@jennynott3841 he was at an event that was a fundraiser for the special Olympics back in 2009 in Portland. He was doing a cooking demonstration; cooking scallops and risotto.
The producers and set designers really know how to make it look like the actual restaraunt. Hard to believe none of Hell's Kitchen was filmed in his actual restaurant. Rock rocked it.
What annoys me about Rock and other contestants is that they act like babies when they lose a challenge. However, what was really fked up is that The Gordon called Rock all they way to the photoshoot just to pickup trash.
I'm pretty sure he called Rock out there to see if he'd break under pressure, etc, because he saw Rock as a strong competitor. As you can see, he was right.
I love the last four chefs of this season, aside from Rock’s outburst, they all have so much talent, passion, and respect for one another. And as the cast shrinks all of it only grows. I especially love how both Rock and Bonnie are just all in on showing they’re own talent, and banter and hug despite being in direct competition.
Rock grew up in the ghetto. That was key. My Dad was a Navy man. On HMCS Margaree, he was the supply officer. He worked closely with the kitchen/mess staff. The cooks taught him how to make various things, to bolster his mother's teaching. He loved hosting dinners at home. Once he decided to make lobster bisque for his guests. He had never made it before. He studied recipes for a week, then knocked it out of the park on the day of the dinner. His guests were delighted.
Rock is like a person who is really skillful but lack of opportunity because of he came from a poor family. People like that are very afraid to make mistakes or to f*ck things up because they understand that they need to work hard just to get an opportunity.
