SSL695 ~ Preparing to get our BUTTS KICKED
Вставка
- Опубліковано 3 лис 2023
- Part 2 of our storm preparations as we get ready for what could potentially be a killer storm, or nothing at all.. we have no idea but all we can do is prepare for the worst and hope for the best. We still have about 12-18 hours before we need to decide if we should stay or if we should go.. if we stay there will be trouble, and we go it could be double... pray for us..
Cheers,
Captain Rick & Crew

Seeing Tiki in the intro is sad. I hope she's living her best life whenever she is.
Awesome restaurant!! You both look great 👍
I would use seafoam injector cleaner every fill especially with a new motor, keep them nice and clean always.
What a beautiful couple 💯 smooth sailing El-Capatain
Great crew. You did well bringing the New Guy aboard :)

Stay safe, captain, I have faith in you. By the way, nice shirt while out to dinner.....Tommy Bahama?, lol, I have a collection of them, but that one is particularly nice !
New haircut really suits you>Rick ; Looking great , man . I recently sheved my beard off , lost 10 years
hope Tiki survives the storm wherever she's at
Fingers crossed 🤞
Be careful out there Rick, not all storms are obvious.
Yes this is for sure!
Run that at idle at 1800 with a full load. With the propeller run at 2200, no higher, you need an Egt gauge but at the higher RPMs you put more air and the fuel will cool the injectors. The higher RPm will also help burn the carbon. Diesel love loads, remember I figure 32hp for both alternators, so run only one under way on power, cut the other one if you need more power. That engine at 1800rpm should be able to handle a full alternator load, it will not cause any issues if you have good water flow at 1800 rpm. Should also make great hot water. On my Beneteau I put a police alternator on my 28hp Volvo diesel engine. It pulls 14-20hp, puts out 180amps but I get about 150 at 1800, puts a good load on the engine, charges my 8d and 4d after 4 days, plus runs 2 freezers and one fridge. Creates great hot water. Burns about a liter an hour with that load. You also need a fuel polishing system.. God Bless with the storm. Think you are in a good spot.
the air filter was my first thought. it's like buying a used car some granny drove that runs but dies and puffs black smoke. Go race it down some back roads clean it out so it can breath. However i wasn't sure if it was same with a boat though. Yet figured would be much the same. Change the air filter take it for a spin run it get all the carbon build up blown out then it will run like a dream. if that doesn't stop the dying replace the catalytic converter and that more often then not fixes it. I've bought a couple cars super cheap because people didn't know why they were blowing black smoke. the one first was clogged air filter, the second one was air filter and catalytic converter. Last one i bought that was 2 years old it had spent more time in the shop then out and it turned out it was a battery connection $400 and new battery i had awesome new car. I wasn't complaining they were great cars dirt cheap. Thanks for clearing that up it's same with a boat :)
I am glad to see that you got something figured out on your engine.
Lacquer thinner will clean fuel system on a gas engine works great.
I am lighting another prayer candle for SSL,an for the big wind to settle to a mild flutter.... sending much love an positive energy..Thanks for sharing your lives with us! Glad you figured out the exhaust situation thats a relief... Again love y'all one day soon I hope to meet ya !! ✌🏼💗😊⛵
Definitely thinking of you guys!
Prayers and Blessings to you all.
You need a day tank with fuel polishing inlet.
We did that after the first time we shocked the tank with biocide
Vino Norton is from Argentina,Captain
Glad ya got an answer to the “Black Smoke” issue👍 Captain seems most capable getting ready for trouble…Stay Safe & Enjoy 😎
Stay safe and hope the seas are with you!
Good luck on your storm Hope you make it. OK,
Thanks mate!
Great engineering.Impressive
I love it all, but especially seeing that yellow green moray eel. It would be nice to have a visible clock on your take down video of the sun screen with solar panels. Thanks.
Great Bro 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Very stressful good luck!
Tell me about it, and thanks!
We used a lead line compass sextant atomic clock charts saw dinosaur etc
Hello Rick I’m Roatán an we had 10 days of bad weather, y’all be safe
Hope you don't have to go but either way you are prepared.
This system showed similar erratic behavior when it was South of Puerto Rico. Looked like it was developing and next morning it was completely disorganized. Good luck to you all!
Stay safe crew
Doing our best!
all points south, asap
Be praying for y'all 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏....Thanks Chris for the Yellow Tail it made me hungry just looking at it....Thanks Cap Maddy Ricci and crew 👍

Good move with the diesel injector cleaner. I've come to the opinion that modern diesel fuels are not suitable for all diesel engines. a can in the tank got rid of the strong smell of diesel from my exhaust and every 6 months I use the tank bacteria treatment. I use the LiquiMoly brand and I only have an older Nissan vehicle, not a boat.
Just a thought Captain Rick about your smoky engine. In the UK someone had the same issue and the cause was the turbo its turbine was getting stuck they took it apart checked the bearings they were find but noticed the blades were getting stuck from soot used WD40 which is a rust freeing oil stuff cleaned it out and it stopped the Engine smoking.
Be safe with mom and Jr.
Will do!
As of Nov 5th 5:00 pm CDT...forecasts for San Andreas is calling for about 70% chance of scattered thunderstorms till the 14th. ....
Have you tried a day tank 😎
Hey everyone, would shade fabric that is usually found at garden centers, work for the solar shade? Just a thought.
Hi captain. I'm thinking about transforming diesel engine to a big generator supplying 2 Emotors propellers will do the trick 👍🏻🌹
The idea comes from the diesel electric train
Lots of good ideas but still very expensive and requires a lot of batteries to propel between charges
great. what website for wind are you using in your video. tks
PredictWind.com
Not sure when the bad weather Capt Rick was talking about. I just checked (11/4/2023) and the only report is for some rain with thunderstorms ⛈️… 🤷
It was october 31st

You had the old motor for 30 year's, why would you be concerned about a brand spanking new shiny red motor?
black smoke.. always need to figure out the source of the issue no matter how old the engine
@@SailingSophisticatedLady right, I agree, and you said it was the prop. That's why I figured no problem while your moving..
@@5ringsaudits I think after that weather situation is past, they'll do test runs and find out what's wrong. I'm not an engine expert, so I don't have a useful opinion. I'm just good at asking questions, but at the moment I don't know enough to come up with clever ones...
You have sht fuel Rick,,, clean it up...
