This was some Archive footage I have from the 2021 u20 season when I did some scouting of u20 players. Canan Moodie played 13 for the Bulls. He's special on attack, but had some flaws on defence at 13. So defensively speaking, I think he's better suited for 14, but he's still young. But either way, he's a good option to have at 13, but personally I think his long term position should stay at 14 where he can become world class.
@@tsaki_titan He has the potential. But remember, Henco was the reason Moodie had to play 14 for the junior boks. Like I said, Moodie is developing into a world class 14, I would much rather have that. Than sit with 2 world class 13's because that would mean we're wasting talent. Unless SA ends up doing something like Henco at 12 and Moodie at 13 I can see that maybe happening. It would be an amazing combination of defensive and attacking skills. But as of now, I like Moodie as 14, I think he's defence is perfect for that position, whereas at 13, he still has a lot to learn about spacing and not overcommiting to tackle. Whereas defensively speaking, Henco is player closest to Am in that regard.
@@tasanalyticsyou really like this Henco van Wyk guy.... You've beeeeen trying to feed him to us. Lol..... IMO Canan is a great option at 13, this video and your intel from past junior boks I'm sure Jaques and Rassie have it. Plus they do drills with the young man. I'm sure he's improved from 2/3yrs ago.
@@Luntu I've said it many times, Henco's the best player I've ever scouted, and I'm not afraid to say that. As for Canan, I agree he's a great option to have and as I said in the description, this video is 2 years ago, he's obviously improved a ton since 2021. Just saying he does have a problem with sometimes deciding when to commit and not to coming, which is totally understandable consider he hasn't even turned 21 years old yet. I'm confident someone like Am and Kriel will help him at training with that. I like Moodie always have, it's hard not to root for the guy, especially if you watch his interviews and listen to what other say about him. It certainly looks like he has the attitude and mindset to become great.
I am so glad people finally seeing this boys talent. I said after watching him play that he needs to start and go to the world cup. Well done to management for seeing his talent. Excellent rugby brain he has
I just saw that your latest video between the Springboks vs All Blacks at Twickenham got taken down :(. Anywhere else we can watch it? I NEED to see that video
I am starting to see the Moodie rugby brain that`s being shouted about, ON SHOW. Thanks. Great upload. Edit to add. I wonder who Canan`s hero`s are. Imagine James Small or perhaps Ray Mordt or JP Pieterson. He has some big balls to fill.
There's an awesome article of him painting number 13 on his chest when SA won the World Cup as tribute to Lukhanyo Am, so I would imagine that's one of his heroes. Not to mention how surreal it must be to now fill in his shoes and learn from him. It also shows you how big difference a player like Am can make, for instance, Henco also likes to study him on defence. So we have 2 of our top young players, trying to model their games to Lukhanyo Am, and I love to see it.
All any side can learn from these video clips are that Canan can play at no 13.If he reads these comments he will be motivated to play well.If we don’t try him at 13 we may never know.I back him to pull it off.Jake White says its his best position.
If I included the full matches, then maybe they could learn stuff. But I've watched all of the u/20 games in 2021, he a completely different player defensively now. In 2021, he had quite a few flaws, like his rush defence and his tackle completions. But as we've seen at wing, he's way smarter now (He still makes mistakes, but he's shown us that he learns from it game to game), All this video shows us really, is how fast Moodie is and how smart he is on attack, he's also got a very good offload game to him which we've not seen yet at international level because he's not played that much yet.
@@tasanalytics Well do we need anymore evidence after last weekend😂moody centre arendse and kolbe on wing, and mannie's kicks are looking so great now😍
He smoked a player against Argentina 15m behind the advantage line and I don't recall him being physically dominated in any of the previous games, even against Korobeite of Australia. If anything, Canaan is the physical threat, but quietly.
dont know if youve watched any of the recent games but hes acctually very strong defensivley very good at reading plays and a strong tackler against wales he was constantly able to disrupt thier back moves by reading the game and even made an intercept
In 2021, I would agree it was above average at best, but this is 2 years ago. His defence is a lot better now than it was back than. Now defending at 13 is obviously way more challenging than at wing. But you can see his Rugby IQ has gotten a lot better since 2021. As for his attack, I can agree with that, he has natural ability on attack and is faster than he looks.
@@tasanalytics forsure his defence is better, but he tends to defend to the inside instead of parashute with the ball. Look he a a great player I just dont like it when players play to many positions and then coaches tend to bugger them around. Gaffie du Toit and Damien Willemse are prime examples

I agree. Whilst Jesse had his best game in years, it is important to note that both of his tries were scored only because he happened to be at the right place at the right time.

Moodie is being thrown to the wolves, this isn't a good idea for South Africa. Defensively he is flawed, which everyone is aware. The All Blacks are gonna run big bodies at him all day, non stop. South Africa should have named Kriel in the starting line up and put Moodie on the wing, Mapimpi out of the team.

My concern is his defensive game. Let’s see how he deals with Ioane. Attacking he is lethal.
