  • Mark Fisher and Janis Gillham Grady are joined by their guest Danielle Chamberlin from the UK.
Danielle tells her story of being sent alone to the Sea Organization ship Apollo- as a 12 year old with no parent or guardian. She suffered both physical and mental abuse at the hands of L. Ron Hubbard and others on the ship. Danielle wasn't a Messenger for Hubbard but instead worked in the ships galley and other areas doing manual labor without any adult looking after her.
Assigned to the Rehabilitation Project Force as a child and then later locked in the dark, dirty, dangerous chain locker for days as a punishment. She finally left the ship and went back to England.
You will hear about L. Ron Hubbard's days in Rhodesia (Zimbabwe) where he was eventually thrown out of the country by the government.
You will also hear about Danielle's life after leaving the Apollo and working in Scientology for several years before finally leaving.
Danielle is a loyal supporter and member of our channel.

I did the forward chain locker Solo at age 15 for 48 hours in 1975. Barbaric, and it’s still in my mind.

@@daniellechamberlin198 They wrapped up a bit quickly so didn't mention, I caught that you left the Sea Org in 1982 but which year did you leave Scientology entirely?
Also I was trying to figure out how long exactly you were on the RPF on the Apollo based on events you mentioned while on it:
      - 20 June 1974 Total Solar Eclipse southern hemisphere from Madigascar to New Zealand
      - October 1974 "rock concert" Maderia Portugal locals threw stones at the ship
      - RPF's RPF, locked in the forward chain locker for 3 days with Lisa
So I should just ask directly, how long were you on the RPF/RPF's RPF on the Apollo, then how long again (and what year) at Stonelands?

The stories of stonlands bring back a lot of memories, I remember the fire, RPF being berthed in the “boat house” and eating beans & rice. I run amok as a kid, my mum used to always cook Christmas dinner for all the people that lived there. I was there same time as Danielle, I used to mow the lawn driving the small tractor starting at 6 yrs old.

Incredible interview. The things that Danielle offers viewers is a painful truth. 12 years old and sent to live on a ship away from the guidance of a caring parent. Total control, authoritarian control in a setting of unsupervised 12 year old girls that have been deemed adults from birth, just in little bodies. That sounds like making them "autonomous" at birth means you make them responsible for their actions and decisions in that justice system. Then the folks that are abused are gaslit and abused for saying anything. Crud, I'll double my donation the the Aftermath foundation. Just bought an SP hoodie to wear to work. Keep up the great work.

Can a class action suit be a solution to the child abuse? Nothing will change until DM is held accountable. It wouldn’t be easy. It would require gathering all the children/etc for a legal plan.

Thanks so much for interviewing Danielle, you all did a great job! Much Love to you! The Commodores Messengers have a unique position in the history of COS abuse, and sexual abuse of children. What with it's history, and the similar history of neglect and abuse in the Cadet Org, how can anyone support Scientology? What a criminal organization! 😖😡

this is one of the most harrowing stories i've heard yet. how scientology kept growing while this torture of children went on and on just never fails to shock me. miscavige is horrific but it's obvious, hubbard was no better. scientology has always been about destroying families and indoctrinating people.

The abuse of Scientology is woven in the threads of scientology when it was made. The threads are tainted with the tears of beautiful people who deserve to be validated. This church design is made to abuse children and probably women and gay people as well. Free thinkers probably get a bad shake also. Oh, Janis, that is abuse and neglect. This makes me sad and angry and I'll give more to the Aftermath FOundation.

I always love the "Rock Slam the like button." This is on so many levels a joke, insider joke. In the know people know that L. Ron Hubbard's own "case folders" have endless "Rock Slam" notations in them, which way long ago were considered signposts positive, signs of one's deeper "case" that one was correctly targetting and sleuthing towards. Then later, this signpost "Rock Slam" came to mean the worst reflection of oneself, supposedly meaning one has "evil purposes" of significance which required posthaste eradication with Hubbard's later developed pseudo-therapy techniques for getting rid of one's "evil purposes." Well, the joke on Hubbard of his own "case folder" Rock Slams he racked up himself, this meant that all of Hubbard's earlier "Rock Slams" had to be either reinterpreted, as Mary Sue came to the rescue she graciously reinterpreted Hubbard's very own "Rock Slams" as mere "Dirty Needles", and not "Rock Slams" (indicators of Hubbard's own "evil purposes"). This to me is one of the continuing examples of the crackpot founder of a crackpot subject changing the goal posts during the evolution of their crackpot subject.
Later generations of Scientologists whomever displayed "Rock Slams" of course then could not automatically escape the "evil purpose" interpretation on themselves, but had to have a sorting out bit of pseudo-therapy to determine if the "Rock Slam" reactions they'd caused were real or were in fact "Dirty Needles." While one waited around for that specific Hubbard bit of pseudo-therapy to verify one's "Rock Slams" were valid pointers that one had "evil purposes" or not, one was under suspicion.
This is truly one of the nastiest aspects of Scientology. One was pretty much considered suspect and all one's questionable behavior was interpreted as rooted in the past lives "evil purposes" one secretly and unknowingly harbored within one's "own case" in one's soul mind.
Scientology's rather Hubbard's "case" views of all persons on earth, aren't simply clearly explained. But "Rock Slam" labeling of a person meant keep those people away from the main cult action until they got the Hubbard pseudo-therapy to remedy their "Rock Slam" indicators.
But "Rock Slam" is the perfect "hoisted by one's own Petard" messed up Hubbard tripping over his own quackery. Hubbard's modern full official Scientology has this high potential to cause followers and staffs the well exposed Sophie's Choices and Catch 22s Scientology.
(Exception, join the tinier and splinter freezone Scientology groups about in the world, or "Ron's Org" alternative Scientology groups in EU, because those friendlier Scientology splinter groups out there just drop most of the Hubbard worst Sophie's Choices/Catch 22s).
"Rock Slam" away, thumbing one's nose at the Hubbard world of crackpottery.
    Chuck Beatty
ex Flag Course Sup (1977 to 1981, 1982, 1983, then I supped other years later, I took it completely seriously, but it's crackpottery to me now.)

His story is in Mike Rinder's book. It is also in one of our earlier videos, but I can't recall which one just now. He was locked up in the chain locker on the Apollo and Mike Rinder had to watch him as one of his first duties on the ship as a teenager. Welsh had gone crazy and Hubbard was using him in order to develop a rundown for handling psychotic people called the Interiorization Rundown. Of course is doesn't work.

I have watched a number of Scientology based channels, and for the life of me, I cannot understand how grown adults with, presumably, a functioning and reasoning brain, can be taken in so completely by such utter codswallop! As with all cults, if you are born into it, or forced into it by your parents, it just seems like the natural order of things - but to ACTIVELY CHOOSE?!!
I had a close call with Mormonism when I was 11. My Dad had been persuaded to invite a Mormon missionary around to talk to the family. We all gathered in the living room and waited...and waited..and waited...h turned up 1 1/2 hours late, and my Dad was so angry he sent him off with a flea in his ear. But even as an 11 year old I'm sure I would have seen through the nonsense (it took me another 31 years to see through the Christianity cult).

Scientology hooked people back in the 70s and earlier because there wasn't the information out there regarding their beliefs and what they were doing back then. No internet. Not much in the way of reporting. It was different times. You defintely don't see people getting involved as much any more. We appreciate your comments and for watching.

Talking about the Apollo. Does Janis remember the death or murder of Susan Meister aboard the ship in 1971 while docked in Morocco? She was found laying in her bunk, shot straight in the forehead with a pistol on her chest with the hands crossed over it. They called it a suicide! No way!
