Falcone's office was really cool. It made him look like the king of the city, as his pool table room hovers over the city streets below. Really good cinematography in that scene, too.
The film was a cinematographic masterpiece. That one shot where Gordon goes to the bat signal and turns it off and it appears like he’s alone from the perspective we are seeing him, and then you hear Batman’s voice as he emerges from the shadows of one of the pillars was both an incredible shot and 💯% something Batman would do. Simply amazing stuff!
Penguin was jaw dropping. You knew it was prosthetics, but it look so real and Collin played so brilliantly that this was a real highlight in the movie.
The guy/actor from Batman Begins was phenomenal tho. So many levels to his delivery and mimic. Greed, compassion, understanding, he looked like he had a big-ass burden on his shoulders but he's in too deep to quit. Watch the scene, the guy's brilliant.
1:34 Holy crap, that answer from Colin Farrell was incredible and described the movie and Gotham brilliantly. 4:15 I've seen it at the cinema twice and seen the upside-down scene in trailers and plenty on youtube since, but I was still shocked again when he snapped me out of it, reminding us that he was in that scene! My brain just refuses to comprehend how Penguin and Colin Farrell aren't two separate people! It's difficult for me to get out because chronic back pain makes even just sitting at a cinema very painful to endure, but I still hunger to "bathe in" The Batman again so soon after seeing it the second time already. *Chef's kiss I think I'm big Colin Farrell fan now too!
I was invited to John Turturro's niece's wedding years ago. I met her father Nick Turturro but I did hope that her Uncle John might be there. She flew out to see him weeks before the wedding. He was really good as Carmine Falcone! I also didn't tell my friends until after the movie that Colin Farrell was The Penguin and they couldn't believe it.
This is such an underrated film. The whole singular idea, by Matt Reeves, that this is a man who is unhinged and unhealthily obsessed with fighting the criminal element at night who is constantly beating criminals to a pulp with his bare hands and with his unlimited amount of vast resources at his disposal. All he sees in the criminal element, in this corrupt town that his family helped to build and found dating back to the late 1800s, are the people who killed his parents as a young child making him an orphan. So, he dons the mantle of that which he fears the most, in the form of the Batman, after training for the majority of his life to rid his city of the evil that took his parent's lives. He dosen't know who was responsible for killing Thomas and Martha Wayne so every criminal he sees, to him, is the criminal that killed his parents on that fateful night when he was only 10 years old. He is addicted to this mission, like a drug, so as both Bruce and Batman, he spends all of his time, trying to succeed in this impossible task he has set up for himself. That's why he never sees the light of day as Billionaire Bruce Wayne and is a social outcast and pariah. He is a man driven by vengeance; by revenge. By the end of this journey, as we see Bruce on a physical, mental, emotional and psychological level and transform from a young, naive, impatient man who makes mistakes still early in his career as a crime fighter we see him then become something else by the end...a symbol of hope, an ideal, a form of inspiration that makes criminals terrified to step out at night and commit their atrocities that makes Gotham City one of the worst places to call home. A city with a history and a foundation steeped in corruption and crime that ties back to the Wayne family and and their vast fortune. It also plants the seeds that will give him the inspiration to step out in the light of day to transform into the billionaire, playboy industrialist more interested in dating models and driving fast cars in order to hide in plain sight so no one would be able to distinguish Bruce Wayme is actually the Batman. A man consumed by vengeance who transforms into a symbol of hope. Obviously a film inspired by the comic book mythos and Arkham video game series and Batman animated series from the 1990s. Ironically, a film consisting of character arc transformations and worldbuilding moments that is actually one of the most faithful Batman comic book movies to the original source material in the 1940s. Such as Detective comics issue 27 from 1937 and batman issue 1 in 1940 created by Bob kane, Bill finger and Jerry Robinson. Then, the new 52 comics such as court of owls and Zero year by tomeu morey, john ottley, Jim lee, Scott Snyder. Batman year one by jim lee, David Mazuchelli and Frank miller as well as Batman: the long halloween and Batman: ego and other tales. This essay is lterally just scratching the surface of why it's actually one of the best batman films yet up their woth the likes of the Dark knight from 2008.
Finally after 3+ years of self isolation from all pop culture news for The Batman, I'm proud to say that this makes my effort way worthy! Epic. Batman. 🦇 🦇
I understand Gotham City is a dark place it all starts this two-day Thomas and Martha Wayne killed Beyond the corruption of Gotham City now Batman has a finished what he started The day he put on his first Batman suit at the first time. It's not the way how Bruce Wayne lives like this throughout his life becoming Batman but now be things are right now as we know it today What a truly means for Bruce Wayne become Batman. I know Gotham City is a scary place to live in. Now it's up to the superhero Jim Gordon was like a second father to Bruce Wayne show was Alfred pennyworth As a stepdad. Helping Bruce Wayne become Batman.

I agree that this is a well-made, well-acted, high-quality drama that happens to be a Batman movie. So was The Joker with Joaquin Phoenix. The only cast that is not convincing enough in The Batman is John Turturo as Calmine Falcone. Make no mistake that John Turturo is a great actor but Calmine Falcone's part is just not for him. It's not intimidating enough.

Really in love with those giant windows with the bolts and the support frames. And industrial interior lover's wet dream.
The whole movie and the set pieces were characters on their own. Haven't seen a movie with such a engaging atmosphere like this one had in years.

John Turturro is the world's most Sicilian man alive. Excellent casting for Falcone.
