Danielle, this is five years ago, but I always sew a double thread. I just usually put it through and then not the very end a few times and then when I pull it through, I’m sewing with two and I don’t have to worry about the thread falling off the needle, which is what happens to me when I do so like they did in the video, pull on something that was a little harder because I’m pulling more pieces of thread through pulling four pieces through now and so bulky the needle to get through it off the thread so that I thread the needle and I hate doing that as much as I hate nodding and prefer to do this, I hate threatening that needle 10 times Even more
Hi, I have seen this before but haven't tried it out yet. What happens if you don't need to sew with the doubled thread, ie embroidery with 2 or 3 strands, don't want to become 4 or 6 - what happens with the extra thread? When I'm embroidering I start be just leaving a short tail (no knot) i ensure that it lies in the direction i am stitching and ensure that the first few stitches at the back go over the tail to enclose it.
This technique would only work if you are using two threads. I have seen your short tail technique used before and it would be a great solution if you are only using one thread.
Where was it dangling? Do you mean the thread that’s pulled through the needle and part of it just hang in there because that’s just kind of make sure that you don’t pull the needle off the thread other than that everything was taut
... or a kind of a knot done a different way. I really like this approach. Clever and ends up secure and neat at the same time. Thanks.
You know what I love about embroidery.. all the little tricks and hacks to make life easier.
This is amazing I always take at least 10 minutes knotting it so this is so usefull
This is the BEST and easiest video I found!
I despise mending things but refuse to throw something out that just needs a few stitches. This, YOU, oh you've saved my sanity! 😯❤️
Thank you so much. I'm trying to fix the strap on my snow pants. This was incredibly helpful
Beautiful, simple, fast tutorial! Thank you!
I’ve been looking for this type of tutorial for months, thank you
Excellent! Glad I could help 😊
dope vid, super helpful and saved alot of time
Brilliant idea
Nothing is obvious to an elderly male . This makes sense and it's obvious. Thanks.
Excellent! It does leave your thread doubled so you would need to take that into account too, when using more or less than 2 threads?
Yes, true!
@@EasySewing4Beginners How do I finish a knot?

Hello thanks for the vid, any help wit not having to knot at the END of sewing something ?
Life saver! What if you use more than 2strands?

Ornella Day I had the same query! Great for 2 threads but what about three etc? I do mine like you do! Elizabeth

Excellent 🙌🏼 Thank You
That’s sooo coool!! TY
Cool, thanks.
well done
Is this secure enough for a hand towel that will be washed very frequently
Tremendous
Better idea
Cool😉
genius
Now how do I end the stitch?
But there will be a knot when the thread ends. Right?
👌👌😍😍❤
so it's normal to leave one end just not tied off at all dangling there? how weird.

Except that is a knot, called a girth hitch/larks head/ cow hitch
Thank you for the clarification 😊
My hand sewing is terrible! I can never sew straight. 🙈🙈
Im here because I forgot how to start lol😂
Always happy to help. There’s definitely more than one way to start but this method gives you a strong start and a neat backing to your embroidery 👌🏼
Can this be done without doubling up the string in any way?
