    They are much cheaper than the damage I saw when my brother tried to make spring's the same way. The advancer exploded throwing pieces of it and the head all over our garage. Very lucky neither of us was hurt.

    hi! do you know if its ok that the magnet has a little front-back play? its not actually the magnet but the crankshaft bearing, or the crankshaft itself, im not really sure, if its a problem, could this be solved without unmounting the engine? like tightening some bolt from the other side maybe? thanks!

    • @blastworks
      @blastworks  Рік тому

      Unfortunately I don't believe this is something you can fix unless you take the top end of the motor apart and give it a proper inspection. There really isn't a lot to it, and it will extend the life of your motor if there is something major wrong inside.

    I’m just trying to get my motor to run but I need to reset the timing chain. Can I just pull the clutch off or do I have to take the bolts off? I don’t really see how they’re holding it in place.

    • @blastworks
      @blastworks  4 роки тому +1

      You shouldn't have to pull your clutch to adjust timing. The timing chain and all that is on the other side of the motor. You could just pull the cam chain sprocket cover on the head and adjust there; take the sprocket off the cam, let it down loose enough to turn the chain without turning the sprocket. You could do something similar down bottom but you'd have to pull the flywheel.

    hello, i have such a problem, i have a Honda xl 125 RPD 1986 and years ago I changed the piston with the cylinder on it but it didn't start because for some reason it didn't throw a spark but now it works again because it was done a bit and I don't know how to do the wiring. I have the letters I, F, T on the handle and I have no absolute idea of how it should be, because it is possible that the cam is the other way around

    • @blastworks
      @blastworks  2 роки тому

      I don't think it is possible to install the cam the other way around as you would not be able to install the timing chain gear on the cam.

    What exactly touches the tip of the neutral safety switch that grounds it out? I'm not getting the light on, but the switch does work. I'm thinking I have something not right inside

      If I recall correctly, it should contact the end of the shifter drum. I never really did anything with the one on my bike, but if you look at this video by Shane Conley, it should help out some!

      Here's a link to the transmission in the bike, it shows the shift drum as well so you can see where it contacts in the transmission:

      I figured it out over the weekend, that copper ring is what makes the contact. There is a tab bent down that sits in a hole so it turns with the shift drum. My tab was flattened out and not in the hole so the ring wasn't turning lol my bad. On another note, thanks alot for these videos, they got me through alot of shit on my 1986 185 xl

    Is it okay to set the valve clearance to the same values? I tought that there’s always a bigger clearance on the exhaust valve. The only data i could find for my 1985 xl 125r is 0.05mm (0.002 in) for each valves and i didn’t set them yet because i was scared if it will be a too little clearance on the exhaust valve and it screws everything up.

    • @blastworks
      @blastworks  4 роки тому

      Those are the factory settings! You can see it in one of the early videos in this series when I'm holding the book up. It's 2 thou (0.05mm) for both valves! Set it and forget it! You'll be good!
