I have not seen a movie that has stuck with me this hard in a long time. I think about it so often that it’s practically a part of me at this point. This movie is also one of the most quotable movies of all time, and I’m not sure if it’s intentional or not. “Have you tried putting ice cubes on your shoes? It will change your life!” “Listen woman, I have more art degrees than you can imagine.” And “Wrist water on my neck” should be way more common. I think I love this movie, and that scares me.
My favorite part of the movie is that blue monster just curb-stomping Pillow and then cutting immediately to that blonde guy basically going "I mean to be fair it is really hard to get into art so I kind of see where she's coming from" I'm obsessed with this movie, it has all the ingredients to be a real movie but it just isn't, and I would kill to find out why it's like this.
As an art major (well music but you know, art department) I have been quoting "I have more art degrees than you can even imagine." so much over the past week and NONE of my friends know what I'm talking about Also this video was very good

Little things like where the wrists bend and how the fingers hold themselves, where the shoulders slump a bit. And your line-art is so expressive! The whole thing comes together (especially with your use of color) in my brain as a love-child of 101 Dalmatians, the show Charlie and Lola, and Picasso's cubist period! The pleasant, indulgent wonkiness seems to belie a real care and sharp attention to detail, as well as a lot of hard-practiced technique and even classical sensibilities. I think that's what separates good from great :) Also Ravel is literally my favorite composer of all time; I've studied him... probably way too much! hahah Bolero isn't my favorite piece of his (La Valse achieves the teleological goals better I think), but it's a fascinating exploration of orchestration, registration (in the organ sense), and insanity! Really drives me mad, and I think that was the point hahah

Really really love this video! It's pretty much the highest degree of what I could've asked for from ending up being a big reason why the movie/beatboxing puppy clip blew up at all starting on Tumblr. I have mixed feelings on Calobi as an individual but there's been so much needless genuine vitriol flung towards the movie a lot of which is coming from people more upset he criticized TADC in his usual kinda-insane Calobi manner than actually caring about its quality on its own merits which is disappointing and it's at least nice to see it seemingly hasn't discouraged him too much. It's really something special to me because it's an original work from him, with the scriptwriting style of his videos. Obviously that wasn't his intended effect but it shows in every crevice of the result, the rambling and incredibly strung-out nonsense sentences clearly trying to pad out a video/movie runtime and that feel like they're leeching off of tropes in some strange alien way while still convinced they make perfect sense, the consistent references to anything on his channel that got him any amount of larger attention (wristwaters, the ice in shoes stuff), even just Calobi's channel characters in the movie. I'm glad there *are* other people who appreciate it on that sort of level, the absurdity of it all is uniquely entertaining no matter how many times I've watched it. I definitely think he could learn to make something more coherent as an actual film while still retaining that "Calobi-ness" that lets it stand out more and I hope people can start to appreciate it from that lens because I don't believe it deserves the cheap shots it's been getting when there IS genuinely something there even if it wasn't intended.

I didn’t know aaaany of the calobi drama before i made this video, but i definitely think that approaching any work of art and taking it as seriously as it asks to be taken is a very worthwhile way to analyze it. If you look at this movie on the surface, it just looks like some animation tests or whatever. but if you meet it on its level, like “okay you are saying you’re a full movie, and youre including scenes that are clearly not supposed to be funny, so let’s critique this AS a full fleshed out movie” you’ll find soooo much more and YEAH i totally totally agree. now that i’ve learned a bit about Calobi since i uploaded this, think this movie is pretty clearly a cheap cash grab at least to some extent, but there’s enough personality there that if he actually put some work into the script and cleaned it up for a few more drafts he could make some actually really fun i think
also that is really interesting to hear that the wristwaters thing and the ice on the shoes thing are references to older stuff that got him attention, i had no idea!! those parts just kinda made zero sense to me hahahaha so i just ignored them but knowing that actually explains them 100%
The disturbing thing is that I can actually see the wizard being Eric Cartman *the thing that makes it disturbing is that he looks like my dad without a beard-*💀

Really really love this video! It's pretty much the highest degree of what I could've asked for from ending up being a big reason why the movie/beatboxing puppy clip blew up at all starting on Tumblr. I have mixed feelings on Calobi as an individual but there's been so much needless genuine vitriol flung towards the movie a lot of which is coming from people more upset he criticized TADC in his usual kinda-insane Calobi manner than actually caring about its quality on its own merits which is disappointing and it's at least nice to see it seemingly hasn't discouraged him too much.
It's really something special to me because it's an original work from him, with the scriptwriting style of his videos. Obviously that wasn't his intended effect but it shows in every crevice of the result, the rambling and incredibly strung-out nonsense sentences clearly trying to pad out a video/movie runtime and that feel like they're leeching off of tropes in some strange alien way while still convinced they make perfect sense, the consistent references to anything on his channel that got him any amount of larger attention (wristwaters, the ice in shoes stuff), even just Calobi's channel characters in the movie.
I'm glad there *are* other people who appreciate it on that sort of level, the absurdity of it all is uniquely entertaining no matter how many times I've watched it. I definitely think he could learn to make something more coherent as an actual film while still retaining that "Calobi-ness" that lets it stand out more and I hope people can start to appreciate it from that lens because I don't believe it deserves the cheap shots it's been getting when there IS genuinely something there even if it wasn't intended.

I didn’t know aaaany of the calobi drama before i made this video, but i definitely think that approaching any work of art and taking it as seriously as it asks to be taken is a very worthwhile way to analyze it. If you look at this movie on the surface, it just looks like some animation tests or whatever. but if you meet it on its level, like “okay you are saying you’re a full movie, and youre including scenes that are clearly not supposed to be funny, so let’s critique this AS a full fleshed out movie” you’ll find soooo much more
and YEAH i totally totally agree. now that i’ve learned a bit about Calobi since i uploaded this, think this movie is pretty clearly a cheap cash grab at least to some extent, but there’s enough personality there that if he actually put some work into the script and cleaned it up for a few more drafts he could make some actually really fun i think
also that is really interesting to hear that the wristwaters thing and the ice on the shoes thing are references to older stuff that got him attention, i had no idea!! those parts just kinda made zero sense to me hahahaha so i just ignored them but knowing that actually explains them 100%
