The strange man is Evelyn Miller.
Trelawny wasnt present at the Blackwater Ferry job he couldn't know who the girl dutch burtaly shot
More evidence that disproves them being the same beyond their voice is their manner and how they carry themselves:
-Trelawnys entire manner is vastly different from The Strange Man.
Upload more rdr2 😍😍
Your wrong
Flopsy T. Hamster yo u on to sum
I read this in the nerdiest, lispy-est voice
With that logic the guy near strawberry in rdr2 could be the strange man
Everyone is gravely missing the point that the Trelawny character could just be an act
Let me elaborate:
Trelawney had a wife and kids during the events of RDR2, and was never really a big part of the gang.
Not only because of the Top Hat and Moustache
Its the fact that the gave sliglthy hints toward he being supernatural and no one knows anything about him and he just dissapears
Also he does magic and one of the characters says hes the bloody devil, and Hes a kind devil
I think the voice change was just rockstar trying to make it not so obvious
He is not the strange man but Trelawny sure is a strange man.
Alex the Hun this seems familiar 🤨
i really love these mystery videos
Also the SM has a house in the bayou but Trelawny has a house and family in Saint Denis. And a family is something an omnipotent entity like SM wouldn't have time for.
Great job I love these type of videos
Maybe I consider Trelawny as The Strange Man because of three reasons:
1- He is a Magician (Arthur, Dutch and Hosea thought he's Magician)
2- he never met John Marston in Rdr2, I guess.
3- he "easily" spotted Sean when he was captured by bounty hunters in Blackwater, also he kept travelling everywhere in Rdr2.
He might have changed his voice tune and his accent just to have some magical fun with an old member of the gang, or maybe he was afraid to reveal himself to John as he was an ex member of the old gang, just like Javier and Bill, I don't know
I'm confused tbh but hit me with some conclusions if I'm wrong
Arthur puts on a suit and top hat.
People: He’s the Strange Man.
If you antagonize trwealany arthur will say you are a strange man josiah
"Why would you remember me, friend? You've forgotten far more important people than me."
It's likely John forgot about him since he doesn't appear in camp much, especially since John left the gang for a while so they only have a short time to know each other
Plus, accents can dissapear after years living in America.
