I was a kid in the 80’s and into the 90’s and was blessed to see them many times. It’s hard to put into words what an influence they had on me as a youth.
I saw them in person when I lived in California. The video clips don’t do them justice. Listening to them sing live was an awesome experience especially when I sing. Hallelujah a cappella. It moved me to tears. I miss them, but one day we will all be singing with them in glory.
I'm older, 36 now, but I too was raised around it. My dad was a quartet singer here locally, and I got to share in that as I grew up. Now I am so thankful for the memories these songs bring.

I'm 16 and I wasn't really raised on this kind of music but since I was about 12 or 13 I have been singing in the choir at my church I started then as a tenor and one of the first songs I ever sang in choir just happened to be this one right here I loved it now a few years later I heard this song by the cats (until then I didn't know it was their song) and now just a couple weeks ago me and my buddy in the choir decided to have some fun so on the last chorus we did George's bass part. =D
Couldn't have been done without Kirk and George! I have a deep bass voice (never will be as good as George) and me and some guys are together working on some of these old songs. I actually had a chance to talk to Kirk Talley tonight via Facebook and I told him what an awesome job he did on this song. He told me he's got some kind of damage to his voice so he doesn't get to sing much anymore these days. :(

Ivan Parker and I wrote Step Into The Water. The song was written in Flemish. It was written on our honeymoon to the Holy Land in January of 1973. We were wading in the Jordan River and I got swept downstream by a flash flood. Ivan was training for Olympic swimming and he jumped in to rescue me. We rode the current till there was a place to safely get out of the River. We wrote Step Into The Water while we were resting after the ordeal.
Wow, those guys are great singers. It doesn't all go to the young people. Gospel music is not my jam, but I loved this song as a kid. Anyway props for some major talent.
