So true. I have read that it doesn’t matter how much you exercise til you clean up your diet. You are proof. So glad to see you “showing up” for yourself, as I’m sure you do for your family and friends. Keep up the hard work.

Great point! I love walking and I burn about 400 calories an hour. But a snickers bar is 250 calories. Exercise as the main means of weight loss is futile which is why many people give up frustrated.
I am experimenting with carnivore OMAD currently and love it. They also have child watch at my gym. The kids love it and I can walk or exercise safely rain or shine.
    Great channel keep it up!

You are awesome, Laura! I’m a single mom but I stared off at the same heigh & weight as you did and I think I can catch up with you at some point this year 🤩. By summer would be so fabulous so I can have the energy to run around with my kiddo and put on any swim suit I want 🥳. But my kiddo will be stoked if I just have the energy to play with her. I appreciate the time and effort you really put into helping us see that it can be done with a regular ol’ parenting lifestyle. ♥️🥰🤗

That 5 pounds you gained the first week was water weight into your muscles from working out with weight lifting. I will gain about 8 pounds in 4-5 days when returning to the gym after time away from working out. The scale will tell you gained weight but your waist size will you otherwise, guaranteed.

I view exercise like washing dishes or flossing; I do it for the benefits, not for pleasure. I often enjoy my exercise, but the motivation rests in benefits. I walk 2-3 miles most days (outside), weights 2-3x a week. Exercise does so much for the brain and body beyond weight. Your videos will help many people.

Dean Riley I like your approach of exercising most days. I go to work 35 minutes early so that I can get in a 2 mile walk and I usually walk a mile at lunch with a coworker. This allows me to get my exercise in 5 days a week.

Last year at this time I weighed 293 lb. At this time I fluctuate between 263 and 270. My goal weight is 150 lb. I'm 5' 8.5" tall. For most of my life I was always skinny. In my mid-20s I started noticing weight creeping on but I could basically fast or cut back on certain foods, junk foods, and drop it right off. I had my first child at the age of 30 and gained about 40 lbs. Four years later I finally started losing that 40 pounds. Come to find out it was because I was pregnant again. I gained a total of 6 lb with my second son. I had morning sickness the whole 9 months. He weighed 7 lbs 13 oz when he was born. By the time he was three I was back down to my pre-pregnancy weight. A year later I got sick. Within the next 5 years I had 7 surgeries. For health reasons, I had a total hysterectomy at the age of 43 and it's been a battle ever since. Open next 15 years my weight kept creeping up a little every year until it reached 293 lb. I'm finally ready to do the work to get healthy again. Thank you for your videos. You are truly inspiring and so is your mom. 😊

Too true, you can't exercise off a cookie if you have boxes of Girl Guide cookies hanging off your hips.

I used to try to "outrun my fork" but since starting carnivore I've been walking my pup on the trails instead. I will pick the running back up once my body says too. Personally, I like kettlebell swings. Full body conditioning and HIIT all in one. Less than 30 minutes every other day and you're done. I'm using Tracy Reifkind's Swing book for my workout. I also usually get in a few walks in a week. I'm currently doing keto and intermittent fasting and have lost 60+ lbs. FWIW, I also have knee issues and kettlebell swings are easy on the knees.

Anyway, do you remember feeling up and down during your weight loss period? Sometimes I feel like I should be eating veggies and fruit for health sake. I don't, but I wonder.

Exercise helps mitochondrial health, burn excess carbs if any, release toxins in the form of sweat, boost circulation and muscle form, and helps bust stress. I've recently been diagnosed with Hashimotos thyroiditis and it was making me feel really horrible and lacking in motivation and very tired and low on energy and while I plan to get on meds after meeting my doctor she was unavailable for a while, so I just decided that I have to do something to change this and did a 20-25 min workout (jogging) and felt so much better! Felt like my old self. I figure I will need meds to control the condition (it's related to leaky gut and an immune system response to the food/ other particles entering the blood stream through the permeable gut lining), and eat as clean as I can (there are many inflammatory foods to avoid) but I figured I have to find ways to manage it better and as I mentioned I read exercise is good for mitochondrial health and as it helps remove toxins it supports gut health. I figure with years of damage it's unlikely that my gut will go back to 100% health, if it goes great, but that's unlikely, so have to bite the bullet, take the meds and work on other lifestyle factors. Overexercising isn't good and if you cut out the carbs, as you have, you don't have to crazy amounts of cardio. Sharing my Hashimotos story so that it may help someone else.

I do a hitt workout twice a week at the hydropool and do a seated workout every now and then with hand weights as I have mobility issues. But I'm hoping doing the carnivore way of eating will help my inflammation so I can do more "normal" workouts eventually as I used to be very active. I'm 50 now though and overweight with hypothyroid, type 2 diabetes and high inflammation. I've lost weight on Keto but feel I need to go stricter as I seem to react to certain plants unfortunately. I love my vegies, but they just dont seem to love me as I feel more inflamed when I eat them, not every vegie affects me in a negative way though.

It is 90% diet! I luckily am someone who loves to exercise. So people think that is why I am so fit and lean but it only a small part of it. I tell everyone it is nutrition. If I eat bad I can gain weight easy even if I workout everyday. So hard even for me. Maybe harder for me because I like to stay so lean at under 15% body fat as a female in her 40’s. Body Pump is my fave class too, closely followed by Xcore. There was an article this week where a non diet doctor set out to study "hunter gatherers" in africa and show everyone just how little exercise modern people do. One problem, he found out we burn the same amount. He now says that humans burn the same amount and isn't effected by exercise. If you exercise you don't burn more, you just redirect your energy from say the immune system to exercise.

Laura, thanks for your helpful insights and enthusiasm. I have only been on Carnivore for a week but already feel that this will be a long term life changer for me. If you see my comments, will you please address the following two questions.
    1. I am trying to lose 15 kilos (33 pounds) initially and wonder whether exercise will be critical to my success? You have told of losing 120 pounds without exercise and I really want to bed my eating habits down, which includes going off alcohol before I add another layer of 'stress' to my life.
    2. I have watched numerous youtube vids on what foods are acceptable on this diet and some say heavy cream and/or yoghurt are O.K. but others eschew anything except any type of meat and eggs. What are your thoughts on cream and yoghurt?

  • @Paganprincess1970
    @Paganprincess1970 4 роки тому +1

I started watching your videos in order, today. You have said a few things in which I can relate. Such as, (your wording was better) it is better for me to completely restrict something, such as nuts, than to try to moderate it. That is the reason Carnivore is more appealing than Keto. Also, is this video you said you are obedient. I too would rather have someone tell me what to do, or if I am signed up for a class I will go but if I go to the gym on my own I end up doing maybe 3 things before I lay on the Hydro massage bed. So, I am really enjoying your videos because you are relatable. I wonder though if you have tried Yoga? I get a better work out through a real yoga class than cardio classes and weight lifting classes and it helps your body release toxins that weight lifting alone cannot. I still lift weights but there is no substitute for a good yoga class.
