Hi folks, I immensely enjoyed restoring this hand-forged sausage stuffer, especially the end reward! 😂 They were delicious! Have you ever tried Kielbasa, aka Polish Sausages? Cheers! Johnny
Beautiful restoration job. That sausage stuffer looks much better and it works like a charm too. By removing all the rust and dirt you have it safe to use again as well. Excellent work.
OMG! This video made my mouth water. You have saved a unique food processing tool and made it functional again. I see a neighborhood sausage barbecue in your future.
Kin in norther Wisconsin from all over Europe, still did fall pig killing and used every bit. The best kielbasa (called ‘summer sausage’ for some reason), blood sausage, head cheese, all delicious. Salted cured hams hung overhead in the dining area.
How remarkable!...a splendid piece of dedication, especially getting everythung back together IN ITS RIGHT PLACE without an Instruction Manual...thank you...dgp/uk
The only thing you are missing is the rubber ring around the plunger part, aside from that awesome restoration. I love these videos as the sounds are very relaxing. Made me subscribe!

To bych ještě dodělal.
There are a lot of different designs of hand crafted sausage stuffers. These designs varied with the available materials from crude to complex. I have one that uses a screw like a grape press. It is easy to use and the sausages come out great. Every town had "a guy" who made these and other butchering related tools.

Maybe. The problem I had with a grinder was that animal grease and oil dissolved the oil stain in the wood and it leached out and smeared.. Next one I’m baking paraffin into it like a cutting board.
Uh oh, I was told "you never want to know how sausage is made" - the damage is done! 🤣 Seriously though that was a nice restoration on a very oddly manufactured piece of equipment. Maybe the gear broke and they had to weld that back together? Either way, great video! Already subbed - sorry I can't do it again! 😁👍
We're having kielbasa grilled with onion and peppers tonight! I can only imagine the smell of decades old meat juices and grease that soaked into the handle--yuk!
Kind of horrifying to reflect that most or all of that gunk was on this unit, the last time it made sausage. Those interior welds around the output nozzle look like bacteria traps, too.
Good eye! I've already ordered some rubber filament to craft a new one, but the shipment is still on its way. I decided to proceed with the video since it operates well without it for now. Thanks for noticing! 😍

That's right. I ordered some rubber filament to make a new one, but the pack is still in transit, so I decided to go without the video because it works fine without it. Good observation, though! 😍
Handtool rescue started the same channel years and years ago doing same thing where he wouldn’t talk just like this. I guess he was the first. He’s just now started talking more on his channel.
If you are making Brass Handles, suggest, you should give it a rough finish instead of smooth finish. This will help in getting grip while operating handle, otherwise, slight sweating or moist hands and grip will get lost.
Why did you turn the brass handle on your lathe and then drill and tap the hole on your drill press? I would have drilled and tapped it while it was in the lathe.
Great observation! You're right about that missing O-ring. I've ordered some rubber filament to create a new one, but the package is still in transit. I decided to proceed with the video anyway since it works fine without it for now. Thanks for your keen eye and for taking the time to comment! 😍
The gear had a significant crack, which posed a risk of further weakening or damaging the wheel if I continued machining it on the lathe. I had to balance between thorough restoration and preserving the piece's integrity.
There is absolutely no reason for grease to be put on those gears. They are open. They will not be spinning fast. So the most they need is oil when using. STOP putting grease on everything. Grease holds on to dirt which will cause more damage and will look horrible. Only if those gears were enclosed completely never to be seen again should you use grease. Since these gears are open, use oil. A food safe oil. Even vegetable oil. BUT NOT GREASE!

Brilliant restoration, as always. This isn't so different to my, more modern, sausage stuffer.
Thank you 😊 I have an electric one, too, but this one I restored is faster. 😅
Super jestem kiełbasa chorowany pożerałem serdecznie. 👍👍👍👍
Hi, amazing restoration ❤ at the end it was way better than when it was produced and repaired. Those weldings were really unpleasant to watch 😅

So good!

İyi güzel ve çalışır durumda .. Tebrikler..
Ash is a good choice, very dense, will not easily stain or absorb, and I would have left the natural color.
That's right!

That thing looks like it had quite a few repairs done to it. Either it is old, or it has really been abused. Great job.
Right when you said the handle had a bad odor, a skunk walked near my apartment. I thought, smellavision is a real thing 😂
Hahaha, that's quite the timing! Maybe smell-o-vision isn't just a myth after all! 😂
That’s incredible!🤣
Very nice. Although I do wish you had you had used an oil finish on the base. 👍
Thank you! I used plant oil on top of the water stain :)
@rustyshadesrestoration 🙂 I was thinking more of just an oil finish to highlight the natural beauty of the ash, rather than stain.

I’m glad we don’t have to use this stuffer when we make 200lbs or more Rope Sausage around the summer holidays. But cool machine.

Kind of horrifying to reflect that most or all of that gunk was on this unit, the last time it made sausage. Those interior welds around the output nozzle look like bacteria traps, too.
Yea, they weren't sanitary welds. This appears to be a homemade contraption.
Let's sausage!
That's a long t of vinegar. Must have kept that somewhere outside, lol
Yeah. 25 litres 😄
You need a gasket on the piston.
Good eye! I've already ordered some rubber filament to craft a new one, but the shipment is still on its way. I decided to proceed with the video since it operates well without it for now. Thanks for noticing! 😍
@@rustyshadesrestoration I think they're made from silicone. More than likely you can still buy a compatible food grade gasket somewhere.
Great restoration. I am a little disappointed in the dark stain on the beautiful piece of ash.
Greasy meat can let ugly stains on plain wood, so the stain may help a little with that.

Hello Good afternoon welcome you re a very good technical work and I would like to Say that what is this
Hope they were good.
Delicious! :D
Who ever did those welds, I hope they never went into construction 😂
😆
Pretty sure it was homemade, and some parts scavenged from older farming tools. Pretty good for the time.
👍👍👍👏👏👏👏👏👏👏

I have a damaged drill chuck. Now, it is the supplies list. Takes time till the new one arrives, so I had to choose the other way :)
You forgot the leather seal.
Rubber 😁
Shouldn't there be an O-ring on the piston?
Great observation! You're right about that missing O-ring. I've ordered some rubber filament to create a new one, but the package is still in transit. I decided to proceed with the video anyway since it works fine without it for now. Thanks for your keen eye and for taking the time to comment! 😍
How many days you spent on this restoration
Around 10 days
I am wondering if you could have turned those ugly welding blobs off the inside of the gear by using your metal lathe?
The gear had a significant crack, which posed a risk of further weakening or damaging the wheel if I continued machining it on the lathe. I had to balance between thorough restoration and preserving the piece's integrity.

NEVER put petroleum great grease on food related products. Always use silicone grease. FYI
