    Chrissie Hynde is a legend!! Brilliant songwriter, vocalist , guitar player. She inspired my coming of age as a teenager in the 80’s my songwriting, and showed us young women that yes we can be rockstars and not groupies!!!

    I feel lucky to have seen the original line up in central park in 1980. Climbed a huge tree and watched from up there. no real production just amps and the stage. Very cool time in music.

      Letterman had him on and showed a clip.

    • @ericmalone3213
      @ericmalone3213 Місяць тому

      @@tripperdelaluna1 Letterman was rather uptight with Mr Van Vliet talking poetry ("War is a pimple on the Pope's pet dragon" etc) over DVV/Beefheart's two Late Night appearances. As well, not a word the Captain said of himself was true (as per usual)! Today the good Captain is "legendary" & "iconic" (two words that should be properly retired) but back in the day, he was mostly ignored, marginalized, or banned! (When Jean Doumanian took over SNL after Lorne Michaels departed, she drove the show into the ground, but her one redeeming achievement was featuring Captain Beefheart & The Magic Band as the musical guest).
      I've always been somewhat annoyed by Chrissie Hynde learning to play popular music conventionally, because those interesting songs in odd time signatures on the first Pretenders album vanished after success arrived. Don't get me wrong, she's still utterly stunning! (I said "somewhat annoyed").

    Chrissie and Martin, from the cool that time forgot ❤
    Popular recording artists today aren’t cool, they don’t know how to be cool, they don’t know what cool is, yet they all think they’re cool.
    Holding mobile phones in the air at a rock concert is not cool, it’s sad and pathetic. It’s people with damaged souls.

    I would love to see the Pretenders with Karen O singing the lead. Chrissie should continue as a solo artist. Her voice today just doesn't deserve the role she helped create lead singer.

    • @OMGWTFLOLSMH
      @OMGWTFLOLSMH 7 років тому +13

      Huh? Are you high? Who the hell would want to see the original lead singer replaced when they can still sing? lol. I thought her voice was spot on. I was surprised how good and accurate to the original recordings she sounded, especially since she's been a smoker for decades.
      This woman has always seemed hard core to me, suffering no fools. She scares me. haha But they're one of my favourite bands to this day, with so many good hits.
