@@ThriftALife oh yea, 100%. It’s a lot of work depending on what you want them to do. Average wage varies state by state so it is a tough question for sure, plus you could do something like a bonus for every x amount of listing per hour to keep them motivated to list faster.
I’ve been considering hiring a person to take my photos. I think $2 per item is reasonable with at least 10 pictures.

You really should brush up on these brands because single pieces can be worth hundreds/thousands and being in Cali you're odds of finding them are much higher than most people. His channel name is just his name.

Matt, I think you and any resellers who do What Not are so brave. I am not comfortable on video and would be horrible on a live reselling channel. Trying something new is hard for some of us old timers. Hope the book channel keeps producing and you find the right groove for the rest. I have learned tons from watching you and have missed your west coast "whats cool" videos.

I was having neck pain and upper back pain (Not Chronic) but for weeks, I realized that coupling my laptop work looking slightly down listing on eBay( other photo work ect), and sleeping with my pillow were giving me a lot of pain. So I start sleeping with no pillow but a soft travel neck wrap and my pain stopped. I know you've probably exhausted all your options for getting rid of or improving your pain but I thought I would put it out there. I like your channel and thanks for all the hard work to help other resellers.
I've developed a better eye for men's clothing, thanks to you. Fishing shirts especially, but many brands on my BOLO list now, a few cool finds and better yet some good sales (eBay). Thanks for all you do, especially like your straight forward no BS style. Ignore the haters. You're far above them.
I am with you. I am scaling back to just eBay. Posh and Mercari are not producing for me. Did not venture into WhatNot. I am not an early adopter😂😂😂

Every time I watch one of your videos I crack up laughing- “I hate finding the stuff and losing the stuff” I can relate! I too use a bin system for my eBay stuff, at first I was losing stuff constantly, then I went to a color coding method, now I take photos bag the stuff then choose a color for the day, write the date on it and a code number of what I paid and code number of what I expect to get like (Nov 1 - J. Jill sweater medium 5/30 BLUE) and I write this code into the listing,
then I throw it in a bin with a blue sticker on it. And it works I don’t lose things anymore and I know what date I cataloged it, how much I paid for it and what I want to get for it. And it’s kind of cool checking the numbers once the item sells.

I’ve been reselling on Posh for 6 years and they have been junk for me since the beginning of the year and Live selling on Posh is a joke really. I watched one the other day and she was drinking coffee and pouring paint on a canvas 🧐 I truly think Posh shows are going the ruin the app even further. I’m glad I started crossposting to Ebay last year, it’s been my saving Grace.
I have had the exact experience and started cross listing to eBay in January. So glad I did that.
I started cross listing in the spring when everyone was going out their minds with the algorithm change. I’m glad I did because these posh lives are killing business.
Posh Live has killed my already deathbed Posh Sales. I have no desire to be a HSN salesperson. I block every single person doing PoshLive as soon as they pop up but they never stop popping up all day. It’s maddening.

DUDE!!!!!! I would DIE if I found Rick Owens. He is an incredible designer and super expensive. He's American, but he sells his stuff internationally. He is uber expensive and if you watch any "what are you wearing" type of video for NYC they are almost always wearing Rick Owens. I would honestly keep the shorts or anything from him before selling it.

I would recommend the inventory system daily refinement uses when he sold on ebay. It has made shipping and finding items a 30 min job and took so much stress away. Only issue is the upfront work of labeling it and bagging it but I would rather do that then spend 2 hours looking for a piece of clothing
I second this- I avoided doing it for the longest time but I’m so glad I finally did. Shipping used to stress me out because of my disorganization but now I can do it mid afternoon and get it out before the end of the day.
I got the extra long bankers boxes and can fit 25 items in each with the numbers sticking out.
The inventory system and buying a Rollo printer are things I wish I would have done way sooner to save me time.

I have made so much money from the goodwill bins but I do not sell clothing. I don’t have the nerves to set and go through 1000 items. I have a yard sale on weekends on top of online sales. I can pay 20 bucks for an entire cart full at goodwill outlet and turn around a make 500 in my yard sale. ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Matt - I also have chronic neck and back pain. Would be very interested in a series on ergonomics of reselling. I wonder if there’s a physical therapist somewhere that would be interested in a niche.
Chemical Guys makes car detailing products. I use their products on my car. They do sell some apparel on their website but they primarily sell car cleaning products. They’re based out of Southern California.

My Posh sales have slowed since they started the live sales. I do think the sales will come back though.

One thing I started to notice not just on posh but it seems like on everything even if your stuff is priced 40% below market value people are still not going to buy it unless you cut them a deal which is absurd and this is now a critical problem for me stuff 25 40% under market they still want an extra $5 off I don't understand
I really admire your willingness to try new things and incorporate them into your business model. It is extremely helpful for me as well as I am constantly thinking about ways to improve my small business. I mentioned this in the comments of another video, but I think you’d be very successful doing pallets. I am thinking of doing that myself but need to get an EIN. I’ve also found that sourcing on whatnot has been a game changer. The cost of goods is often higher, but it sure beats spending two hours at a thrift store and walking out with one or two pieces. Really appreciate your content. Thanks.

I agree that Poshmark sales have dramatically dropped since they changed the algorithm. And changing it back has made little difference. Now with the live sales, my sales have slowed even more.

Ever since Poshmark introduced the Posh Live my sales tanked! I watched a few Posh Live and it’s so pathetic. Most auction starts at $3-5 and ends up sold for a mere $7 - 12 😢. I’m thinking of quitting and going to Mercari

I just signed up and still learning the setup..but, promising! I feel somewhat skeptical of the free-ness...but I'll give it a go😏

Whatnot has been slowing down a lot for us as well. We did huge July-Sept, and sales and viewership in Oct/Nov have just tanked. Also focusing on eBay now.

Hi Matt, Jim and Melissa in NC. I, Jim, have not been watching 'the news' for quite some time now as all I do is source and list. Anyway, we began on ebay in July of 2021. In November of '21, we had maybe 3-400 listings. In November of '22, we had 1,800 listings. Our November '22 sales were down 73% from Nov '21. Maybe I suck. Maybe my prices are ridiculous. Maybe shoppers are pulling in their horns in a shocking way. Thoughts? Anyone? Bueller?
As an aside Madewell is driving me insane lately. I had to basically give away a pair of brand new Madewell size 27T jeans (like 2021). Wayyyy too saturated. I’m at the point where I’m just leaving it behind at the bins even. Everlane jeans have proven far more reliable bread and butter. MW= played the f out (🙊)

Love your response to the haters. Just saw you first time last week 1-2023. I first watched your clothing photo post because my suit colors change when using my Nikon Coolpix P-900. I use that instead of my phone because I can upload photos in bulk. I will try the settings you showed on your phone to see if that works.
With regard to your pain, have you tried acupuncture? That is the only treatment that works for me. There might be a school of acupuncture in Southern California. Treatment is a fraction of the cost and you will receive excellent care. Wi regard to wattnot, I think it’s a current fad. I have no desire to do live auctions. I will stick to eBay. late to the part here. i think we all sort of had a feeling that whatnot would go cold, but hey it was worth it while it lasted, from what people are saying. I stupidly turned down poshmark when they offered me the beta auction feature, but i guess now it's ridiculous because they have so many auctions happening at once. people are just doing "silent" auctions and not even putting in the effort.
I have sold a lot of Madewell. Sales have slowed and I also don't find it as much in thrift stores. I think everyone has been picking it up. They do have good fabric. You are not crazy about the sizing. Madewell always runs at least two sizes larger than normal women sizes. Who knows why that is but for myself, I always have to size down.
I must have missed the memo about Madewell not being good anymore as it still sells well for me.
Super stoked for you on the Rick Owens find. High end junk is my thing. Today, I found the matching jacket to a Haider Ackermann dress/skirt and nearly lost my mind. I’ve changed my business model (mostly due to not having tons of room for storage), but also because for PM I find it’s best to specialize: either mostly high end (or mid tier quick flips) or bulk low price. Can’t do both on PM. Makes the closet too cluttered and results in people questioning one’s authority on a high end item. Sucks sometimes due to finding pieces that are just style-wise (or vintage) finds…but that’s the story on PM. I’m ok with it. I find PM doable…not overwhelming and with my finds…it mostly works. I just struggle with leaving items behind that are incredible, but cater to a über fashion educated audience. I struggle to leave behind high end pieces that are just too obscure. I know there is the Real Real, but I just worry I’ll get screwed by sending in some of my pieces.
I know you know it but you don’t know it, but in case you still don’t know it the lululemon tank is the ‘swiftly tech’ line. It’s the only lululemon style I’ve memorized (along with the ‘metal vent tech’ which is the equivalent for Men’s) because it’s all 300%+ sell through and almost always sells for over 35 regardless of what it is.

Those Theory pants looked like mens to me and I think Theory sizes their women's clothes in 2,4,6, etc as opposed to waist size 29,30,31, etc, so i think those pants are mens but i could be wrong. Lol at "wig out"....showing your age my friend. Guess I just showed mine too. Ha

What's Depop Performing like in the US? In the UK things Like Sportswear. US College sweatshirts and the like are selling pretty well on there it seems? And for much better money than eBay? Only downside is is mainly a student age group that uses it and they can be a little flakey..

This quarter last year I had 900 items in my store. Right now I have 3700. My sales are down 39% this quarter compared to last year. I wish I knew what the hell is going on.
