Best advice I could possibly give and many others here have already said it. Remove ALL the old carpet. All the cabinets come apart with screws and can be put back with ease. Plus it will make putting down new flooring much easier with all the cabinets out. A little more work but much better end result, plus the piece of mind knowing for sure it’s all clean!!

I hope you.let the seller know you and that you also post him/her the videos.
Granted you probably (in hindsight,as much as is possible, given that a certain amount of trust and transparency is expected from buyer to seller) have checked it more thoroughly.
Nevertheless I totally understand your disappointment.
I do believe their is light from this......from the very beginning to go to the ends with this will be so worth it! You've got a stunning layout and can make it work and live living happily in it if you do this intentionally and totally thoroughly. You will have peace of mind, great success and satisfaction. If not then you would have done an outstanding job to resell with a conscience. You will have choices.
      I admire your tenacity,best of luck❤

As a fire and water damage expert for 35 years. When you do a restoration, take it to the bear bones. In other words, you're never going to get pee out of a piece of wood, it saturates the wood and will be there forever. You're never going to take part of the carpet out without pulling everything out that is sitting on the carpet. Then remove all carpet and all wood that is saturated in urine, replace all subfloors that have water damage,Then begin ANEW😮. In other words.
    Rebuild
And create you're OWN version of what you want !Have no regrets.BEGIN with your own ideas and don't look back.😂😢😮. Seriously, you're not leaving just a little bit of that carpet. In places that makes no sense that urine saturated your carpet, you're never going to get it out, and it also gets into your sub floor and that should be removed, or you're going to have the smell of urine forever. IN FOR A PENNY
    IN FOR A POUND

Leave no old carpet behind like many others have said. I'd wear gloves and a mask dealing with anything since mice droppings and urine. Mice have virus/disease and prob not good to touch anything they went to restroom on with bare hands. It will be a lot of work but well worth it in the end.

My old RV experience...I bought a 1992 Toyota MH back in 2017. I bought it from a couple who wanted to travel with their little dogs and found the one was terrified of being in it, so were selling it. I took it to a mechanic before agreeing to buy it and had it checked over mechanically. It passed with flying colours and the shop was super impressed. It also had a 25 year old recall for some parts that never got seen to, so I was able to take it to a Toyota dealership to have that seen to and had a bunch of other stuff replaced as they had to dive deep in to the motor for the recall and it saved me a ton in the long run. So I had a very sound, mechanically, MH. Then the reno started. I was painting and found the over cab bed covered rotting wet wood. I was devastated. But, thankfully I have a very handy and willing husband who rebuilt it for me, stronger and better than the original. I also found rotting wood under the shower. I used a wood hardener to harden up the rotted wood, which worked great. I sealed the roof with eternabond, did a whole interior redecorate and a couple of years ago painted the exterior. It has been a labour of love. She is my happy place and I don't regret any of the work that has gone in to her. Her name is HONEY.

Agree with some comments below - disassemble / remove all cabinets and get rid of ALL carpeting. Once it is out, you can use treatments on wood flooring to remove the odors. Go back in with weatherproof laminate flooring. You can likely get parts to refurbish the furnace - it is not that complicated. You definitely want to recertify or replace the propane tank.

Jaylena, just something to think about, is spend some time looking around your Chinook, every place you can possibly look in to, as to 'rat proof' your unit, before you get going on the rebuild too far. You never want to have this issue again, so it's just a heads up, to spend some time seeing possibly where the vermin are getting in. Apparently, I'm told to also check up front, as they can work their way from the engine area, and even come in through heater ducts and such, so making sure everything is sealed is essential with your little one on board. We also keep mouse traps with us, for a 'just in case' senerio! You're amazing, and kudos to your hard work and abilities on your rebuild Jaylena! Interestingly...one time we had an issue with our motorhome a couple years ago, and where told to go to Eugene (which we did) and had excellent service. Unfortunately one of our four 'slides' needed parts, which were going to take a week to come in, but we tow our car behind us, so we just drove home to the Vancouver, British Columbia area (7 hour drive) but still, they did a great job on the repair that was needed!

Ozone Machine, baby! Those rodents hide where you can't see.
They will run out as Ozone depletes the oxygen in the area!
Yes, remove all plants and food from van/room! It works great!

Tearing up a thick carpet takes a lot of strength... It is advisable to disassemble everything. That way the carpet will come out in one piece. Wood absorbs odors. It is advisable to replace the wood floor + paint with glossy varnish = to seal water and odors... Recommendation after installation: wood floor + varnish + thick nylon + before carpet. So if coffee is spilled or food falls on the carpet. It is not absorbed by the wood... In general, wood without varnish is sealed. A habitat for bacteria, especially in a humid area / or 00

I am having a box truck built out. My builder put on an 18" bumper and put the steel top on so my propane tanks can be mounted in a steel cabinet made of catwalk material with 2 shelves. He said old ladies like me don't need propane tanks inside. If your propane isn't safe, your life is in danger. You will sleep better at night if you replace that propane tank.

They have blades made specifically for carpets. Has a sharp edge on top and bottom of it. Or you can use a roofing shingle blade, which has a hook at the end of it. Hopefully that helps. Plus you should invest in a better flashlight. Like an Olight or a Fenix.

The enzyme stuff is very helpful. I bought a house for rental, and the people had a herd of dogs that pissed all over the place. When they moved out, I pulled out ALL carpet, tack strips, and trim, and sprayed every inch of the floor (concrete) with the enzyme. Dried it, then repeated the process. After that, I vacuumed thoroughly and the smell is totally gone. It neutralized the ammonia and whatever other 'natural' stuff in there. Not expensive. I have since re-carpeted the bedrooms and put in wood laminate flooring. You can buy it concentrated and mix it in a garden sprayer... not expensive. (Oh.. I was also wearing a mask when messing with the carpet and the poopy areas.)

Kilzs or Z PRIME will seal the floor against smells. As for the propane tank, once removed, sanded, primed and coat of paint, go to a propane DEALER have them install new valves and recertify for safety. I had to do this for my 2012 travel trailer. Most rv tank readers won't after a few years, My black tank always reads full because tp gets caught on sensor screws and causes the low voltage circuit to turn all four LD lights.

Try a multi tool with a scraper blade for the carpet removal, Crack the windows open when possible, I understand that it's cold out, but you need ventilation to allow for the smell fumes ext to get out, wear a mask when messing with the removal, it is totally necessary for your health, some gloves also, mice droppings can carry some nasty disease that you don't want, be safe , I'm enjoying watching the progress, thanks for sharing

THIS-> "OdorPet Concentrate" the brand name. Veterinarian recommend. It has enzymes that break down urine in carpets, on fabric, etc.
It's what the Charge Nurse/Director of a stepped up care facility always has cleaning services use who either cleaned apartments in an assisted living facility, or had her in house staff use when someone has passed away. It removes everything harmful to humans and smells like lavender or black cherry.
Mask, respirator preferably until every inch of that RV has been washed down.
Toss the wood, carpet, underlayment, anything thats absorbent.
Consider yourself chucked on the shoulder, hugged or whatever friendly gesture fits the bill😉👍

Do to over growth of Algae in streams or rivers. If you can use it in your state. Dishwasher soap is good for cleaning .Pour some in a bucket like cascade. Wear rubber gloves.

I love watching you restoring your coach. If I were you I would get another opinion from another RV repair shop about the propane tank and the heater. I have been restoring a 1988 Dolphin class A 34 footer for the last 5 years and I am just not sure about what you said that he told you. I am no expert, but I have never heard of those things he told you. BTW, please stop saying hot water heater. It's just a water heater. If the water was already hot you wouldn't need to heat it.😉

If you watch WD detailing. They found something that works on rat/mouse urine smell. They some how put a bowl with baking soda in the center console of a barn find car. Im not sure what else is added to it. But its left over night in a completely sealed vehicle. Mice/rats in a car is completely normal. I know you are frustrated that the seller didnt tell you about it. But its more common than you think. Every abandoned vehicle both on WD detailing and sleeperdude has a mice/rat infestation. I Know WD detailing tried an ozone cleaner but it didnt hardly remove the smell. But this new thing they found works so much better. So check it out. I cant remember which car it was. I wanna say it was a 60s car its with in a few of the most recent videos they posted. Sleeperdude just pressure washed the inside of the car. Which is not what you want. Rodent urine is very acidic. Its known for taking paint or clear coat off. And it causes metals to rust. If you want to treat the wood underneath on smell kilz paint or primer seals the wood and blocks the smell. Plus it prevents future rot incase of spills.
Im all for positivity. I want to help youtubers accomplish their goals. Dont be mad at the seller for his lack of reporting whats wrong with the vehicle. As long as it runs. The rest can be fixed. I think that is what you will expect with every rv you buy. No matter who or where you buy an rv if its used. Unless you buy it from a business. Just think positive thoughts. Be thankful that you bought one that runs and doesnt need alot of engine work. I believe you can make a neglected rv look beautiful for you and your daughter. Cant wait for the next video. 😊

Ok so we were duke as well I didn’t want to buy ours it was rusty and not taken care of. My partner wanted it against my advice. We have a 1996 ford coachman I had all the mechanical work done tires etc. I took out the propane tank and ordered a new one it took 2 years to get it I completely demo the whole van down to the metal walls and fiberglass top. Found some new windows the old one sealed shut. So I now have all new appliances and remodeling the entire van. So far I’m still adding framework and insulation stage . Found a lot of mouse stuff and rust and holes but I’m glad I did this so I get your frustration and feeling. I’m also excited about making it my own. But now I have it stored until summer. I’m leaving to go across country in January until summer. Best wishes and enjoy your project it will be worth it it in the end Jax
