More work than you bargained for, yet it will be so worth it in the end. As far as the microwave, we live in a fifth wheel RV full-time. This one does not have an oven, only a 3-burner stovetop. The microwave is a convection microwave. I absolutely love it! I use it for microwaving and as the oven.
So glad you found those leaks now, and that you have a great "sketchy Philippino" friend to help! Your friendship is with Isaac is something to treasure!

I have a Hallmark popup truck camper, so a much smaller rig with storage is at a premium. I was hesitant to get a microwave due to the space it requires. In the end I got a small one that my 2000 watt inverter can handle. Two years later I'm happy with the decision. When not using it to reheat premade meals it serves as the bread box.

I installed a nice microwave drawer that I got brand new in sealed box from a liquidation store for a steal!! It was normally $1,200 regular retail price that I got for $150 by shopping wisely. I have converted a retired greyhound bus into a really nice custom Coach and all of my fixtures are high end but spent very little because almost all of it came from the liquidation store. My suburban water heater is normally $600+ and I paid $75 for it and it was brand new in a sealed factory box. Rebuilding these vehicles into beautiful, comfortable homes does not have to break the bank or be a budget buster if your wise about how you shop!!
Now, this is just my opinion, but since you have a child with you, you will want a microwave for sure. You can do without, but it will make your life simpler if you keep one. I could easily do without one at 59 years old, but I’m not going too. They do simplify life more than we think or admit and it’s worth having a generator on board for any needs that pop up. I’ve got 30a & 50a shore power plug ins, a large 8.5kw Kohler generator that runs on propane, and solar. I will upgrade to a diesel generator at some point but it’s what I had for now and works great but if I needed a generator for daily use then the propane would get expensive quick. I believe in having redundant systems built in so no matter what happens, I can always have heat or a water pump or lights. I have lights on both 110v & lights on 12v. I have diesel, electric (both 220a & 12v), & propane heat. I will never be in a situation where I’m alive and won’t be able to have heat because power is out or not available, or out of fuel, etc. if I can’t have heat then I must be in the hospital or grave and don’t need it anymore. It’s worth it at this point to put your thinking cap on and figure out how to best build your rig to always have you covered for any situation. Your doing most of the work yourself so it won’t cost much more to be sure your covered in any situation

If you can bevel the inner and outer edges of the holes slightly, then tape the underside and epoxy fill the holes (maybe a small piece of loose fiberglass for the bigger one). Once it is filled and dry, the bevels prevent the patch from walking out or in. Make sure you paint it later (epoxy HATES UV sunlight).

You’re doing a great job. My recommendation is to gut the inside, including the upper cabinets and the rug on the wheel wells. That way you will have a clean start. You can then put in new carpet throughout. Design your own cabinets the way you want them, made out of the material. You might be able to determine how the mice/rats got in and seal that as well.

I’ve found the microwave to be super helpful even though I don’t use one at home. You can run a microwave with two 100Ah lithium batteries and a 2000w inverter.

Been fitting floors for over 15 years real wood flooring mostly, some laminate occasionally. Sharp knife in hand changing the blade very very often. Used multi tool very occasionally on carpet except when glued down Multi tool for cutting bottom door liners off plus skirting boards anything I needed to get behind like the kitchen units work tops. In short shape blades Stanley blades single use, not those cheap snap off ones

My camper just has a gas stove and combo fridge. I bring along a microwave and use it a lot. Flame free. You are doing great work!

Jaylena for almost 7 yrs, I've barely used my microwave. Potatoes live in there! 😊 I hardly ever am plugged in, preferring to save money by freedom camping, or called boondocking etc there.
The seller of this van I'm sure has done this sort of thing before. A special place in 🔥 for people like him.

We bought a brand new micro Minnie 2 years ago with no oven 3 burner stove and a convection microwave. 110 v tv. We took out the microwave and tv first thing. We have solar pkg that came with and I just bought a toaster oven we plug In outside to our generator. We watch our Apple tablet or cell phones for news and entertainment so why waste the space. I can warm anything up on the stove that I want. We didn’t want an oven inside because of the heat. We have a small charchol grill we use also. You are doing a great job. It’s always frightening tearing it up but it will soon start going back together and then you will feel better! It’s going to be beautiful!

You are blazing through the frustrating part, dealing with disappointment due to bad seller. Very soon this will become a direct, positive relationship with your new RV. I am learning so much from you about patching fiberglass exterior techniques which I need to use on my awesome 2005 Bigfoot class C

    RecPro®
RV Convection and Air Fryer Microwave combo and a hot plate, game changer. RV ovens never seem to cook evenly and temperature not easy to regulate.

Omg. Thank you! I'm over here using a damn box cutter trying to get my carpet out with the multi tool right on top of the counter. I didn't even think to use it! I have zero signs of mice, rats or rodents but I have to replace a lot of water damage all on driver side of my free to me RV. P.S you if you think that's a bad leak you should see how bad mine is! 😆

I know this is causing you a lot of extra work but there is a bright side. Most rv’s have a lot of wasted spaces in them. With a remodel you can get a floor plan that works perfectly for you and all the added storage you need. Along with it being more efficient for travel on or off road trips. 😊

Better you than me removing all that mouse stuff… yuk!! Those multi tools are GREAT, don’t be so quick to put it down, it’s capable of doing a whole lot of things. Also look at some of the other blade choices there are. It will cut nails, screws wood and a lot more. Very useful tool. Loving it girl, keep up the good work 😊
