First-ever flash flood emergency hits New York City as Ida barrels through

- For the first time, a flash flood emergency was issued in New York City as remnants of Hurricane Ida raced up the East Coast late Wednesday. The band of severe weather also caused the FAA to issue a "ground stop" at all three New York City-area airports. CBS New York has complete team coverage.

Praying...🙏🙏🙏🙏♥️♥️♥️♥️
No worries. Water comes, washes dirt away!
Flood rates went to 0% after Mrna Frederick prayed
They say don't travel but ppl have to work to survive...praying for everyone🙏
If you're not going to make it there because of the risk of Drowning. Work isn't always worth risking your life
Do people get, 'hyped weather report' fatigue? Do they not believe its going to get bad and stay home when authorities tell them to stay home? I don't live in the US anymore, but when the police here (In Norway) issue warnings to not travel, I don't, and no one expects every retail store or service to open that day. We've had cyclone systems here where the buses had to stop running due to wind speeds. That's pretty much when everyone hunkers down in place. The majority of our powerlines are buried as well, so I've never had a power outage more than 3 hours. I'm just having a hard time imagining what its like there now.
Be careful car buyers. More damaged cars dealer will be trying to sale
U know it! Buyers Beware. APTTMHCOY ALONE

Hey that’s supposed to be happening in Oregon! We want our rain back!

And you don't know what you're about to drive into within that water.
Imagine what the people went thru in La. It pounded them for 12 hours.
The wind was insane
Crazy it's still trashing everything in it's path!
And it shows. Utter disaster.
Well we have levee systems in place to help with the flooding. The wind was the real problem in this case. Knocked out an electrical tower that powered the entirety of New Orleans. Not even Katrina did that, in fact the same tower was UNFAZED.
This storm would have been Katrina 2 without the levee upgrades in place. Sadly, people up there aren’t really experienced with this or preparing for it. And that makes it even more dangerous.
From New Orleans, all of you in the tri-state area are in my prayers.
Damn hurricane ida started on the gulf coast then went northwest to LA then all the way back east until it hit nyc??
Please be as safe as you can
it takes less than 6 inches of water on the road to lift your car up off the pavement and stall it out - and you are then at the mercy of the water - DON'T DRIVE THRU THE WATER!! outside if water reaches electric wires/power lines or in your home if the water reaches your electrical outlets DO NOT STEP INTO THE WATER unless you want to risk getting electrocuted!!
I drove thru 3 feet today..probably wasn’t the best idea
We use to have big tiers now their paper treads, which makes you lower to the ground.
Meanwhile in Las Vegas we're running out of water and Lake Tahoe is getting charred.

We all need to get used to it and be prepared. This will be the new normal. Bought a house on the Hudson in 1998, the house was built in 1894. I didn’t need flood insurance as it was located on a 500 year flood plain. Over the next 17 years the house was flooded(over 8 feet of water in the basement, ruined HVAC unit, property underwater, etc) 4 times, the last being Sandy where the damage was over $160K(got less than $10K from flood insurance(had to buy it in 2003 as I was now in a 50 year flood zone)and was offered a loan from the government). It would be so amazing if we in the West I personally live in Utah but probably not a lot of New Yorkers have been to Lake Tahoe but it is a beautiful Resort with 53000 people evacuated and the fires and the hotspots I'm so close to the resort they're not sure if she'll be able to save it because of the high winds. We have never had a drought this bad in our history all of our lakes and reservoirs are almost empty which makes for a really bad tap water. Over 200,000 Acres from fire and it is only 18% contained. And a helicopter just in the last hour picked up a firefighter that show quickly got in the fire he was burned all over his body. I live in Boston and New York for several years and feel like an easterner at heart so I hope all of you are okay please be very careful if you could get some of that flood water to the West we would be very happy most of you have probably never heard of the Great Salt Lake in Salt Lake City Utah but it is where most of the nation gets their salt from it is extremely salty and even when the reservoirs are empty it stays pretty full and it is lower than it's ever been so just no a lot of your salt is coming from there. Prayers for all of you
I came up with a few years back part of a solution. Build a canal river in the high rockies where the water comes from on the east side to channel it around using natural gradienst to the west side and then in to the Colorado. It would help to fill Lake mead and other high dams. Part of the dam problems during the decade long drought is not enough water to fill. So none to spare. Even though there is enough to float a navel the amount is still less than full. So additional water would help to fill those lakes. It seems to make sense that those dwellers of the Mississippi valley with water up to their kness, waists or necks and no where but the sea to put it in are not going to complain if a high mountain river is deverted with control gates so if ever the mile wide Mississippi runs dry the water can be turned back on again.
