+txaggie95 That is very cool. Encourage your son to learn this program inside out. You can make some decent money doing professional layouts with InDesign. TLG
Tony...OUTSTANDING VIDEO! I accidentally ran across InDesign CS5 on our network and loaded it on my PC because I have a need to create a document with columns and pics. At first...I said forget it because InDesign was taking too long for me to click around and teach myself. I found your video and learned exactly what I needed in less than 15 minutes! FANTASTIC JOB! Thanks so much!!!
Every video I see regarding InDesign, is like another puzzle piece coming together. Each one helps clarify what I didn't understand before. And I think, Ya, I can do this.
Just want to say thank you so much for a GREAT tutorial. I'm guessing that the majority of instructors would cringe at the notion of using your finger to point at various parts of the screen, but Brother, that is exactly what made this tutorial the best I've ever experienced. FINALLY something I can follow with confidence... cursor, finger pointing and DETAILED verbal explanation. You, my friend, are awesome. Thanks a bunch.
I will have to check out this video later when I'm home. I just paid someone $80 from Craigslist for nothing, I can't remember nothing he told me, he was all over the place. Thanks for taking time out to do this and other videos that you've done. Based on the comments I'm pretty sure this will be ideal for my new newspaper business venture... Keep up the good works..
Hope it does help Michael. I've been around the block a time or two, and taught a few people to use ID and other Adobe software. If you have any questions let me know and I'll try to answer. TLG
That's pretty much normal. I bought Creative Suite 6 for dummies and I was a dummy for buying it. Detail is very important otherwise roadblock keep popping up like an arcade wackamo game.
Very good ! I`m a new user in inDesign and have a lot to learn !! will certainly watch more of your lessons. Explanation and visual examples provided is very good for rookie user like me.
Thoroughly enjoyed this video. You are awesome. This is exactly what I need since I know nothing about InDesign. This video is definitely for the beginners.
Excellent Job man. I had a vague idea of how to use this program, but your tutorial brought it home. I feel really comfortable laying out my chapter's newsletter. Thanks.
Awesome that I can help. Let me know if you have any major questions going forward and I'll make a follow-up vid. I meant to go more in-depth with the indesign training - but got side-tracked. I may do some digging deeper vids soon. Thanks for watching, and keep checking my channel for more.TLG
+Shaz Young Really glad I could help Shaz. There's a link to an updated version in the description if you ever care to refer to it as well. Good luck with InDesign! TLG
Being 68 years old, starting new adventure, some people knows a lot, but they do not know how to teach... I am glad I have visited your video, now I have new challenges, you have 712 videos I am sure I will check it out most of them. THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME AND EFFORT. HAVE A WONDERFUL DAY!!!. By the way, I am trying to crate a weekly DIGITAL NEWS LETTER, can you suggest good video.
Denis - are you going to try to email your newsletter, or send people links to it? Thanks for the compliment on my video. I try to do a tutorial for software every week, but a lot of my channel is just miscellaneous stuff. Hope you enjoy the variety.
Tony Lee Glenn Hi, Thank you for your reply. I am planning to publish online a magazine style monthly newsletter, (10-14 pages). Members will go to website, register and pay $1.00 per downloading, read it online, download to their computers or Tablets. The website under construction, Software Adobe Muse,(for me it is easy to learn, no codes:) I have InDesign CC, Adobe Muse CC, Illustrator and Photoshop. I have checked in UA-cam, so far no luck to see good TEACHER. Any suggestions. Take care and have a nice day, Denis PS. Your dog looks disappointed by you guys, having a bath:) I love animals!!!
Great video to start with ID, although a bit hard to follow as a non native English speaker. But as I know Photoshop a bit, your video was exactly what I was looking for. Thanks a lot !
Thank you so much for putting such a wonderful effort specially for other people. I really appreciate it the way you have explained everything in details. I'm very much new to Indesing and this has helped me in a big way.
Muhammad Ilyas Really glad I could help. I'm planning an updated set of lessons for InDesign CC 2015. Going to try to teach 90% of what I know in just 1 hour of lessons. Look for these lessons in coming weeks. Thanks Muhammad! TLG
That's would be brilliant effort ..... bcoz I'm totally new to indesign I don't know the difference of cc and cs. I know I am asking childish type of question I hope you'll not mind it.
Muhammad Ilyas No such thing as a childish question. It's an involved program, but very powerful and cool. I'll be glad to help with any of your questions.
Thank you. Thank you. This is exactly the type of InDesign video I need. I am studying Developing Digital Documents and we are using Illustrator and InDesign. I have viewed lots of videos and this is by far the best. Thank you. Thank you. Do you have a video like this one for Illustrator which is super simple and not cluttered with lots of detail?
+Mary Doss I've always wanted to do one with illustrator but haven't gotten around to it. I have been using Adobe illustrator since 1995. So I probably would be pretty good at doing a tutorial for it. I'll try to post one soon and send it to you.
I really enjoyed this video (and the Southern accent)! I just got InDesign CC (Nov 2017). Are there any big changes I should be aware of? Do you have a video for creating "facing pages" (e.g., how you'd create headers/footers)?
I haven't done such a video Laurie, but would love to do a tutorial on Master pages for headers, footers, pagination, etc. Thanks for the suggestion. I'll try to make that happen soon. There have been improvements and upgrades to ID, but nothing significantly beyond what you see on the topics in this tutorial. I just need to get busy and share a few more vids to bring everything up to date here. Thanks so much for commenting and asking great questions. TLG
I am creating a family newspaper. My brother has a license with indesign with two computers permission. After creating my document and sent it to him, his computer would not accept 3 of my fonts therefore his document looks different from mine. How can he get the same fonts that I use?
You have to change your preview to high quality, otherwise they will look that way to save screen redraw time. Goto View - Display Performance - High Quality. Everything will look beautiful, but it might take longer dragging around if zoomed in.
Wow... This is full InDesign tutorial in 30mins... I love this
Son and I completed his 7th Grade History project of creating a Colonial Newspaper with the help of this video. Sharing is caring....much appreciated.
+txaggie95 That is very cool. Encourage your son to learn this program inside out. You can make some decent money doing professional layouts with InDesign. TLG
I've watched a few introductions to ID and although some are technically more polished this is actually the most useful. Many thanks.
My favourite UA-cam instructor for all things Adobe is David A. Cox.
Check his channel out.
Thank you Tony, I have to say your presentation is much better than my teacher's.
So glad you liked it. I try to take it slow and easy and make everything as simple as I can. This is a nice compliment from you.

This is the only video I am going to use to learn InDesign. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and expertise to someone who is software illiterate.
I love the way you explained the shortcuts which most have not assisted with that. Thanks!
thanks for getting to the point quickly without waffling or getting off topic.

Thanks Tony...that was far better than any of the InDesign tutorials.
Just a big THANK YOU! I've fiddled with this program for years and now I feel so much more confident after viewing this lesson!!
Really glad it helped Amy.
Bro! you are the best ever to teach in design so simple. i went through host of other tutorials but nothing i got out of them. way to go! thank you.
Really cool that you liked that my friend! Thanks for the kind comment.

He'll have to obtain the fonts and install them. Another alternative is that you make sure the fonts you use are the same ones he has.
Does it help to embed the fonts?
I like it, do some more lol @22:30
i pasted pictures. but they are pixelated. i even converted them into tiff files and tried jpg with 300 resolution. they are still pixelated

I too despise Pockas.
I like how you talk...
great video Let's build each other up xo
