What should we rank next time? 😉
Beers
rank the best shrines to go to next please!
Japanese beer
Or rank Japanese sweets
Japanese sweets or snacks
Emma + Sarah = absolutely the greatest time. Love this duo. ❤😊
I think it's so interesting when Sarah's Japanese slips out inadvertently (?), like at 21:21 when she goes あ~、でもー
I mean this in the best way possible but I started getting sleepy watching this video. Not because it's boring but listening to you both talking together is like listening to your friends talking amongst each other and falling asleep
I loved how Emma told Sarah that she'd have acid reflux for her (curry) 😂. I can't wait to try tempura. Brilliant video ladies, thank you 🫶
If you like Takoyaki but want to skip the Tako, you MUST go to OKO Takoyaki in Osaka next time! (Vegan/Vegetarian Takoyaki).
Also the main Restaurant OKO Fun is run solely by the kindest and most amazing woman who exists in Japan.
Thanks for the tip! 😄
“Saggy is the new soggy” 😂 I agree udon is S tier. Fun video once again, lots of laughs
I'm with Emma on not liking eggs and I'm with Sarah on loving plain salted rice balls 😂
I NEEEEEED EMMAS SHIRT
I was happy to discover that gyudon is super easy to make. I like my version of Japanese curry better... I just make it a little less sweet. I like the ramen I tried in Japan too, much more variety and better broths and noodles in Japanese than in the US.
I think Emma is a softie and likes her fam and friends a lot which is why shabu is so high. 🥰
Australia does sell thinly sliced beef now, can get it a coles and Woolworths in the freezer section, mainly for hot pot. loved this video ladies!
I tried a Japanese restaurant near me a few months ago and had Japanese curry for the first time. It was pretty darn delicious.
Absolutely Loved Every Minute and Laughed along with both of you, specially Emma
y'all hanging out is my happy place
very nice to hear the ladies opinions on all these foods especially as a person who also loves tempura, gyoza, and shabu shabu!
15:51 I saw you move the youshoku down to punish Emma for not liking eggs.
That was the correct choice 😂😂
You both are way too cute to not be on the screen all the time! The energy and conversation between you guys is contagious! Great fun video.
Tempura as the highest rating just seems so right
You both always bring out a smile in me; thanks for the food recommendation/rankings! 🙂
Just love Team Emma & Sarah 😊
I live in Japan and I agree with you that Ramen is overrated by people who don't. My personal favourite noodles are udon, however I do like tsukemen ramen! "Dipping Ramen".. If you haven't tried that then I highly recommend it. Although, I still prefer udon! 😂
Tokyo Creative another informative video. Thank You. 😊
Glad you enjoyed it!
Sarah! You can buy frozen thinly sliced beef and pork slices in Asian supermarkets in Australia. I make gyudon and shougayaki all the time at home!
日本食は ”やわらかい” ことが 美味しい とされているので、明太子やしゃぶしゃぶも人気があります。日本人は柔らかい食感が大好きです。
HELLO 👋🤗😊YAH EMMA & SARAH back 2gether AGAIN ❤ UR videos 2gether BCAZ U BOTH 😮😊😂me up & UR VERY informative & honest with UR reviews!!! ❤
I love reading comments in these videos lol
S-tier Curry. Redeemed.
The only thing better than curry? Cheese curry pan
The contrast between their preferences is, remarkable.
You guys rock so please keep these up. My suggestion for the next one would be sauces given there are many are so prevalent in Japanese dishes, I still struggle to make a good gyoza dipping sauce so I would be all ears. I feel Takoyaki is overrated and find the filing tasteless. I cannot always get it here in regional New South Wales thus a reason to experiment. In my opinion that's why they add mayo, tonkatsu sauce, seaweed and bonito flakes to add more flavour. Enjoyed the ratings shootout though bad Emma should have listened to Sarah and elevated Karagge and Gyoza to S...
I REALLY want to like takoyaki more because I love seafood and in theory it sounds amazing, but here in the states every time I’ve tried it there’s barely any octopus in it, the batter is REALLY sweet, and even though it comes out hot as hell it still seems like the batter is undercooked on the inside…
And NO nabe is not overrated!! I’ve been craving it ever since the weather cooled off lol
Last note, Sarah’s cheekbones, hair and makeup were on point in this video and really triggered my girl crush 😂
I had to learn how to not compare nabe/shabu shabu with sukiyaki. Only then was I able to begin appreciating quality nabe/shabu shabu broths.
餃子は最高ですねー!
Emma and Sarah are always right in their ranking of Japanese food 😂
I lived in Japan and still loved ramen, so hah!
Not quite a year in Japan, but a nice ramen like, once a month is great.
If I ate it more than that I'd probably die from the salt.
I too am a gyoza sauce drinker!
I agree about udon. I only like it in curry udon….a thicker sauce, not soup.
Okay, okay ladies break it up! Shabu shabu and sukiyaki are both good. No need to come to blows over it.
Korokke. What about the underappreciated, and understudy to tempura, korokke? Beef and potato korokke preferably smothered in Bulldog sauce.
Mentaiko is like Vegemite... Gotta only use a little, or mix it with something rich... So that it doesn't dominate. 5:15
Sarah loves salty rice balls? No wonder she lives in Japan!
Japanese places in Dallas also don’t put salt on tempura.
I love agedashi tofu! I'm not even really into tofu. Out of all your vids I swear this is only the second or third time y'all have ever mentioned agedashi tofu. Also kare raisu S tier all the way!!
15 seconds in and already we're getting attitude from Emma! 😂 I LOVE Japanese curry.... I think I might have a problem with it to be honest.. A good problem though! It's a good problem to have!
Without a doubt you two my favourite TC double team, you just buzz off each other so much.... Saggy prawns 😂
By the way.. I totally get Sarah's gyoza addiction.. When I learned that Japan doesn't believe in salt n vinegar CRISPS (not chips 😛).. It all made sense.. Fried gyoza and sauce is probably the closest we are going to get to salt n vinegar crisps... Someone needs to get on that.. Hey Sarah, how about some Sarah Salt n Vinegar crisps/chips?
Mentaiko in D?!? You gotta be kiddin' me! Love the stuff, and I honestly believe even the boys from Lionfield would agree mentai pasta is an improvement over any traditional Italian paste...
(and pretty sure they won't approve of Napolitan, nasty stuff....)
Nah I think the beauty of Ramen is not in being good. Ramen is a star *because* it's everywhere, it's relatively cheap, it's a chonker of a meal, and it's pretty hard to make bad ramen. So it's a reliable choice for when you don't want to decide what to eat, especially in colder weather. But S tier it is not, indeed, even if specific recipes and/or specific shops might be. It's like a burger in America (well not quite because it's pretty easy to make a bad burger, but you know what I mean), or a Dönner in Germany, a burrito in California, fish and chips in England, etc.
Agree with a lot of them (I'm a veggie so the vegetarian ones at least), but I'd put good kushiage in the S tier.
I live in Japan and still love ramen.
You CAN get thinly sliced meat in Australia from asian grocery stores

海外の人が日本食動画で、筑前煮などの煮しめを食べてる人をまだ見たことがないような...
「肉じゃが」はよく見ますね。あと魚の煮つけもたまに見ますね。
今度、根菜類の煮しめ料理を食べてみてください。
I had a Tuna Onigiri for the first time this week, having listened to you rate and talk about them over the years. I have to say it was the dullest food I think I have ever eaten. Think I was expecting chunks of tuna rather than a thin paste thar you hardly noticed. I will stick with Lawsons triple egg, cheese and tuna sarnies for the next 4 weeks😂
And if Emma gets less reflux from Indian style curry, maybe try Yuiga Doxon if you're ever in Furano! Not quite Indian style but definitely far less sweet sauce and more herby/spicy than Japanese curry.
3:18 Sarah busting out her Boston accent with ‘saagee’
Karaage, gyoza, tempura and curry S tier all the way. I agree on the sukiyaki, shabu shabu, nabe, oden ranking, flavor matters so sukiyaki is an A, the rest are meh. I like mentaiko but it’s probably something you have to grow up eating, otherwise it might seem a little odd. Youshoku is a broad category. Napolitan? Pass. But a good hambagu? Sure, delish. The international ramen craze will probably eventually fade and people will move onto something else. It’s just OK, maybe a B. Onigiri? Come on, who doesn’t like onigiri? I think the Japanese Ministry of Onigiri Enforcement will come to your house and deport you from the country if you don’t like onigiri.
Noooo sukiyaki should be in S tier along with tempura and gyudon! 😄
😍Sarah 🥰🥰
And about living in Japan and still loving ramen.....just ask Brian "Ramen Adventures" MacDuckston ;-)
Sukiyaki should be in S tier for sure! mioum !!!!!
Having visited Japan, I completely understand being overexposed to ramen. I still love to eat them where I live though, since it's the only decent Japanese food besides sushi you can get here.
HOWEVER, my opinion would change it if we had any Gyudon or good Tempura or Okonomiyaki or just more variation in general.
I could go for some saggyyaki right now
Okonomiyaki is S tier ++++
I don’t like eggs either, Emma >~< I’m worried about what foods to eat in Japan
Unpopular opinion... Takoyaki and Osaka okonomiyaki are both D tier at best
this video was definitely not saggy lol. always awesome when you two are together.
i
gindaco in my country have a sausage option instead of octopus.
This is good but I wish you'd explained the food for a second or keep the text up for more than a couple of frames
あなた達、絶対に前世日本人だったでしょ。(笑)日本人が英語で聞いても二人の話、いつも超面白いんだけど。lol😂
It's ok Emma, the other day I said something about soggy boobs 😅 Those words just get mixed up sometimes...
What, tako yaki without tako???. It's like pasta primavera without vegetables. Oden, the best is daikon with spicy mustard
Napolitan on the same level as gyoza is a crime against humanity.
"Rich, thick, and sweet" That's how I'm trying to be. ☺☺
Emma needs a lid on her stomach.🤣
I havent seen Jordan in a while. He quit?
Come to think of it you're right..
I’m pretty sure he was filming
Makes sense! @@cailinanne
the tiering in this video was not half bad.. i would say omurice is A tier though. i remember kizuna cafe in nara had a really good omurice
lets compare your results next time!!
and i thought the trash taste boys made honor to the name. Excellent video tho
Yeah, if I'm paying a 100 dollars on fried veggies I'm not putting them on the soup lmao, more like I'm never ever gonna pay that much for anything fried, sorry but that's completely ridiculous
Unpopular opinion: Japanese curry is a stew.
すき焼きに比べて、しゃぶしゃぶは肉の本体のうま味を味わえるので好きです。 すき焼きは”たれ”が濃いので、食材の本体の味をあまり感じられない気がします。
you guys are wrong 🤣🤣🤣
Hanpen isn't egg white, it's a fish cake made from shark meat.
Mentaiko in Hakata ramen (which isn't in the sac, in my experience), mixed into the broth, is good. Not a fan of eating mentai as the primary ingredient of a dish.
Japanese curry is meh, I much prefer Thai green curry or Chinese chicken curry.
For me, the problem with sukiyaki (IIRC, it's been years since I've had it) is that the broth overwhelms everything, so everything winds up tasting kinda the same. Shabu shabu lets me appreciate the individual ingredients on their own merits (albeit with sauces).
Not ranked, but gyutan, when done well, is at least A-tier. When done not so well, it's D-tier.
And you are dead wrong about ramen. I don't eat it as much as I used to just because I'm trying to eat healthier, but there was a time when I was eating ramen 2-3x/week, including once for brunch after having it for dinner the night before (same place, Ippudo, which isn't even my favorite). You cite its ubiquity as a reason for having a lower opinion of ramen, but you don't do the same with some of the other dishes, which you seem to be basing their rankings on the best case scenario. Also, there are many styles of ramen, and they're different enough that they might as well be considered different dishes, so "ramen is everywhere" isn't really a good argument for your case. BTW, I would only put Hakata/Kurume/Kitakyushu ramen in S-tier. The other styles are still better than udon and soba soup noodles though.
Yea, it's a very weak argument. so what if its everywhere.? it's one of the dish that represents Japan. a national dish. of course it's gonna be available everywhere. and there's countless varieties of ramen, way more than udon and soba combined. there's ramen for everyone. they don't helped themselves with their own points or even try to make it sounds reasonable. just sounds stuck up, "oh because we're right". childish
Have you only eaten cheap meals?
Ramen > takoyaki
Easily
Mentaiko was actually invented by Korean fishermen working under a Japanese company. They were given the offal and scraps of the fish they caught that couldn't be sold in the Japanese market as part of their payment, and so it was poor Korean fishermen just making do with what they had available to them who created this iconic Koreo-Japanese dish. At least until corporate realized how popular the dish was becoming among their employees and decided to try it themselves. They loved it and immediately decided that the fishermen could no longer keep their roe sacks and instead started to sell it to the Japanese, taking away the little half decent food they had available to them.
Sarah looking smoking hot.
this was a great saggy list jk lol
but... WHAT ABOUT KFC???????
You are・・・
I am losing faith in both of you. You placed onigiri on the same level as karaage and gyudon...come on! You also cannot place takoyaki on "A" level as you both don't like the octopus in it. Come on ladies, this is serious stuff!!!!!
Yes!! Why takoyaki is A!?? jej but I agree with the girls tako is unnecesary and would be so much better without it😅
They're super inconsistent. sometimes when they don't praise the food that much, I thought they gonna put it low. then suddenly A tier 🤣 then when they actually speak good about something else, they put quite low. lol what.?
You're wrong! :)
"It's everywhere". that's the weakest argument I've ever heard. LOL y'all didn't even try to be reasonable. won't go well if you actually have someone to counter argue you there. lucky it's just you two
Raw egg - yuck!
