In Spanish we solve the ‘ng’ sound quite easily, with our ñ.
I just love her mannerisms and light sense of humor. 😎😎 Best French teacher, ever.

Bonjour Dylane et comment allez vous! In this lesson you discuss the pronunciation of n, gn [ɲ], ng [ŋ] with different examples. Also, you discuss the very difficult pronunciation of gn [ɲ] & ng [ŋ] in a very simple and easy way. We are very grateful to your effort. Merci beaucoup pour votre Lesson.

I'm so glad I know Spanish as well because the pronoucation of GN is the same as Ñ. So it makes it easier to remember, English on the other hand doesn't have the sound.

7:40 This sound is present in Russian language 'Нь' as well as in Portuguese 'Nh' and in Spanish 'ñ'
    It's easy to pronounce 🌹🌹

Quick question - when I look up the IPA for "baignoire" it shows me the new n with the tail vs. the normal N. Why is this?

It's the same as Champignon. Basically it's like adding a i after the N to make the flow easier to pronounce :)

Do you pronounce the last 'N' in Liason? or the last 'N' in Champignon? Compagnon, Chandon?

I seem to recall (from my schoolboy French) that "un smoking" translates as "a dinner jacket", not "a smoking". 🙂

All the glamor of french language is hidden in these nasty difficult pronunciations!
But I am acing it, by slowly absorbing it drop by drop.

    I guess
    ɲ for j and vowels
    ŋ for k/c and g
    n for t , d , ch/c
    m for b and p
    With exceptional cases
    Am I correct madam?

No not yet. But to be honest it wouldn't change anything for me. I work from home and besides grocery shopping and walking my dog, I haven't done anything since March 🙂

@@TheperfectfrenchwithDylane Interesting. Are most of your friends and family dead from covid/flu like symptoms ? Everyone I know is still alive. I've gone out almost every day for the past 10 months and haven't seen even one person coughing up a storm and passing out in Walmart, Costco or other large stores with lots of people. Yet the media and government would have people believe that it is a horror movie out there. And supposedly several Canadian politicians were caught traveling abroad recently when they are telling everyone else not to go anywhere because it's such a serious flu apocalypse outside.

I do know a lot of people who got it. I am not a doctor or a scientist but people aren't supposed to drop like flies, symptoms take time to develop. I just do what I think is right in my opinion. The fact that there is a new variant of the virus is not a surprise to me considering how some people don't care about it. At the end of the day, people make their own decisions, and mine is to do everything I can to not spread it to people at risk.

@@TheperfectfrenchwithDylane In 10 months of this you would think there would be people who got the virus and felt reasonably ok when they woke up so went out to work or run errands, but then started having coughing fits, trouble breathing , and fever to the point where everyone would see and call and ambulance. If this has happened in the past 10 months in Canada it most likely extremely rare. That's the other thing. You would hear ambulances 24/7 taking the covid people who can't breathe from their homes to hospitals. This just isn't happening where I live. And it certainly doesn't justify a curfew from 8pm to 5am. The virus is so dangerous but not during the day when people are together at big box stores or in BLM protests. :-)
