Yes, you are right. It is exactly as you suspect. lh3.googleusercontent.com/pw/AL9nZEWThHmJAjuHYoX4qHTooebQIp_ftALKtZR5ttnsOwH-eeJnp4lpZiFssRFBYq9CiVTyhp9wua_Q1gsVxOmeIgrwkNfOUgQO5hZWF2gZuLcnrGLOpUwxPZr1ifsn8VTc_qahuMM63tYliZ2WDOiFtM9f=w1470-h827-no?authuser=0 At a later point in time, I closed these holes. lh3.googleusercontent.com/pw/AL9nZEVLLVOvd90e3OIE_ZylH8kCar9P9IT4IAPw81Uq4irEgfqF9kQs618jgrPJ8ibtMxqR8K19o3pydwEORJ8NNJrnjHe3PXtgKEg0n7xpmU40zxF2MgleYQXS_PHvrDYUdN-cnmBtOc1_ySqx3eIZW6dT=w1470-h827-no?authuser=0 Photo journal of the successful construction of the canoe: goo.gl/photos/MWCVLV3hWnpxKiPd9
flo-mo you are such a hero! As you know, I had this happen to me before this one. The other ones that you have had better success with are true jewels of mans creation in watercraft.
Hi Johan, thank you for your kind words. The moment my build failed I was immediately thinking of you and your unfortunate experience with your own attempt of building a Gorewood canoe. Now I am more capable of relating to the frustration you must have gone through. On the other hand I will never forget about your spectacular solution to come to terms with the whole disastrous occurrence -- the ritualistic cremation of the sad remains ;-) If you are interested to see what I am up to right now, feel free to check out my insta: instagram.com/flo.mo_boats/
No mold required for this special building method. That's part of the fun if you are successful. More information: forum.woodenboat.com/showthread.php?207051-Flirting-with-disaster-build-of-a-revised-Gorewood-16-Canoe-no-happy-end
I wonder if steam bending the ply would work ! I guess you could try it with a scrap. You have some of that . Also Amazed that the shape looked so good ! I would different areas of the ply would bend different than others. Thinking a mold would help uniform the shape. Ifind your work very interesting !!!
Sux!!! Should of could have been super nice. Was you there when it self destructed or did it do this alone? I've prepped and finished stuff to come back into the shop and find it took a tumble in the floor. Sorry for your loss.
It happened right in front of me and I was not able to stop the cracks. For the second attempt to build this canoe I used a different kind of plywood and this time I was successful: forum.woodenboat.com/showthread.php?221858-Building-the-revised-Gorewood-16-Canoe-second-attempt
Better now than in the water? always thinking positively.
Looks like all the moisture left- pop
I would be curious to know if stress distrubution holes were drilled at the end of each dart. Can't quite make this out from the video.

Chit! Was that marine ply? Ouch in the wallet! Bummer
It's not as bad as it looks it's fixable.
I would like to see the mold, this hull came off! Curious why one side looked decent, and the other split soo bad ? Flawed plywood ?

Thinking foam, instead of plywood ?
1 стеклоткань , 2 эпоксидная смола --- 3 дня работы и будет okay...!
