So I've started Man Called Ove per your Required Reading assignment... I am listening to the audiobook and I will admit that I had a hard time getting into this Backman book. The grumpy old man was a bit insufferable. I even had to restart after about an hour because I felt my mind had strayed. Then I ended up DNFing the 2nd try, but I had no other audiobooks, so I kept going and I really started to enjoy, especially young Ove storyline. I still have 3 hours of audio left and as of right now it's about at a 3.5 or 3.75, but we will see... All the Bear Town books were 5 stars and Anxious People was 4.5 stars so I do love Backman's writing, but perhaps Grumpy Old Men ain't my thing
As much as I love A Man Called Ove I can definitely understand it not being for everyone. I find Ove's grumpiness becomes endearing as you learn of his life story and how the world has changed so much so quickly during his life. But if you don't like him then reading the book is going to be a tough time haha I really want to read Anxious People as my next Backman book, I think I'll love it!
@@MichaelaChristineReads I did finish and I did come to understand where Ove is coming from and I did enjoy it, but grumpy old men definitely ain’t a fav… I gave it 3.75
