Ford Edge Vignale First Drive: Worth The Money?

Ford's Vignale range offers more luxury as well as a more personal buying experience, a concierge service, plus you even get free car washes for your sparkly new model.
On paper, this looks very tempting, but like anything in life, there is a price. For example, the Edge Vignale tested here is over £45,000. Nope, that is not a typo. The Vignale trim is also available on the Kuga, S-Max, Mondeo, and the all-new Fiesta.
Standard features in the Edge version include extended leather, navigation, heated seats, 20" alloys, Sony stereo system, climate control as well as much more.
It's available with two engines, both of which are a 2.0 litre diesel that comes in two power outputs - 178bhp and 207bhp. The lesser comes with a 6-speed manual gearbox, whereas the more poweful unit (tested here) comes with Ford's Powershift auto.
So then, is the Edge Vignale able to convince that the Vignale badge is one worth having? Watch this and find out.

Hello, and thank you for watching! Apologies for the extended waffling at the start of the video, I really wanted to go through what the Vignale was all about before I set off on the road. The cost of the Ford Edge Vignale is continually being compared with its Jag and German rivals. In reality this car can be leased on a PCP scheme at literally half the cost of those other vehicles. Currently Ford are offering 0% APR and massive discounts are also available ( I have been offered 13%). It is important to compare like with like and when all of the features of this car are added onto say a Jag F Pace the Edge definitely has the Edge!
Haha, loving the pun Richard, good work! I can see where you are coming from in regards to a finance perspective, but I'd still rather have something that is designed to premium in the first place, rather than something that has been dressed up somewhat.
That may sound harsh to Ford, and I commend the brand for trying to branch out in this part of the market, but I just don't think it's overly convincing. I also recently drove the F-Pace, so feel free to check that video out.

An X3 starts at about the £40,000 mark as well but it would not be as spacious nor would its interior be as nice at that price point.
Put all the bells and whistles on an X3 and it would be nicer but it will cost you for the pleasure of doing so.
Being American, this suv is what we call mid size. It's not big at all. 😂

Ok thanks for the reply, but in my opinion 27 is young and nieve, I see kids of your age racing around in Audi and bmw, also VW's all the time, driving like maniacs, but your probably not like that, so calling you *a* idiot was probably over the top, I'm just sick to death of people criticising this car, by the way which I think is a fantastic vehicle, and if you look at the top specs of those cars, and especially the SUVs, there priced considerably more, Hope my grammar is ok.
Love the stitched leather dashboard, usa gets the option of 330 horsepower ecoboost v6 . Love my Edge sport. It gets all the top options available.
Not sure what the exchange rate is. But your looking at $50,000 plus in USA. But we dont get that same leather stitched dash . Its amazing looking. 👍

As always Andrew, thanks for watching. Hmm, I'm not actually sure how well it will fare on the use market if I'm going to be honest. The Edge is a bit of an odd one - it's an American-inspired product and the size of it highlights that. So I think it's a bit of a niche buy.
That's not to say it's a bad car, I just can;t imagine the appeal for the Edge being as large as the car itself. Let's put it this way, I rarely see one one the road.
An acquired taste and not for the faint hearted :-)
Yes, especially with those chrome wheels! Apart from the wheels though, I do rather like the exterior styling.
You’re right! We’ve just bought a 4 year old Vignales with 20K miles and all the options. It’s like new inside and out. Neighbours think its a brand new car! Love the car. It has everything Ford could have fitted at the time. Ride is a bit harsh compared to my old Range Rover P38 but it’s stable and drives well.
