Granted it's not a fun situation for him to be in even if you suppose he knew nothing about the cheating scheme, he still should have followed the script he gave almost 100%. That is the point not that David Sampson cannot do entertaining voices.

However, it seemed Crane had plenty of time to consider that he was going to be asked about the cheating scandal. To preface things with "I will only talk about baseball" and hope that will dissuade questions on the topic of cheating by his team IN BASEBALL was an ill-advised strategy. And then to simply evade the press...Are you an Astros fan? because if so I can understand your reaction; if not, I can't relate.
So...the only thing we know for sure after watching this vid is that David Sampson absolutely CAN NOT mimic or create a voice other than his own.

Not going to happen. They’ve never did it to the Yankees that cheated or other World Series teams that did it. Best way to hit them is by fines and draft picks and other means that makes them pay for years to come. This is coming from one that was an Astros Fan.

Been a Stros fan my whole life. This has shook me to the bone. I’m so pissed about the silence and the used hurricane Harvey to cover up the cheating. My fan hood is on the line not just baseball but all sports. It doesn’t look good though. This scandal has made me lose hope in all sports. I’ll never give a sports team a part of me. It sucks because everyday it’s eating at me like cavity. Just sucks balls at this time.

First of all Jim Crane would need a lawyer before he talks to the media.
If you’re an owner, you’re either a multi-millionaire or perhaps a billionaire. They usually have lawyers on retainer, most likely for personal & most likely a legal department for the entire Astros team. Not an excuse.
So, don't do a sleazy thing like security up and ignore the fans/reporters that you owe answers to. Instead, do a sleazy thing like, find someone to throw all the blame on and lie to the media, the fans, and the other owners. Great advice.

Everyone saying the Astros need to get hit hard, I agree as an Astros fan. But don’t be naive to think it’s only the Astros. If the Astros get hit hard it wouldn’t surprise me if they start outing other teams. The commissioner is afraid to look any further than the Astros for the sake of reputation
The Astros were the team in the WS, not the other teams. If MLB decides to really nail them hopefully other teams will think twice before cheating. Especially at this magnitude of which the Astros are being accused of

As now a Former Astros fan. Will be looking at other teams to Root for in the 2020 season. I have defended this time for years on being not who I thought they would be. I’m very disappointed. Not just for me, but my 7 year old son who was a big fan of them. Want to set the example of not supporting one that cheats to like this. We understand that others steal signs by not the use of electronic devices or technology devices. As for now, getting rid of all my Astros stuff for a small amount. One is an Astros Jersey that has the World Series Logo that I feel was never deserved. If this makes me a fair weather fan or never was a fan so be it. I’d rather root for one that shows the love of the game and not take advantage of what they did.

A principled stance that I have to applaud! I am a Yankees fan and would be pissed and heartbroken , seriously, if I found out Yanks had such a system going (I since have heard they 'd used the bullpen phones in a way they were not supposed to - presumably something like the Astros but less sophisticated and long-running). But I think I would have a hard time simply changing to another team, though at some level I would know I should.
David Evans I think on more of the lines is how most of us got caught up how the changed from 2016 to 2017. Looking back now, something’s do make sense. But what they did goes way beyond Baseball. It’s almost like fraud. For the Yankees, they should of faced the Nats.

Actually, if you read the statements from the media who THERE for the meetings - the officers were hired by the hotel / conference center for all the owners. They sensed that the owner of the Astros did not want to talk therefore, stepped in and led him to the room where the meeting was held. They were NOT officers of the Astros. And as reporters getting information wrong, it's no wonder people don't want to speak with you guys anymore.

Everyone must live up to their mistakes and a ban from baseball for the ones involved as masterminds, Cora Beltran and Astro manager would be proper punishment. As for owner, loss of championship, series funds and a substantial fine are scratching the surface. They cheated us all who felt sports are played without cheating. The ban for the three culprits is because they sought to cheat not just their opponents but everyone, anyone who felt they won on their own merit and had to resort to cheating the fans of all teams over the three seasons...

Its embarrassing and should've never happened, regardless of whether true or not. I'm with the majority's thought of yes they did, but I doubt MLB will do enough to please everyone though.
True, what gets me is, ok, u figured out the sign for a curve, slider, etc...how do u know if it's going over the plate? High inside, In the dirt?... Plus the MLBPA is gonna protect the players til the end.
@@slowmo338 You still have to hit the ball; you still have to figure out location but knowing what pitch is coming or even knowing that it will either be a heater or an off-speed pitch gives professional hitters an insanely great advantage. It also quite likely gives them added confidence too. It is like letting Kramer (a grown man) have karate matches with little kids, only it was insidiously hidden.

I hope this is not true. If it's true, and anyone who participated in this should now be out of baseball. If the owner is guilty of this, he loses his franchise, and their championship should be taken away. This goes deep into American culture. Teams from all over the world participated in the Little League World series. Look what this has done. These young men look up to these guys. I will end this by saying, I hope this is not true.
