THIS, is MUCH better than the original, no contest! The original would've probably worked better if it was character swapped and retitled "James Strikes Out", but this rewrite is LIGHT YEARS better, and makes Edward feel more in character being kindhearted and concerned about others, especially ones who've been on the railway longer.
I was introduced to Thomas through TATMR and the Hit Era, so I didn't know anything about the classic era, until that day. The day I was introduced, to the Best of (Insert Engine Here).
This is a great rewrite. Putting Harvey into the limelight for why Edward did what he did made a huge difference as everything flows so much better with everyone feeling more in character. Well done.
I am glad Edward was kind to Rocky when first meeting him and ignoring Gordon's rude remarks about Rocky. Either that or James should've been the star in this episode instead of Edward. And I would like this episode then.
I am glad that you managed to spin the conflict in the ep to work with Edward's traits as opposed to having him be bitter as the original, plus more Harvey is always welcome in a story. I am kind of sad that there wasn't a "go get em, Edward" in here but that's an insignificant gripe haha

It's funny how all you did was make Edward worry for Harvey instead of rude to Rocky and it made the episode 10 times better than the official episode.
I really love this rewrite, so much better than the original episode. But one thing that just bugs me with this story in general, is that the breakdown train has been completely forgotten. Like, what if Gordon's accident happened before Rocky came to Sodor? Harvey couldn't do it, so they had to use the breakdown crane, and Edward also could've just gotten the train instead of Rocky and Harvey if you know what I mean. Again, no hate, this rewrite is wonderful, it's just a thing that bugs me with this story in general
@@ThomasFan2002 True but I prob could've added in a line like "With one big crane I am still needed but with two..." and then added a part in the story where the breakdown is either being repaired, hence why Rocky has been brought over or it's being used in a different emergency
Funny thing that, I have my own rewrite that features the breakdown crane (ok so I used Judy and Jerome but kind of counts right?) and Harvey didn't have as much of a role.
Actually their are rumors that James was gonna be the main character of the episode however his model wasn't working, despite the fact they should have used Henry since his model was STILL WORKING.

Wonderful rewrite. Here, Edward making mistakes is justified because he's sticking up for Harvey. Also, I would have used this oppritunity to showcase Edward being the Island's designated Breakdown Train Engine. It would be fun to see Edward hauling Rocky to a wreck and then him scolding Thomas or James for their cheeky or naughty behavior.
What a genius idea to rewrite some of the faults in the series, this is so great👍👍 also, maybe Unlucky Tug was right in his video about Edward. In the show, the reason why Edward has SO much against cranes, is because he was hit by a ship boiler in Edward's Brass Band🤣
Way to give this episode a lot more meaning! Thing is, I don't see any Season 6 episodes in need of rewriting. But I'm willing to watch them all the same.

I love the interactions between Rocky and Harvey. What a lost opportunity to not have an episode about Harvey fearing being replaced by Rocky in all honesty. They had his prop available at the time, they used it in the episode, they definitely could have done this. I still don't like Edward's carelessness in not waiting for the pipes to be tied down, but the question is how do you make this episode work without Edward being out of character? That's an even bigger challenge. Also for the sake of argument let's say the breakdown crane was in need of repairs or something, and that's why Rocky came to the island.
Admittedly this video is showing it's age, nowadays I'd have something about the breakdown cranes becoming a bit worn down and Edward rushing off because he feels guilty about Rocky not getting to work and Edward not truly knowing what to do in this situation, caught between wanting to treat everyone fairly and protect his friends from the scrapyard, making him just want to get away from the situation as fast as possible.
This is perfect and how the epiosde should have gone. The original is lettery just a james epiosde. Also the idea Harvey being replaced with a bigger and stronger crane perfect idea for an epiosde like this.

What I like from this work is that when many prefer to replace Edward with James, you did not do that but rather, shake things a bit so the story will work with Edward's personality, this gives her flaws but also believable flaws for a character like him, and the dialogue of Rocky and Harvey is so sweet and have a very good lesson. really a shame the original episode isn't like this.

Although if I could make one suggestion: I’d say something along the lines of Harvey was in need of maintenance, that’s why he could only carry one at time. Because otherwise I was always confused why he could only carry one at a time, when he was able to lift Percy pretty well on his own.
I love the rewritting of the story. But Harvey can't lift big engines Gordon, and they never mentioned the brake down crane until in the cgi season 22 i'm not sure which season.

This episode is way better than the actual episode just Edward was only On the final version of the episode and this was the episode we got this would’ve been much better than the actual episode at

Although if I could make one suggestion:
I’d say something along the lines of Harvey was in need of maintenance, that’s why he could only carry one at time. Because otherwise I was always confused why he could only carry one at a time, when he was able to lift Percy pretty well on his own.

That one’s a really bad episode too. But at least it didn’t mess with the first RWS character.

I love the rewritting of the story. But Harvey can't lift big engines Gordon, and they never mentioned the brake down crane until in the cgi season 22 i'm not sure which season.
