Give me Danny's screaming, man-sounding tenor every day!!!! And Glen's perfect pitch and tone every day!!! And George's resonating chest bass every day!!! And Mark's baritone-tenor-lead fit where he is needed glue sound every day!!! I thank God for putting these voices together to bless us with their ministry. I let my 2 year old daughter listen to these songs and believe she sings them all :).
I will never tire of hearing Danny Funderburk; he gets under that anointing and just belts it out for the world to hear! He is a total sweetheart, and I am so blessed to call him a close friend.
The Cathedral used to come to Gilead Baptist Church in Taylor, Michigan, every year for Christmas and I got to meet Danny. He was a huge blessing to my soul and I think he's the greatest tenor singer ever. I wish there was still praise music like this these days....
I was 12 or just about to turn 13 when I was first introduced to this classic quartet called The Cathedrals. And this was their lineup. I now am 42 and their exquisite sound still thrills my soul. Oh how I miss George and Glen and I do look forward to joining the bass choral section once I enter the gates, what harmony awaits!!! From that early age I became a huge fan of the Cats and their musical masterpieces are still blessing the hearts and lives and I thank God for their music that blessed my life!
What a happy and soul-stirring song, sung by some of God's finest kids in Southern gospel music and. Danny's high notes give my goosebumps......well, more glorious goosebumps ! This performance is a glowing testimony of an American institution of yesteryear. Thanks so much for this upload- it makes me want to jump for joy, praise God!!!
Hi there, just, sharing the Lyrics for these blessed song: When I look at the moon and stars in the sky I can see the hand of the Father. In the valley so deep and rivers so wide, I can see the hand of the Father. I can see the hand..... when I look around me I can hear the voice....blowing in the wind I can feel the mighty touch of the Father’s love Ev’rywhere I go, ev’rywhere I go His presence surrounds me I can see the hand, I can hear the voice, I can feel the touch of God. In the music of birds and rustle of leaves I can hear the voice of the Father In the thundering rain and whispering breeze, I can hear the voice of the Father. I can see the hand..... when I look around me I can hear the voice....blowing in the wind I can feel the mighty touch of the Father’s love Ev’rywhere I go, ev’rywhere I go His presence surrounds me I can see the hand, I can hear the voice, I can feel the touch of God. On a warm summer day when the sun’s shining bright I can feel the touch of the Father. In the snow that falls on a cold winter night, I can feel the touch of the Father. I can see the hand..... when I look around me I can hear the voice....blowing in the wind I can feel the mighty touch of the Father’s love Ev’rywhere I go, ev’rywhere I go His presence surrounds me I can see the hand, I can hear the voice, I can feel the touch of God.
I haven't heard this song for 33 years. Thank you so much for the son. How can I remember all the words from 33 years ago? Am I'm being tested? God knows and that's all that matters.
I came across this fantastic group in the 90s when I bought their Anniversary album and never ceased to keep watching the inlay card for more details. What a blessing. I sure do want to feel the touch of the Father.
I read today that Steven Curtis Chapman wrote this song. I've been listening to a Steven Curtis CHapman song for ten years and didn't even know it! I have found a connection with my CCM friends!
@scoobleboo I agree a lot with what you say. The greatest songs are born out of true conviction of the writer. We seriously need writers that aren't going to write the same old cliche's (i.e. heavens sod I will trod, forevermore on the other shore), but original thought and true purpose. If you follow country or pop music they are suffering from the same problem. I think good writing may be snuffed out by seeking the best radio single.
If memory serves, the Cats singled this song just a month or so after another group, The Sound, (Scott Fowler's group before joining the Cats) also singled this song. I believe both groups had this song on the Singing News charts at the same time.
This song great song was written by CCM artist Steven Curtis Chapman and his father. One of his first songwriting awards. I group up listening to the Cathedrals beginning with Something Special.
I am blessed to know Savannah Foust and she has indeed written many other songs which have been recorded by the Cathedrals as well as others. Check out the Cathedrals Blood Washed Band. Also In the Palm of HIs Hands by the Palmetto State Quartet. Also Mention My Name by the Hoppers. She's a grand ole' Christian dame, but she is in declining health so please lift her up in prayer.
@scoobleboo Don't you mean Daniel? haha. Yea. Jon needed a lot more spotlight. To me his is a top notch lead. Arthur is right up there with him. Shane Dunlap was as well, until i heard him on baritone, and i thought he would make an amazing baritone. Okay. How's this for a monster quartet. The lead and baritone switch of on half the songs on parts, so each gets equal lead time. Danny on tenor, Jon on Lead, ARTHUR on baritone (since he sung baritone with the Kingsmen) and Tim Riley on bass. Eh??
@scoobleboo Savannah Foust wrote Somebody Touched Me. So maybe she can write some more classic hitters. Maybe there are some songs from Rodney Griffin or Dianne Wilkinson that never got recorded that could possibly be huge hits.
@scoobleboo Change the bass to Tim Riley, or George Younce, and you have once heck of a group! Ray isn't a strong enough of a bass to keep up with the trio.haha

@thebenstrong Tim is a great bass, but as you can tell, i always have my weak points for every singer. Tim is great in his upper register. But when he gets down low, he seems weak and more of a "fry" bass. And he's been getting way to showy and doesn't really know how to handle a microphone, and it bothers me to death! But like i said, with these weak points, he also has very strong ones too! Otherwise he wouldn't be singing with as popular of a group as he's in now.
He was the best tenor ever!!!
Facts yes he is

Glen wasn't always pitch perfect
I know. He was human. @@familyb5800
This proves again how they were the best. The live version here blows away the recorded version, and the recorded version was no slouch either.
When glenn comes in after that high note....just makes it all the better. Danny is simply amazing.
Just as important for effect as the tenor note.
The Cathedrals were never better than right here, in this video. Absolutely phenomenal.
one of the greatest voice in the world...danny
They are all great singers, but that tenor is a thrill to hear! Amazing!
Danny Funderburk soars on this song some great high notes
I will never tire of hearing Danny Funderburk; he gets under that anointing and just belts it out for the world to hear! He is a total sweetheart, and I am so blessed to call him a close friend.
Kris Gangwer I feel the same way, although I've never had the pleasure of meeting him!! Would love him to come to my church in East Tn!!
