Creole and Cajun food is heavily influenced by French, Spanish, African, and Caribbean cooking. Creole often has tomato while Cajun does not.
Gotta love southern Louisiana. Best cuisine ever.
Indian food is INCREDIBLE, i agree I really hope they come to visit India.
Mind-blowing food
Indian restaurants are very popular here in Florida. I don't know how authentic they are but people love the food..
Soul food is so delicious and when made with love not only feeds the stomach but the soul as well 👌❤😋
4:35 ketchup (catsup) is tomato based. "hot sauce" is pepper/vinegar based.
"sea-foody" is a term he invented at that moment. This is kind of common in the english language and possibly other languages.
I've never heard that term used before in my entire long life however I understand what it meant immediately.
What it means is.... the flavor presents itself as having the qualities of some type of seafood that is easily distinguishable from the qualities of a food from vegetable, fruit or meat source. His senses tell him that there is a seafood component although he might not know exactly what ingredient is used.
It is common in relaxed conversation for words to be created in a manner in which the others in the conversation would understand without needing an explanation due to english being the primary language and the comfort level.
Also... verbs are invented a LOT. An example might be.... "I was googling yesterday and find an interesting topic of conversation". Google is, obviously, the search engine but then the action of using the application to search for something yields an invented verb "to google". I google, you google, he/she googles etc
Traditional India restaurants are somewhat common in the US. Also, Middle eastern style restaurants and japanese.
For Mexican and Chinese however, there are two styles in the US. What is referred to as Tex-Mex, which is an Americanized version of Mexican food but you can also relatively easily find traditional Mexican restaurants. Also, Americanized Chinese food but also traditional chinese food restaurants.
If there are enough customers in any city who desire something, there will be an entrepreneur who will provide it. The US is a consumer based economy and the market responds to what the consumer wants.
You can identify parts of the chicken by appearance. Each cut has a certain shape and size to it. The breast is the largest cut. Its also usually dry, hence why they were suprised by how juicy it was
Also they taste completely different.
surprisingly, there are a lot of countries that do not cut chicken in the way we cook chicken.
Indian and US southern soul foods are similar they're not the best looking but taste amazing.
Yeah, josh and ollie have a vid for the best Indian take out in England... well worth your time 👌
You might like Louisiana f. Though, not a lot of vegetarian dishes, and I think I remember you saying younare vegetarian. We go as hard on the spice and full flavor that Indians do.
We do also have Indian restaurants run by Indian immigrants.
*food. Not sure how I made that typo lol
It wouldn't surprise me if they visit India someday to try authentic Indian food. Josh and Ollie seem to travel all over the world and are adventurous eaters.
It's called cat fish because the fish has 2 whiskers and the fish is a fresh water fish.
she has the most beautiful hair i have ever seen.
There are vegetarian versions of a couple of those dishes. Gumbo Z Herb is a vegetarian gumbo that is full of fresh herbs and leafy greens. The jambalaya can also be made vegetarian by using mushrooms, Brussel sprouts, and perhaps root vegetables. The yams are sweet potatoes that are candied with brown sugar and butter.
Today Jolly just released another great video on Louisiana food; this time Barbeque.
Would love to share some Cajun and Creole food with more people from India. I grew up eating Cajun and Creole, and whenever I've had Indian food it's been similar in so many ways, while still being different. Think you might really like it.
Healthy vegetables in both cuisines. Desserts that seem simple, but are really pleasing like Bread Pudding or Rice Kheer. Comforting spice that's about adding complex flavors. Dishes like Gumbo and Curry have a lot of crossover. etc.
Edit to add: Plus the Southeast U.S. is the part that can get closest to the heat and humidity in parts of India. That has to have an influence on some of the similarities in cuisine and what types of food feel good to eat.
Brings back memories of my living on the southern Louisiana coast as a young teenager.
"Seafoody" means the tastes of various seafood. It's a word Josh made up.
The gumbo is supposed to be served over white rice.
Jambalaya is a rice dish that has the various meats and seasonings
According to genuine Louisiana residents, you're supposed to mix the sauce with the rice. I personally would take what I need out before my spice loving younger sister dumps her amount in.
S India food is special, so is US Southern food. They made an error adding hot sauce ;-( Most spicey food works without meat. Oyster is a shellfish. Seafood must be fresh never frozen.
Amazing!
Thanks.
The crew finishes what they can't eat, so nothing goes to waste.
Soul Food is just southern food.
Yes.... they are mostly eating Cajun/Creole food, not specifically Soul Food (and you're exactly right... there is no difference between Soul Food or traditional southern cooking. Perhaps an almost indistinguishable nuance and nothing more.
You mentioned chicken biryani. I had some delicious chicken biryani at a local Indian restaurant a few days ago. The restaurant also gave me samosa chaat to try. That was delicious, too.
I think Jolly has a few videos where they do visit Indian restaurants in London.
It would definitely be awesome to see Jolly come and visit your country. Always wanted to try Authentic Indian food. Dont got a restaurant like that around here anywhere. Not in my part of the country anyways. I want to visit one day too.
Watching this after having a meal of lamb vindaloo.
just watched uncle roger and the cowboy cook. seeing you give them a tour food tour would be a sight to see
Unfortunately, these few type of videos are not showing the variety of vegetables US has making people outside the US think we don’t have a variety of non-meat foods but we do. Without even visiting this restaurant, I know they would have greens, green beans and possibly coleslaw which is cabbage.
I think you need to see the produce section of a typical American grocery store and you would change your mind about the variety of vegetables we have.
There's definitely vegetarian versions of gumbo and jambalaya.
Sounds questionable.
The young lady is frowning at the fried chicken. If she has eaten fried chicken, she wouldn’t be frowning she’d be smiling.
To me salt water catfish is better than fresh water cat fish
You have no idea of what variety is ...we have every kind of food in america...including indian.
Hey, it's worth mentioning that these people have been under a brutal occupation for over a century and if you are going to talk about their culture then you should also talk about their fight to free themselves from occupation. I'm glad you enjoyed our food, but we are a people and a race that deserves the human right of self governance in our own home. Enjoy our some of culture, but don't forget our fight.
🙏❤️ ☬ ❤️🙏
huh? it's a literal food of many cultures Spanish, French, Native American and some African it isn't one kind of cultures food lmao gumbo is mostly associated with the white French Cajuns with some African influence specifically Okra, jambalaya is mostly Spanish (derived from paella) with some African influence.
🇺🇸❤️🇮🇳
@@kevinprzy4539 Gumbo originated from a West African dish and was in Louisiana way before Cajuns arrived. They adopted the dish. Louisiana Cuisine is heavily influenced by West Africa not just a little. Jambalaya also comes from Jollof rice brought by Senegalese slaves predating our time as Spanish colony. No real proof that it came from paella.
both of what you said is false, a simple google search will prove what you're saying wrong.@@JLDReactions
It black food!
