Isn't there a to save him? I mean, there was a ladder in the Midway... But i don't know If you can get in there repair the "terminal" and save Royal or somthing Like that ? :/ But its really sad If you Know the backstory *~*
When you play vs fitzroy on the first time u see him puting a girls face..that's how he remember her love..then you see a horrible face like skull...that's how she goes after he wanted her to be inmortal...deformed!..then you need to destroy his brain to make him forget about that..and dies.
The only thig i hate on this boss fight is the way to him. Don´t undertsand why there is no checkpoint before the boss. Just like they did with all the other Boss Fights in the game. Now it´s feeling like Trials & Error.
Black the void guy The twin guards fight had a save point right above the hidden passage. Every other boss fight had a save point close by! Just this one in particular demands you swim down to redo.
You probably already found out by now, but you have to do a hidden side quest for this boss to appear. I can't remember where it starts but you have to find a certain woman 4-5 times in secret rooms all over the world
Underfell Papyrus Mother (and others of White hair) are perfect syncronizations with Ivory Oil, Fitzroy went beyond that and gained eternity, he is more powerful, but now is in a state of decay because his mind could not resist living so long and his tragedy broke him. Also, look at his clothes, they are antique.

Getting killed by the orbiting projectile on the last phase would suck.
It sure would! Good thing that totally, definitely never happened while I was trying to record this!
During the last phase I found it easier to stand underneath the brain thing and shoot upwards.

Oh, it's a good boss. But why is there no save point in the deep waters?! Having to swim back after I die is way too annoying and a lot to ask.
