I bought mine from a trusted seller on Bricklink - eBay and Bricklink are great places to look, although a boxed copy of this set is rare and usually expensive. If you're based in Europe definitely check local auction sites as well, you can find great deals on them.
Thanks for the review. Very intersting as usual ! What a nice train. I personnaly prefer this one over 7730 (especially the shape of the locomotive), but both a great sets to have. I am glad to have a copy of 7727 which I paid for a good price (350 $CAD) on facebook marketplace from a seller not too far away from my place. This was almost a miracle to find something 12v related on local market here in Canada (QC), let a alone a boxed 7727. I was lucky on this one (compensates a little for all the times I paid a bit too much for 12v sets 😅) Enjoy your 7727 !
I think I also prefer it a little more than 7730, the engine is definitely nice. Sounds like a good local deal, quite lucky! It would be nice if I could find a similar deal in the US, but no luck yet.
Great review, I really like the condition of your 7727 and the fact that it came with NS stickers, as these are my favourites. Unfortunately my one came with DB stickers. I bought my 7727 back in 2020 on polish auction site for 1400 PLN (350$), it looks like all the parts on it are original, they are in decent condition expect for the white box, as it is heavily yellowed. Unfortunately it didn’t come with box, nor stickers. Still looking for complete sticker sheet and a decent box in good condition, it’s really hard to find anything knowing how rare and expensive it is.
Nice! I think almost all of the parts on mine are original as well. Boxes are almost impossible to find alone, there is only one seller on BL selling boxes and they're super expensive - one for $100 missing both side flaps and one for $300 with the flaps in "ok condition". I guess that plus the cost of a set would be about the price of a set with box (around $650-750) but still very expensive for only a box. Better to wait for a good deal on a set with box, I think...
@@Reker1million yes that’s good idea. I was actually considering buying that 7727 with lid and missing side flap you mentioned in the video, but it looks like it’s sold now.
I don't think it's sold, that set is from Jesse and his shop is just closed for inventory updates right now. I have pictures of it - it's in great condition except for the missing flap, and the other flap is torn. It's ridiculously hard to find outerboxes for 7727, 7755, and 7745 in good condition.
@@Reker1million Oh, so I stuill have a chance to get it. It's very true about these boxes. I've been looking for 7755 with good box on eBay last year (to be honest I'm still looking) and throughout the year there were only 2 auctions. I participated in both of them and I lost both of them. Ever since autum 2022 I haven't seen a single one with good looking box.
Yep, it's been in the shop for a while. Also seems like the 12v market has been stagnant recently, I haven't seen many new sets pop up. Only occasionally on BL and eBay, and mostly they're not in great condition (missing box/stickers etc). When they do have boxes they're almost always eBay auctions and prices go up very high... I bought my 7755 last winter for a high price - more than I paid for my boxed 7750 - on BL from the same seller I got 7727 from (and who has 7727 in shop with tray lid) but it has a complete box, and for listings of a similar tier I've seen only those 2 auctions since then as well. Both looked to be in worse condition than mine too, if I remember right one was even missing a side flap. Still looking for copies of 7727, 7735, and 7760 with nice boxes. I remember a while ago I was looking at a 7725 with complete box for less than $250 on BL but I didn't have enough and it got sold... now there are none with even a plastic tray... patience is important for collecting 12v.
Those VR logos are just so nice, need that sticker sheet!
where did u get this ive been looking for one for a unboxing review?

Very nice review. Would love to add this train to my own collection.
Thanks! There are some listings on Bricklink right now for between $250 and $350 with no box if you're interested.
Definitely was one of the more expensive ones when I started collecting 12v 23 years ago. This is one I have the box. I love this one.
Yep, it's a great set! Do you remember how much you paid for your boxed one? Interesting to hear that it was expensive even back then...

amazing video
Thank you!
O man.... This train looks great. Wish lego did more of these trains but i guess not. Its all about ugly looking chewbacca these days.
So true! Unfortunately the universe of 12v sets is small but expensive.
