@@nestguatemala6254 i could not imagine Aurelie Dupont like Sylvie in this PDD either. She has too much Innate elegance, regal bearing, great class. You either have it or not. Anybody enlighten me why some dancers sound like wooden blocks hitting a wooden floor & others are silent? Is that the dancer, the floor, the shoes, the sound system, what IS it? Not so much here but in some cases I do notice it a lot.
it depends on a few factors actually. 1) dancers who have a unique ability to technically finesse their landing from jumps will naturally make less noise when landing from big jumps, & that depends on the person, the way that their bodies (feet, ankles, knees, legs, hips, & torso, etc.) are constructed, their mastery of the physics involved in defying gravity on the descent back down to earth, etc. 2) the construction of the floor / stage, as floors that have specific materials in their constructions will absorb or create more sound as the weight absorption creates the physical displacement of energy that results in the noise we hear- wooden floors will tend to resonate more than other materials, for example. harder floors with less give / flexibility will generally tend to absorb the sounds more, & floors with air space built in for cushioning to make the landings less stressful for dancers will tend to echo more loudly, as the air will carry the sounds waves more effectively than solid substances, & some floor coverings &/or surfaces may muffle the sound more or less effectively as well. 3) the pointe shoes that the ballerinas dancing on toe wear have wooden or synthetic blocks in the toe which creates sounds when the toe blocks (or box) strikes the floor with a certain amount of force & energy- you can hear this sound even as ballerinas walk in a dance studio or on a stage. 4) if a stage is mic'ed (has microphones set up on or near the floor), the sound of jumps being landed may be amplified. 5) the natural resonance capacity of the space the stage is in (the auditorium or theater) may also amplify the sound if the space is very 'live' & tends to echo & resonate sounds effectively. these are a few of the factors that may be involved.
Re Sylvie's hair: really, the whole style looks Goth, which I don't find appealing for this ballet. They were also coached a little differently, so some steps are more accented and less lyrical, although both smile happily for a lot of the ballet. Also looking at her extensions and thinking Zhakarova gets comments about her extensions being too high. Has anyone ever criticized Sylvie for her stunning extensions? Goth or not, always a treat. Wish I could have seen her live.
I agree the Goth style, including the dress, there Is nothing esthetic in it for such a beautiful, elegant, regal ballet. But She Is a great dancer, one of the best ever. She was so lovely in the video with M.Legris, only 19, super elegant, creme color elegant costume, pure poetry in an French palace.
@@karennoble1168 maybe people should just shut up about how she looks and focus on her dancing. I don't see any complaints about Hilaire's hair. Such a stupic double standard.
@@MsDidi38 That's because Laurent's hair was normal while Sylvie wasn't, at least in this context of a classic pas de deux. Are you trying to be stupid, or just aggressive, bitch? It's you who need to shut up.
I think it is just known as Grand Pas Classique. I believe Victor Gsovsky choreographed it to music by Daniel Auber's for Yvette Chauviré and Vladimir Skouratoff in 1949. Guillem was coached in it by Chauviré herself. But I could be wrong...
It is confusing because 'grand pas classique' (or just 'grand pas') is also a general term for a pas de deux, sometimes performed with members of the corps de ballet providing a backdrop, which usually displays the lead dancers' technical strength (rather than character dancing), so many full length ballets include a 'grand pas classique' - but this pas de deux is THE Grand Pas Classique. :)
