🇨🇵 I love this kind of videos. Everybody has to educate himself. It's not enough to say "I like Hermès because of the history and craftsmanship". You have to understand the pricing, the time it takes to train new artisans and to make a bag, the shortages worldwide... Artisan work especially in the luxury business is not fast fashion. Customers have to be patient in order to buy the best. We hear a lot of conspiracies about Hermès, especially the one about scarcity. France has 67 millions citizens. Most of the young adults go to the college/university to become well educated workers like IT, engineer, banker, ... So, it's quite hard to find people who want AND are able to become artisans. And you heard from Marie that, at the end of the long trainee time, there's a hard selection. The fewest succeed. The part if the video I love the most is the explanation of what is artisanship, heritage, transfer of know-how, pride resulting from perfect work, ... Artisanship is timeless. It has nothing to do with buying a Hermès bag just to show off. I'm sure that we all have new questions about this topic. Your guest recommended to put a sort of bag organizer inside the bag but didn't mention a specific one (brand, quality, material, ...). Do you know the answer? Thank you for this special video. I hope to see more in the future.👍

Thank you so much for the thoughtful comment. 🖤 really appreciate it. Also, in one of the upcoming videos, I show the inside of her bag, but I believe it was more of a soft zipper pouch.

This has to be my fav UA-cam Video of all time. Although I know most of the things she spoke of from the purse forum and my fellow Hermes collector friends, it was fascinating to hear from her as well. I also enjoyed hearing specifics regarding the training and other aspects of becoming an artisan for H. WHat goe sinto making a shiny croc bag was jaw dropping!! Please please please do more videos with her!!! I am so suprised CHEVRE leather was not brought up as a favorite! It is hands down my favorite as it provides the best of all Hermes worlds in one leather.... smoothe, slight sheen, rigid shape, sturdy and hearty. Again, thank you so much for doing this video dear xoxxo

Juliet, I absolutely love this video!!! Just one suggestion for hopefully future interviews. Please, let Maria talk! As any non-native English speaker she isn’t fast as you. It feels that you interrupted her a lot and sometimes put your spin on the topic. I understand that you’re very passionate about the subject; so don’t take it as a critique. 🤗😘

I have to say that this is the best video I have watched regards Hermès bags. This lady is so interesting. I wish you would have asked how much she was paid to do her job as an artisan. Bags sell for a lot of money and they wouldn’t exist if not for skilled people like her. I hope she was paid very well. She certainly deserves every penny she made.

What a great conversation! I love that Mademoiselle M is such a treasure trove of knowledge and skill. As an equestrian, I have a great deal of experience cleaning leather on saddles and bridles, and maintaining the integrity of the leather after years and years of use. I would love to hear her talk about the equestrian heritage of Hermès and the artisans' work on the company's equestrian products. An Hermès saddle is the sine qua non for those of us who actually ride horses and covet H equestrian items. I also loved your discussion of the variety of the different leathers and the bags that they best suit. I myself have bags and accessories in Clemence, Togo, Vache Naturale, Amazonia, Chamonix, Chevre Mysore, and Barenia, and a wallet in Epsom. And I absolutely adore and covet your Tadelakt bag! ❤️ Looking forward to future parts of this video!

The bags I feel like have a life, and same goes for shoes. They go from pristine to really covered in patina and telling a story to the last stage where it’s really just the end of the life od the bag. Hermes bags last a century. I am don’t own any items, but do have friends who do have some very very old Hermes pieces and they are still very usable (we are taking 40 years old).

that was very interesting. first time I see an artisan. very lovely Marie. I wanted to cry on a moment when she met a bag of her make. so touching. if you have a second chance please ask about routine at the workshop. how they are told to make this or this bag, do they compete between artisans and how, do they compete for better supply or for more interesting bags, do they do a few bags of the same kind in a row or rotate all the time, can it get boring, what if some piece of leather is spoiled, what is some expensive piece is spoiled, can a one get finance fine for ruining something valuable there?

I wonder what Hermès does with the practice Kelly's that are made. I am more than certain they do not put those in the stores even if they pass inspection wondering if they ever sell those at a discount or if they go to Preloved sites or what's the deal?

Thank you for such an interesting and informative presentation with Marie and with your beautiful bags. ❤️ 💗
I have a question, if you don’t mind asking Marie, maybe in your next interview with her.
In your show, Marie was showing her beautiful hand stitchings.
On a Hermes bag, how to tell if the stitches are done by hand stitching, or hand made with sewing machine?
Are all slanted/ saddle stitches done by hand stitchings, or they could also be done by sewing machine with especial needles at Hermès workshop?

No matter if it's the *yutulux* or any other, my steadfast belief stands that only practitioners can perceive dissimilarities in the sack looks or the metal constituents.

I love this!! I have one Hermes bag and it’s the herbag 39 in rose azalee. I have never inquired about what the stamp means on the back of the leather. It’s stamped A TS 004 AU. Would you be so kind to de code? I find it fascinating

Also, how is the best way to care for this much canvas and keep from scuffs and such? And can I use apple guard to protect the tan leather?

I wonder if she uses a Fourbi inside her bags... i find those work the best and do not affect the shapes of the bags negatively.

Thanks for this great video! I have a question, where is the artisan stamp located on the bags? I know that on hermes dinnerware, there's a stamp on the back of the plates or cups. (So far I've seen an airplane, tulips, bow ties etc)

Great question! I’ll see if I can ask Marie 🖤 but I’m guessing it’s the stamp on the inside of the bag that we typically see. Or sometimes it’s behind the front handles

@@JulietPicard I see. I wasn't sure if the artian stamp were like dinnerware stamps. I suppose it makes sense if it's the typical stamp on the inside of the bags or on the sangles.

I was under the impression that Epsom really in the same league of leather as say chevre. Epsom is a stamped skin so I heard it can be lower quality skin. Is this accurate or no?

Really loved this interview! She is such an amazing person and you have great conversation skills. I learned so many new and interesting facts. Thanks a lot!
If there is ever a second part to this video, I'd like to ask what is the most gentle and safest way to clean the outside leather at home, not spa level, just the general every day maintenance for the most popular types like togo and epsom. Thanks in advance.
