Brings back memories of my old 2005 GS which was stolen and replaced with a 2006 ADV with assisted brakes and agree with everything you say in the video .

If you want to try an expensive crazy comfortable riding backpack, try the kreiga r35. I haven't found anything that compares to it.
The reason I've sold my 2004 gs after more than 10 years of "living together" was exactly this ABS module with the Servo assistance. After a failure, the replacement cost was over 2000€ and the repair cost about 1300€ plus 200€ dismounting/mounting cost in both cases.
The repair was possible only from an electronic company somewhere in South Germany which was the only one they are able to repair this specific ABS module with 2 years warranty.
If I had the next generation ABS module (2-3 years after) the same repair would cost me 350€.
After that I said that's enough, I want a divorce.
After a few months a married her younger sister (LC) for revenge.

@@dusanjanicijevic5979 No. It was not failed while riding. But even if it was so, the ABS is not responsible for the braking. It is responsible to not blocking the wheels while you braking.
The braking funktion was not failed because of the ABS failure.

Hi Shawn and Kelly, nice video as usual. If the older boxer engines are the K2X and K5X, what's the new shift cam engine known as? Greetings from Wales UK.
I got one this year with less than 2000 miles. Replaced the seat with a Sargent. Transmission is clunky but you get used to it.
You need to change gears really fast,that's what solved the clunking on mine

@@TheSmoaksVlogs - It's gonna be a wet one for the most part. I did finally find a break in the weather yesterday to install my TAB Performance mufflers. I like the sound much better than stock. Just enough of a deep, low rumble to sound proper like a big V-Twin should, IMO. It's got just a bit of popping on decel, but nothing like the Cobra pipe on my V-Star, and it ran fine. So I'm happy with it. Now to find the time to add Rox 2" risers for a bit more pull back. ;)

I just bought a 2006 R1200GS with the ABS system you mentioned. Has 32k been well taken care of and I sure hope it holds up.
Couldn’t afford those new ones so will see. North of you in Puyallup.

You just reminded me, I also need a new backpack. The zippers died on mine, I may pass on the Klim though! I was wondering about that power brake set up on that Beemer, if the pump died and with no new -old parts left, could you convert the braking system to something a little simpler? Or I suppose there'd be some company selling reconditioned pump units.
I'm sure they could they could be converted, but I haven't seen or heard of it being done. There are companies that can rebuild the ABS pumps...

in the Netherland you can let rebuild the abs unit for a lot less than a new onw about € 800.- and they improve them also
