Yeah but If you remember, in episode one, after Thor's leaves the battle, the Vikings/danes actually lost that battle as confirmed by Thorkell when he tells thorfinn about the battle towards the end of season one.
Also in season one, askeladd remembers that at the battle of Maldon, Thorkell was wounded and knocked down. The Danes also lost that battle.
Which says to me, there is some badass warriors outside of the Danes, we have yet to see in the story.
Thor's might have had an equal out there or at least a close rival in strength and I think it's going to be insane.

I'd like to point out that Askeladd said numerous times that Thorfinn could have killed him when he was 17. Only thing that held him back was specifically against Askeladd he was off his game
Don't remember his saying that. He only said after their last duel that Thorfinn does poorly against him because of bloodthirst or smth like that. Where did he say Thorfinn could kill him?

If not for his rage, it would be a closer fight because Askeladd's old, but I think Thorfinn naivety at that age would result to Askeladd outsmarting him yet again.
@@yyuyu1506 this. I don't think Thorfinn could beat askeladd, he didn't have enough experience at the moment, Askeladd still was a beast, being able to fight dozens simultaneously. It's sad we didn't see him in his prime fighting anyone besides overpowered Thors.

@@rikumajumder1558 at least, we, "fanboys" remember what thorkell himself said about this reasoning. It's more complicated than that and you can't judge who wins this way. Literally his words before Askeladds final duel with Thorfinn.
And yes, Thorfinn didn't beat Thorkell in a fair fight, and never could. Thorkell could have easily killed him many many times in their encounters, but didn't want to. First duel he beat his ass unarmed. Second duel, he was playing with him, and easily skyrocketed him into the air and broke his arm when finally got bored. Then gave him time to recover from that. Thorfinn won by cheating with the help of Askeladd. Even with all these playing around, Thorfinn didn't stand a chance without the help from the side.
Thorkell was simply the strongest warrior after Thors retired. Askeladd was way worse as a warrior than Thorkell, not even close, pirate leader vs the morst renowned warrior in the world. And Thorfinn was way weaker even than Askeladd lol, he was a freakin 17 year old boy, no matter how gifted. You probs should rewatch anime and apply some common sense to your words before commenting

I think old Askeladd getting underrated. He took on King Sweyn’s elite guard and held his own 1v9, and even making a nice pile of bodies while he was at it. Literally the only two who are definitively stronger are Thorkell and Thors, the obvious top 2. Thorfinn is arguable.
Teenage thorfinn is arguable but adult thorfinn surpasses askeladd.

@@isaacmendes1926 nope. There is no rule saying that the mentee can't surpass the mentor. Askeladd isn't as strong as you make him out to be. Yes, he is easily in the top five but that's mainly because of his intellect. Thorfinn as a teenager was always faster than askeladd and he always lost due to His emotions. As an adult, thorfinn had a huge boost in strength and he was skilled enough to fold multiple jomsvikings with bare hands and making sure that nobody died. And no character in the entire series was able to accomplish that, other than thors.
Reminder that Thorkell thinks these kinds of lists are dumb and pointless.
I think he is ok with power scaling till he isn't placed weaker than someone he hasn't already been defeated by (i.e Thors, Thorfinn)
Weirdly I think Askeladd is at his most dangerous when he's in a cold rage (Not unthinking anger, but focused anger)
Yeah I agree with most of this, Id definitely say that Thorfinn at 22 onward is FUCKING STRONG I think lots of people underestimate how powerful he is post development after the farmland arc since at this point he knows himself, he fights with a calm mind much like Askeladd and Thors did not letting anger control them, and he also has all the experience, lessons and drive that most warriors don't have.
Just to put it into perspective when Thorfinn fought Garm who is considered one of the strongest in VS, Thorfinn outmatched him by staying calm like Askeladd did when Thorfinn Dueled him years back, sure Garm has talent but Thorfinn really didn't break a sweat and was fighting Garm barehanded.

Hild should have been 4th place in my book. She's an absolute monster, smarter than almost anyone, resourceful, incredibly skilled and the way she fights is a nightmare to counter. I could live with Thorfinn, Thorkell, Thors being above her. Not Garm. Not even Askeladd. If you had to send someone to kill anyone in your list, Thors included, i would choose Hild everytime. She would be the one most likely to succeed.
I mean thorfin can be stronger than even thor I believe but don't hung up on who the strongest cuz this animanga is about the journey same as One Piece it about the journey

Tho HILD is my favorite character, it’s arguable what rank she actually would be between the Bunch.
Cause It’s hard to rank a Sharpshooter/specialized character with mostly just Close combat characters..
Hild definitely is very skilled and experienced.
She’s has a very good aim and draw reflexes, and her greatest feats are her Invention skills (not directly for combat usually) and is definitely at her peak when she is hidden in a usually Natural Environment.
She can be very unpredictable and has full control over her environment.
And is usually cool under pressur.
Of course tho, specialization can be limiting, we have never seen her in close up combat, wich I honestly doubt is that skilled as the others.
Cause we know she was physically weak to draw a Bow.
Cause again, she is more specialized at other things.
So, for my Ranking, she is easily in her top 10 if she is in her Peak (in her element)
Not even Wise thorfinn could dodge her.
She can be deadly if she wants to be.
But hey, power ranking can be odd sometimes, depending on what your aiming for
Arguably, Hild and Askeladd are the only two people that could ever bring down thors. They would both play it dirty.
Thorfinn was powerless against her. Gram and Thorkell are too stupid to handle her. Only Askeladd could give her some real trouble.

Gardar was heavily injured while fighting snake lol, snake just had to poke his wounded place and gardar was in pain. If gardar was in best condition he wouldnt stand a chance

I think Hild at the start of her arc was easily top 6 or 7, if its straight up, beating someone else and not just raw strength.
I do agree, she is easily top 10 if she is in her peak, when she is hidden in a usually natural environment.
She is very unpredictable and has full control over her Field/environment.
But it’s hard to also compare her in close up combat, cause well, that’s not her make skill.
Plus, it’s Hard to Compare Sharpshooters with close up combat characters anyways.

thorfin used askeladd's technique to beat garm so id put askeladd prime over garm and equal to prime thorfinn

Hild ability is very situational. If the fight is in forest or rock mountain, she Clearly become Top 4, even Thorkell Will have headache facing her. But if the fight is in the empty space, she's kinda ass.

Thorfinn admitted himself that Garm is stronger than him, Thorfinn used the same strategie Askelladd used to defeat him once. He made Garm get angry and loose control, if it wasnt for Garm's personality Thorfinn would've died in their first encounter in the forest.
So he lost to Thorfinn…got it
Thorfinn didn't even have any weapons plus he didn't want to kill Garm in the first Place. He was trying not to fight him at all.
And then the reality hits that thorfinn folded so many characters in that arc(including garm). And he did it all while avoiding to fight and kill any of them(not to mention that he didn't have a weapon)

I reckon current thorfin may be if not stronger then as strong as throkell prime, sure raw strength thorkell stomps him but skill agility and combat experience i rekcon throffin tops him in that, since thorkell is just used to using raw strength in wars he never really needs to worry about technique but thorffin grew with askelads crew and was in many different situations doing many diff tasks, so i think experience wise adult thorfinn may be able to beat prime throkell but ay thats just a theory and this has been vinland theory 😉

Young Thorfinn literally defeated Thorkell, idk how we're putting Thorgeir > Thorfinn and Askeladd (old).
Bro, if that was Askeladd or Thorfinn attacking Canute from the beach, they would've destroyed him and all the guards.
Askeladd is also the man who defeated Thors, (playing dirty) - but being an amazing tactician plays to his strength as a character. He is essentially undefeated, and just allowed himself to be killed for the sake of Canute. Also, there is no way Gardar > Snake, Young Thorfinn, Askeladd and Thorgeir. Gardar was pretty strong, but he wasn't an effective fighter, shown when Snake destroyed him within 30 seconds. The only reason Gardar was able to choke out snake was being it was a rear naked choke.
So many wrong with this, but the number 1 is an undeniable fact

Thorfinn is forced to fight again and has to rethink his "pacifism" ideology and how imposible that is considering his world and age is full of war and stuff, so he fights again...but only as a last option when he can't talk his way out of some situations. Kind of like Thors, he didn't want to fight, but he had to because he didn't have another option.

Have you read the manga? I think it's weird that he saw Askeladd instead of his father to guide him. If you read the manga, is it because he spent more time with Askeladd than his father, Thorrs? I've seen a few fan theories calling Askeladd Thorfin's father figure, and I hate that idea because I know how much Thorfinn hated Askeladd for murdering his dad but, so far in season 2 this is the 2nd time Askeladd NOT Thorrs has help save Thorfinn's soul-so I'm confused.
@@333angeleyes yeah it's because he spend waay to long with Askeladd, and even if Thorfinn hated him with all of his soul, Askeladd did indeed give him useful advice from time to time, even if Thorfinn didn't want to, so yeah, he learned waaaay more with Askeladd than with Thors.

@@ds1448 Gardar was starving, was still wounded and has been bleeding from that wound for 3 days and he still made Gardar struggle. He only lost because of his injury drained his stamina. He was also tunnel-visioned wich in Vinland Saga makes you far easier to beat.
