    Really love that you show people all your miss adventures (not mistakes). It is very humbling of you.. so many other UA-camrs would delete that and only show the perfect product..
    It has been a very up and down year for you buddy, but you have stuck to your guns and have come at the end a bigger and better man and channel..
    Thanks very much for sharing.
    Have a wonderful Xmas and a even better productive new year..

    For those that may not have a 3d printer, Mike VanDuzee has developed end caps that you make by casting resin in a mold. Only works with american style downspouts. He has a youtube channel.

    Have you considered including screw holes on the sides of the end caps to reduce the chances of blow outs? This would mean the silicon could be used as a gasket instead of as a glue and gasket.

  • @MenAreSpeaking
    @MenAreSpeaking 4 місяці тому

    Have you considered using rivets to fasten the system? Perhaps caulk, adhesives, or glues can just be there for sealant. A rivet is a convenient way to fasten two surfaces while you only have access to one side. This makes rivets helpful for piping systems where you cannot reach the inside to, say, hold a nut in place for a bolt. Rivets come in alumin(i)um and stainless steel, so it should be rust free either way. I would suggest Alumin(i)um, as a softer metal wouldn't bite into the vinyl as much when riveting. A hand rivet tool is inexpensive, as are the rivets, and is a good hand-grip exercise 🙂

    Thanks for the video mate, love it. I was wondering, with a future version, could you perhaps add tabs to the side of the end caps that have securing buttons on the same. That way, drilling two small holes to fit the tabs would give you that extra security of it not being able to blow the whole end off.

    Hi Hoocho! I love your videos. They've been very inspiring! It looks like you've created a wonderful paradise for yourself 🙂 I wanted to ask, how often do you drain the nutrient solution for your strawberries, or do you just let it fill through the float valves as it evaporates?

    does this work better than the dripline inserted in the bags? which one is more cost effective and lastly i saw some videos with bags and drip irrigation lines placed right next to the plant in the bag.. end of bags are placed to return excess water back..

    Just use a couple of stainless steel screws on each end one on either side along with the silicone would stop the ends from popping off like that especially if the silicone doesn't actually adhere to one of the 2 plastics very well but would still seal

    Hoocho, have you modified a 'deck rail planter' for any of your rain gutter systems, seems like they would work well. I've seen your videos but haven't seen you utilize them. They are commonly available in Canada, maybe not in Australia.

    silicone and then sheetmetal point screws to hold in place until it dries. Id use shoeglue over silicone. silicone is useless as a plastic glue but screws is a compromise.

    This looks like a great system. I've done many of your systems before and have had great success. My question about this one is...are strawberries worth it? After many seasons of different varieties of vegetables, I've never had the output of strawberries similar to tomatoes, cucumbers, etc. I know the tastes are amazing, but do you think the juice is worth the squeeze? Maybe this technique will change my mind though, but I'm hoping to hear from others.

    I found that I wasn’t successful growing strawberries in a couple of experiments using hydroponics. Some they got way too hot and others feet were too wet for too long. I purchased root stalks as well but I didn’t have one success out of 25. Sooo frustrating! I don’t know if the nutrient solution wasn’t strong enough or what the issue was exactly but I wasn’t able to save them despite best efforts. It’s my dream to have strawberries growing inside my apartment one day!! Please advise how you managed with your strawberries from a year ago and how your current setup is working. Just such an expensive undertaking compared to growing the easier plants like lettuce and tatsoi but will also enjoy even more!!! Thanks for all your help in teaching about hydroponics I’m absolutely blown away on all the food I’ve grown from seeds!! I would have never believed possible indoors!! 🥰❤️🙏🏻🇨🇦Happy New Year!!

    Awesome creations. Ill have to give this a go. I can't help wondering about leeching. Plastic's and other such material can and will leech chemical, from its structure, into your soil. I guess we cant really get away from it unless we use wood from a safe source.

      You must be in the UK like me and have struggled with finding the rectangular style pipe, the simplest I've found but not built yet would be to use 110mm diameter pipe as you can buy it anywhere and the same with fittings, you can get 4" post covers that are for decking but the cost isn't feasible. The other way is to make a wooden open top box and line it with ground sheet plastic.
