Thanks man, I have exactly the same bike, 85 xv700. Bought it from a shop that gave up on the starter gear problem. Your video is super clear and easy to follow, especially with this addition. I'll try it within the week!
Good deal! If the spring is still there, cut about 180° off and stick it back on, add a ground wire directly from negative battery post to bottom or starter bolt, add the stabilizer, and give it some choke when first staring the bike. It’s an older bike. Needs some help sometimes 😀

warzone keelspoelers hey! Thanks for watching! So another thing you can do is, add a negative wire directly from the starter bolt holder to the negative battery post. Remove the starter spring and cut out about 180 degrees of the spring and put it back on. Add the stabilizer of course. Starting at full choke isn’t a bad thing. Bike is old so it needs help. After like 1 minute and a half, go half way for 30 seconds and then cut it off completely. She’ll start like a champ
@@lui1760 I bought a similar voltage regulator from ebay, but mine comes with 1 red, 1 green, and 2 yellow wires. Most drawings I see have the green going to ground. Not sure how to connect it. Any help is appreciated.
@@richardm1352 🤔🤔 that’s weird. Because 2 wires should be ground. Another to red/white harness and another to red white connector. Is it DC-DC voltage stabilizer?
On the harness, coming from the bike, find the wire that gives you 12v when you turn the key on. Splice into it and connect the stabilizer line on the video.. if your stabilizer doesn’t have the red, yellow, and 2 black wires, it’s not the correct one.

Hello! I actually don’t know if anyone has tried a different model. But I’m sure if you do it, it won’t hurt it. Just gotta find the 12v that turns on and off with the key. 😄
I tried to find this on eBay and I’m not finding it with that part number or key words. I also tried to find Mikes posts about it on FB and can’t find that either :(
