  • These are some old 8mm movies taken by Bill Dredge in the 1960's of some passenger trains around the Minneapolis St. Paul MN area.

Memories of the past. Most appreciated. I spent considerable time at St Paul Union Station in the early 1960s.

Minneapolis truly lost a great asset when the Great Northern Depot was torn down in 1978. If only they had the foresight to keep it standing, it may have gone full circle to be a busy train depot for all the new commuter rail lines being proposed.

I always thought it was an ugly building compared to SPUD. When it comes to having a memorable departure or arrival the Milwaukee Road station wins hands down.
