- 05/14/17 NYAR RS-20 approaches from afar along the Bushwick Branch at 11:13 am. Motive power is two Progress Rail PR20B's, 301 and 300(with a couple of conductors up front, one an infamous railfan). They pull a short mixed consist just short of the crossing. While one conductor directs traffic, the other(Gregorygrice) opens the gate. Then the train proceeds into the yard with some sweet horn. Great job!
MTA XD40 bus struggles to make it over the rails at the end. Crossing bell's stayed active while the engines performed switch moves(in next video)Enjoy.
Don't forget to visit Gregorygrice's channel and show the guy some love. He always find all the rare stuff and tells me sometimes lol.
2:28 Heads up,coming thru,excuse me,excuse me,thaaank yoouu,and have a great day!😁
Lol, thanks for watching!
Great video footage
Nice to see freight in big city ty
Nice catch Monica love these rail shots .
Thank you!
Pretty much every time I see one of the PR20Bs, it’s always paired with the other one.
I saw RS40 at Jamaica with 1 GP38 and 1 PR20B.
🎶I've been working on the railroad all the live-long day!🎶
Lol
Sweet daylight catch. If you live in the area you can catch the mps switch on rust street across from the goodfellas diner from like 7pm to around 10 and then the garbage train headed back to fresh pond yard around 11
Sweet! I don't live nearby but I do want to catch something else running on this line
Yes by the restaurant depot I see freight trains like 11 at night , it's dark and empty the parking lot. Just giving a heads up.
Real nice close up shot. Excellent video Monica. Good steady hands.
+iusetano Thanks iusetano! I was trying really hard to keep it still. Since I was so excited lol
Wow a beautiful train!! This was a great video Monica!! I really enjoyed it! Thanks so much for sharing your awesome videos!! :) :)
+Video Photography Thanks so much Necie! I was so excited to finally see a train come down this way.
Pleasant change , thank You Monica !
From swoosh to snail !
+Danny Gayler Glad you like it 😁
+Danny Gayler yup lol

+Balerio 2357 Thanks, this was my rarest catch this year lol
awesome catch. very cool.
+Phillip Lee Thanks Phillip!
Excellent catch Monica! Thanks loads!!
+Porschedude8 Thanks for watching Porschedude8!
Nice catch
Thanks!
Clean emissions don't pull as much as some people want. This video is case in point 2 medium engines needed to haul only 6 cars in the consist.Yupper!
I heard from an ex co worker on New York cross harbor railroad that they need 2 of those new locomotives to drill carfloats because one of them don’t have the power pathetic!
@@ernestpassaro9663 They only need to push the cars on then off with a tiny amount of yard work
@@danbytp yes but these new locomotives have 1050 hp each and you need 2 of them we had emd nw2s and alco s4s with 1000 hp each and it only took one of them
@@danbytp basically a person with decent strength can push a boxcar on level track I have done it
@@ernestpassaro9663 LIRR had a few MP15ACs,RS3s,C426s,C428s and some RS11s,S-12s and a few others I might have forgotten a few. These engines were more than adequate for LIRR and quite a few other Roads. But,since traffic has dropped, the engines' power ratings have too.
Guessing they aren’t diesels
The EMD 20B's are diesels, but modernized.
how about that school bus??? didn't stop
I don't think it had any children aboard.
@@monica012077 by law it doesn’t matter they must stop regardless
@@ernestpassaro9663 The conductor waved it through signaling it was safe.
The conductor waved it through, it was fine.
I used to do patrol in that area about 11 yrs ago doing 4x12's. Late one night a MP15ac stopped and we got on, and was given the "seat" for a few minutes to control locomotive. Is there a schedule for when locos go in and out of yard? Super video btw....👍👍
pdglock19 Thanks for sharing that!
pdglock19 All I know is two trains run it at the moment, don’t know the schedule for light engine moves or trains.
very nice monica picture perfect excellent video ☺
+Jeremy Naraine Thanks Jeremy! Glad out like it 😀
Wow!Something different! What are these locomotives powered by?! There very quiet!
+Thomas Bell Not sure, they're diesels made by Progress Rail. PR20B's are clean emissions locomotives.
They have Caterpillar 3512C-HD
+Lino F. Thanks!
@@linof.6494 I’m shocked caterpillar engines usually pull very well
Anyone know what kind of horn they use?
Engrs clip there toe nails and eat the clips when waiting for the CNDR to get a switch
Wow , Love the color schemes ( I have a passion for green ) , looks almost like Lister Green ?
+Danny Gayler Thanks for watching Danny!
How I have missed Your great work , I sincerely hope You'll stay !
Clean emission engines and sparkling clean bodies...SWEEEET!!!
Thanks for watching!
I heard they don’t pull well at all !
@@ernestpassaro9663 So I hear too.NYA was the freight part of the Long Island Railroad. They were not pulling enough loads to justify the cost since passenger service was the main emphasis of the LIRR.So they sold the freight service a few years ago to a company that specializes in this type of operations. The main power units were getting real old and inefficient.NYA was able to use all it's income for upgrades hence these new units. The trains aren't very long,25-30 cars long at most,15 on average. So the need for the power of something like BNSF's units isn't necessary and too expensive for NYA.Being run in NYC an suburban Long Island Clean Energy units makes sense in such a high population density area.
@@danbytp it’s very hard if not impossible to make money on short hauls and short trains so I feel for New York and Atlantic also customer base is way down from the 70s when I was a kid back then maspeth and Long Island city were really busy with raifreight
@@danbytp every engineer I have spoken to because as an ex railroader I keep in touch with my ex co workers told me those eco friendly locomotives suck they just don’t pull good at all
Those PR20Bs are starting to grow on me...
They're pretty cool.
there is no such yard
It's a yard on Morgan Ave.
Basically it’s a small storage facility
