@@Dee12327 True, crank for 30 seconds then let set for at least 60 seconds. Myself, I prefer to use another truck to air it up then pull start it if possible. Some trucks you can't air up unless there's a tire valve stem in the air tank. Installed many of those before. Seems pulling is easier on everything, batteries, starter, and wiring. Once pulled started an International with a 350 Cummins in 12 degree weather, aired it up, pulled it about 100 yards before it started the driver said it was turning about 1500 RPM. That's a lot of RPM for that much time. Truck had been setting for about a week.
I had a few of these transtars with big cam cummins. Too much ether made them harder to start. Just one or two sniffs were plenty. Any more than that you would risk locking up a piston or two and throwing a connecting rod. What great tractors they were. I enjoyed driving them!
You must keep your throttle to the floor when starting. This is an old school diesel motor. Keep your right foot planted to the floor until all 6 cylinders are firing. If not it will continue to stall. Shesh, youngn's. Have to teach you everything.
I would check to see if the oil air and fuel systems need replacing and I would refill the fuel tanks with fresh diesel fuel and I would clean the fuel injectors fuel system seems to the problem here I know because I used to work on semi truck s
Normally they will not idle so you got to either hold it halfway down or to the floor and once you get it started you got to try to rev it and keep a little higher RPMs

One hell of a starter motor!!
No. Most starter motors will be perfectly fine doing that

BIG CAM 400 SOUNDS GOOD!! She was clearing her throat!!! Love an old school Cummins!
Love the sound of those old Cummins engines !
Am I the only one who DOES NOT miss working in these road commodes ?
Those were the days of good diesels the Cummins gods have spoken
2 stroke detroits started better in the winter any other diesel
Me and my irrational want for owning a bunch of these just to enjoy listening to while driving
like to see people save works of art!!
Really great cranking!
This is the only International I ever liked.
Not just cold start but also sitting for a while
Wait what, frank? is that you
I can smell this video.
Love to smell those smokes

Very cool....................... 👍👍👍
oh my, I think I would have put new filters on and filled them with fuel for starters. How long or how many years was it sitting?
Since the early 2000's
Looks like me this winter starting diesels lol cold starts fer dayz!
I would love to be cranking over diesels like that. Love listening to the starters while they are cranking!
