    Just remove the clamp from the hose on the Radiator side and pull it through. No need to remove intake.

    Just leaving a tip about this procedure. I find removing the intake to be time consuming. I usually take off the upper radiator hose from the radiator. After removing the housing nuts, feed the hose out until you have access to the hose clamp.

    I would spread out and tuck a clean rag over the open intake manifold to prevent "stuff"; dirt, debris from falling into the intake ports. Otherwise, great video.

      I have to agree with you on that one. The majority of the time I do and not sure why I didnt make then. That was a long time ago for sure lol......it weird to watch the older stuff. Typically once I make a video I never ever watch it again, Its like watching a stranger lol. Thanks for the comment and that old version of me should have covered those ports up. • @MotorCityMechanic
      @MotorCityMechanic  5 років тому

      If your talking about the plastic housing then the 2 bolts need to be torqued to 110 inch/lbs.....not ft/lbs. Thanks for asking and for watching.

    I c that was before your Milwaukee stuff. The old smaller Milwaukee electric 3/8 is small fast and light. I have the new one to. It's heavier but stronger. Perfect for that manifold brace.

      I started trying cordless tools with the cheaper Craftsman versions....before I used cordless tools with 3/8 adaptors. Once I started feeling they would work good for what I do I moved up to the better quality brands and have done away with air except for inflating tires. No more air line getting in the way and cordless means you can take them everywhere

    I have a question please, on my PT Cruiser, I have a leak that looks like it could be from the water pump. So is it possible, that it could be my thermostat housing upper or lower? Can the thermostat housing cause a leak to where it looks like it comes down from where it could be the water pump? I know water runs in weird ways.. thanks God bless

      I recommend making sure that both speeds on the radiator fan are working. Its one fan but was two different sets of windings internally that give it a low and high speed. This is a common issue that I have seen. Otherwise if that checks okay then you might want to make sure the head is not warped. Depending on how hot it got......the original cause my have created a new issue. For example of the radiator was clogged up and caused an over heat.....it could have gotten hot enought to warp the head (you cant blow a head gasket on this vehicle.....metal gasket, head will warp instead). Replacing the radiator might have addressed the original cause but now the effect has to be fixed....the warped head. Its something to check into. Start with testing the fan first. Thanks for asking and make sure to subscribe.

      Danny Thompson Not at all, the fender would make no difference. You remove it from up above. You may need to move some items slightly out of the way to gain access to it.

    I have a question. we replaced the thermostat on my 03 PT Cruiser 2.4 non turbo. it is leaking now out of the bracket. we have tighter it and put gasket weld or whatever it's called on there and it still pours out water on the backside. what can I do?

    • @MotorCityMechanic
      @MotorCityMechanic  7 років тому

      Timothy Coleman When you say bracket.....are you speaking of the plastic thermostat housing or the aluminum mount that the thermostat sits in?

    • @timothycoleman5575
      @timothycoleman5575 7 років тому

      MotorCity Mechanic Hmm.. My friend took off the 2 bolts the housing, he broke one of the bolts, we had to get a new one, we replaced the thermostat and when he put it back together, he added some gasket sealer and it pours water out of the backside. The area that separates the bottom and top of the housing. He added the sealer because one he originally put the housing back on and tightened it down, it was leaking. He then took it back off and put gasket sealer on and tightened the housing back down again, it still leaks

    • @MotorCityMechanic
      @MotorCityMechanic  7 років тому +1

      Gasket sealer shouldnt be used. The thermostat has a rubber seal that goes around it and thats what seals the housing. If a new housing is needed.....there is Dorman replacement you can order for less then $20.00. www.partsgeek.com/m369h6b-chrysler-pt-cruiser-thermostat-housing.html?PartsGeek+ShoppingCom&fp=pp&Chrysler+Thermostat+Housing

      thanks. I ended up getting an new Thermostat that actually has the gasket (o-ring) on it. It fixed the problem. But now we watched your video to a T after changing the water pump and Timing Belt. Problem now is, if Ingot the gas after starting it, the RPM's drop and the car cuts out. Engine vibrates a bit when idling and it ends up cutting out. Is it a spark plug? As per timing wise, we made sure after a couple times that is was all lined up. I don't know why it's shaking and why the idle is lower than it should be.

    • @MotorCityMechanic
      @MotorCityMechanic  7 років тому +1

      Double check to make sure nothing came loose from having jacked the engine up when doing the timing belt. I have seen some people damage the MAP sensor for example. I would also check for codes to see if anything can point you towards a possible cause. All this is being that all the timing marks line up as you say.

    so my coolant sensor is completely gone...cant find the wire either. I don't know if it fell off when the radiator was crunched or just was never there. I replaced the whole radiator got a new fan and stuff but I'm stumped about the coolant sensor. My mechanic friend said that maybe I have a cracked block or blown headgasket or something because I started it up and it doesnt sound great. Hoping thats not the case. Seems to be a leak in the thermostat housing.So I want to go ahead and replace that, but I cant tell where its coming from. What if its the lower part? Its definitely coming from the thermostat housing. I can go ahead and replace the thermostat and the housing but what if its the lower piece and where is the wire that the sensor would go to so I can get a new one of those? I don't see any wire that is is loose anywhere. I went ahead and traced the wires from the little breaker box thing on the right side of the engine but I still cant find any loose wires or anywhere that a wire may have been pulled off from the impact. I am not a mechanic but I am determined to get my car running so any help would be great. Thanks.

    • @jypsyjennerousity1758
      @jypsyjennerousity1758 8 років тому

      +Jennifer Peebles Oh ya I figured out the temperature sensor was missing from watching a video on how to bleed your coolant. I thought the leak was coming from that hole but there doesn't seem to be any actual hole there. Now that I have the radiator all put in I went ahead and put water in it in case I have to do something else. Sure enough there is a leak somewhere. If there is air in the radiator and a leak could that be why it is running like it could possibly be blown?

    • @MotorCityMechanic
      @MotorCityMechanic  8 років тому +1

      +Jennifer Peebles it really depends on how hot it got. A crack in the cylinder is highly unlikely. Blown head gasket....ain't happening. Why might you ask.....because it has a metal head gasket. What happens with an aluminum head is that it will actually warp causing leakage into the cylinders. If the engine is cold, take the radiator cap off and start the vehicle....if puffs of smoke or coolant gets blown out the radiator cap opening then you most likely have a warped cylinder head. I'm curious about the coolant temp issue. The lower portion that the t-stat plastic portion bolts to can be replaced. If you can take any pics related to it then either hollar at me on Facebook or email me at david@motorcitymechanic.com because we can't attach pics here. Plus I can reply with images etc.....on there as well
